And at home...

Virgin don't throttle 50 MB and above...

G.

Crikey, that has to be faster than accessing data from a hard drive.

At this rate, give it a couple of years and we won't be needing hard drives to store the OS and other programs. Just turn the PC on and the internet can do the rest!

I know that my virgin downloads at 10Mbit/sec but that doesn't mean that sites will download at that speed.

Many sites download at ultra low speeds especially if they've got a lot of people online and not enough servers/bandwidth to cope.

With some sites I can download a 10Mbit file in a few seconds with other sites it can take minutes.

If you find that one site is slow try closing and re-opening the page.

This sometimes works - I suppose you get onto a faster server.

Also don't forget that you don't get a straight connection, you're being re-routed all over the world.

incidentally take the speedtests with a pinch of salt. in the real world they may not reflect your actual speed.

a better way to check would be to download a large file (MS service pack for example) and gauge your download rates.

everything ive seen on here is considerably faster than mine. . . .

:bang:

I wouldn't, they packet shape and randomly slow down your connection at times to cope with their nasty habit of not buying enough upstream bandwidth from their exchanges.

This is why I ended up binning them, I was being throttled every night without fail. Switched to a BT line and got O2 broadband, I get 12 meg at all times, no limits and a great service.

I'm so sorry, I didn't realise... I actually use a very rare and obscure colour called grey... don't know if you've heard of it or not? If not, I can post you a sample swatch... :D

Grey, yes I've heard of that  something to do with 18% or something  :D

Oh and these how big is your penis
fast is your broadband, screen grabs, are making me feel very inadequate

but its interesting to see what speeds are achievable
so keep flashing your penis's speeds guys
(and dare I say Gals? :D )

At least you got a refund Ingrid
Tesco have admitted its their fault but as yet no offer of a refund

Trust me Chris, you really don't want to get on the wrong side of me in an argument , I'm pretty sure the payout is to get me off their case , I was outright accused of twisting the excuses one chap was using , well I suppose I was by taking it literally word for word
I won't make you feel more inadequate:hug: , my phone line is only capable of 6 meg

Well it would seem that a couple of days later
my "POP3" has "popped" back in to service :)
Let hope for a long and un-interrupted service
(Shan't be holding my breath though :D)

LOL the links are "affiliate" they magically appear
If you click one then do your shopping the site gets a kick back ;)

Or not. Those links all go to 404 pages for me.

Something to do with me blocking the entire skimlinks.com domain on the network ;).

I love javascript link susbtitution and websites that use it. Oh yes indeed. Skimlinks are right at the top of my list of websites that will be the first against the wall when I lead the revolution and take control of the internet :bat:

Before...

After...

Four days difference! Well how did that happen then?

I had an accelerator fitted to my phone socket by a BT phone engineer, and BT gave me a new (latest model) Broadband router. Pretty good eh? Worth complaining, I think.
