Bloody 306 leaking, driverside footwell

So it's official. I hate my car.

While it no longer has next to no pulling power and drives as it should, it has started filling with water whenever it rains again now! This happened before and one of the seals was slightly out of place, so rain wter came in through the door and ran down the console. I fixed this and it was fine until recently; I went to it the other day and it had about an inch of standing water after a bad night of rain! I checked all the seals and they all seemed fine, what's odd is that the carpet around the bottom of the doors is fine and so is the carpet up by the pedals, it's only wet down on the floor! I have no idea what this is.. I have found several threads online with the same and similar issues in my model of car but they are all either unsolved or I have tried the fixes to no avail. So far I have fitted a new door seal and checked all drainage bits by flushing water through them. Some people mention an inner sheet that should be under the door panel which stops water coming through, but surey then the door upholstery would be wet or the carpet along the door would be?

Running out of ideas here, hate the car but can't sell it in this state either! Any advice would be appreciated!

EDIT: Worth pointing out that it only occurs when the driver side is exposed (i.e. not against a wall) and I have hosed it down to look for leaks to no avail! Also here, have some pics:

This is the bottom of the door seal, you can see it is bone dry, as well as the newspaper I used to show which area the water was coming from if it went in during the hosepipe test.

Do you mean the windscreen is leaking? Would this result in water all over the top of the dash or is it a little more complex than that; and is this a new seal or a new windscreen job if it is this? Thanks!
 
Have you checked the floor in the back footwells? could be a rear window/door at fault. If you're bored I'd suggest taking the seats out so you've got room to move around, pull the carpet and trim out and get an assistant to soak it with a hose along all seams/gasp/seals whatever and eventually you'll find the hole!
 
If it were a vw I would put money on it being the drain hole under the battery blocked with leaves etc.
When it fills it floods the rear footwells via the ac ducting via pollen filter housing, maybe peugeot have same flaw?
Worth a go anyway;)

Might have been worth mentioning that after it's rained, when I first take a corner I get a small trickle of water from the sunroof controls/aerial location. But only a few drips, not enough to cause a flood and not directly over the driver side, none of the center of the car is wet. Will look into resealing this though.

I'll have a look at this, I have sprayed the car with a hose looking for leaks several times and never found it, but never spent much time on the rear of the car!

If all else above fails it could be the wing drains (that drain water running off the windscreen at either side of it have rusted through of cracked. Water then runs down the nedinge bulkhead and into the brake servo. From there it runs down the inside of the drivers footwell and into the read footwell if it gets full enough.
 
have you got a sunroof
the pug 106 leaks from the sunroof and into the interior light, this also houses the central locking module so that packs up as well
my lads 106 drops water on him all the time wee wee

I do indeed, I know my interior light/sunroof control bit leaks but nothing actually comes through the sunroof (yet!) but I'll be keeping an eye on it until all this water stops! :gag:
 
My 307 piece of merde leaked into the passenger footwell and it was because of a small leak at the bottom corner of the windscreen. I had the windscreen replaced and the fitter showed me where the sealant had not quite done it's job. I found it by stripping out the front carpet and fixing strips of kitchen towel down the bulkhead, wheel arch, etc.

If it's any consolation, I hate my car too. It's been loads of trouble and this morning I found a completely drained battery when I tried to go to work. It's the third Pug I've had and they have got progressively worse. NEVER AGAIN!!!

This but also put a layer of talc or similar down so you can clearly see where any leaks are coming from.

I have a Peugeot 205 and a few points that can leak are the seams behind the front wings, windscreen, sunroof, aerial, rear window or heater matrix.

My 205 is over 20 years old and I love it :love: not all peugeots are evil.

It does make me feel slightly better that mine isn't the only evil, self destructive pug! I swear it does it to get to me.. It senses when I'm happy and then strikes out of spite! :runaway:

As it happens I went out and have totally layered the interior of the car with light card (cereal boxes and the like) all raised from the ground with yoghurt pots to see if I can see where the water is coming in from, anything I couldn't yoghurt pot up is covered in newspaper. I'm a bit scared of waking up to a papier mache model tomorrow! :cuckoo:
 
until recently i had a peugot partner that leaked through the areil mounting andf filled the interior light with water ! - I did pin the root cause down in the end - it was because it was a badly engineered piece of french crap. :lol:

We part exed it when we bought swimbo an aygo - and I am now driving her focus
 
is your headlining wet at all? Try pulling the headliner down slightly and get some fingers in to feel for dampness. We used to have Clio that had a leak around the sunroof edge which would then drain down the inside of the A-pillar behind the dash and into the footwell. Ive had three French cars 2 reliable and the other was a comedy of problems. Nearly bought a Megane RS recently slapped myself round the face and bought something else.
 
I had a 306 and had the same problem, it was from the sunroof. In the end I stuck gaffer tape over the seals, didn't look very pretty but it stopped the leak.
 
ok... had similar in my old punto....

is the scuttleplate full of crap (that's the black bit below the windscreen near the windscreen wipers - should be some drainage holes)

If they are blocked, it can overflows and seeps down back of bulkhead and into car that way......


DO yuo have a sunroof? If so, usually have a couple of drainage tubes that go down and through A pillars.......

If so, that's another possible..........


I assume you've checked the obvious - (no big hole in the floorplan!)
 
My citreon van had a similar problem and it turned out that under the bonnet leaves had blocked the drain holes in front of the windscreen and it filled with water and when i went round a corner it run up somewhere and poured in might be worth a look
 
My 306 leaked through the aerial. I guess that was damage caused from when my idea of washing the car was putting it through a car wash.
 
Thanks for the input guys, been stupidly busy and not had a chance to do much with the car. Went out earlier after it had been drizzling and yet another small flood. It's still drizzling so have put my special water detection newspaper and cereal boxes down to see if I can trace it. No sign of ingress in the roof lining. Did notice some cracks in the metal below the windscreen in the drainy bit under the bonnet. Will get some pics when I can, no idea if water could get in through here though. Especially as the car is parked in such a way that in theory the water would run away from this crack.
 
Is it definitely rain related?

Could it not be a cracked pipe from the heater matrix?

I'd imagine so as it only ever happens in rain. Was fine for the past few days that we had glorious sun shine. It has no smell too, would the heater matrix smell of.. heater.. stuff? :thinking:
 
A small leak from the heater matrix would steam the windows up

The windows do occasionally steam up when it happens, but not always.. I assumed it was condensation. Here are the pics of said crack I found.. None of my tactical paper or cereal boxes seemed wet when I checked but the floor looked like more water was on it, so looks like the leak isn't coming in and dripping from anything :thinking:

That just looks like a crack in the soundproofing?
 
Have you cleared the sunroof drainage channels in the pillars lately? It's almost certainly those that's causing the problem, the water sloshing in the roof is a clear sign of this. If you don't clear the channels with a thin rod regularly the problem gets worse as the channels then start to rot and the water can get into all sorts of other places.

I've not cleared them, I did pour 2 litres down each of them the other day though and it all seemed to come out and left no dampness. What could I use to clear them though to be safe?
 
I always got my dad to do it, but I think he just used a net curtain wire. Have a look on somewhere like pug306.net if you get really stuck, they've seen it all over there and are a very helpful bunch.
