weekly Blondies 2012 52 wk52 BUSY - Finished !

Lynne...... I saw shadow on flickr and thought..Omg!! Is this one of those naughty books everyone is talking about...then saw the word vampire ... Dark patch isn't obvious to me as I'm focusing more on the shadow as the subject....but not so sure about the angle of the ring...what I do like is it isn't the same angle everyone else photographs from so hats off for trying it differently..

As for colour... Where have I seen this pencil idea of late ... I do like the shoot.. Rather an optical illusion playing tricks..

Colour is great, really interesting idea and excellent execution.

Shadow - I love this and fab. Its a heart and that makes the shadow :)

Well done you girlie, you should be well pleased with your shots.

Colour reshoot is spot on Lynne but I can't look at it for too long as it is playing havoc with my peepers
As mentioned it is an optical illusion which works well as it works on a few different levels. Nicely processed, lit and composed. I can imagine this took a little while to set up as these sorts of subjects must be just so, demanding accuracy. So big:thumbs: for your patience and perseverence (sp)

Shadow I like too, I wouldn't have noticed the black area if you hadn't mentioned it. To me it doesn't distract or detract from the overall scene, that being the shadow. Again good lighting on this, not too overpowering, you've kept the texture in the paper

Iain

HI Lynne

Colour reshoot - much better layout and colours

Shadow - high quality image. good texture in page, good subtle shadow, partic the way that the point matches the centre fold of the book. Very good dof on words.- I don't like to see them too oof and this is just right.

shadows is nice and sharp i see why the writings there but a bit less so the ring is slightly more towards the middle not too much though

Hi Lynne, colour reshoot, I like it once again. The sc really works well, your nearly there with the aligning of the pencils.
Shadow, Like your take on this. Hadn't noticed the dark bit until I read your comment, still looks good though. Maybe a sheet of white paper reflecting some light in might help?

Colour is a lot better Lynne, like it:)

Shadow has been done before of course, but I think you've executed it extremely well. I like the fact that the ring is offset to one side.

Nice take on this clichéd image. I was going to do it myself but you beat me to it. Shooting with the ring on one side adds to the over image nicely.

very clever, lovely shot

Hi, Lynne, Colour is much, much better and your 99% there :D

Shadow, wow, folk are really producing the goods so far this week. You've picked up some nice texture in the paper and the shadow tones on the ring are nice, I like how it fades towards the lower section. You've mentioned the cri.

I'm stood here scratching my head. I went out to see if I co uld get some long shadows at sunset but was too late :bonk:

Cheers.

Thanks Andy....dunno how Neil kept going with his pencil thread...darn things are so fiddly :bonk:

Thanks for popping in Kev & appreciate your comments

Many thanks Iain....I wouldn't recommend going anywhere near pencils unless you have the patience of a Saint !

Funny thing...no-one has spotted...or if they have they haven't mentioned it...the 2nd tie in to the Shadow theme

Cheers Alan..those pencils were a pain but almost pleased with the reshoot !
Glad you like the Shadow shot..

Thanks Allan , I see what you're saying but really wanted the ring on the lhs...dunno why though

thanks Michael....I had cards of all colors trying to move the light around for this one...& as for those pesky pencils :bonk:

Colour is a lot better Lynne, like it:)

Shadow has been done before of course, but I think you've executed it extremely well. I like the fact that the ring is offset to one side.

Cheers Mark ...it's one of those shots for me...don't care how many times it's been done ..it hadn't been done by me..& quite pleased with the outcome

Nice take on this clichéd image. I was going to do it myself but you beat me to it. Shooting with the ring on one side adds to the over image nicely.

thanks Peter..sometimes you just have to ignore that it's been done do death...no-one else has quite the same take on it as you

very clever, lovely shot

Aww...thanks loads missus :)

Good work on the shadow theme (you had the same idea as me!). You've captured it great, perhaps a little more contrast would finish it off for me (personal preference).

Cheers Steven

& still no-one has mentioned the 2nd tie in to the Shadow theme....either I'm being far to subtle or the real shadow is very effective

Hi Lynne, been a while, sorry.
So many plates spinning at the moment!

Now, let's start with one that I can speak with authority on, the pencils!!
I was playing with mine the other day and did the same configuration, never got to shooting it though.
Your first shot with the pencil is defo the weaker one.
It lacks symmetry, especially that red one on the right and the bigger gap on the right in the inner circle. However, you have my fullest understanding on how difficult it is to move a pencil in to place! The second one is miles better, better colours and alignment, all though a slight miss align on a couple.

Shadow, I love the ring and i love that you've got the word shadow in the text too, well thought out.

The Spain shot I find intriguing.
The colour on the black is great, but something isn't working.
Not sure if it's the crop or the white bit.

Only a few weeks left now, any thoughts on doing next years?

better late than never with week 49...actually took the shot 2nd Dec but not had time to upload here & comment on everyone's threads till today.

6:30am saw me sat at the side of Ladybower res in -4 degree's full of anticipation of a great sunrise....that never blooming happened :bang: Managed to get a couple of frames I quite liked then had a little play in ps to boost the colors a touch...

Hoping to get my Round shot done today ....

I really like the second shot - the boats in the water are a great point of interest in the shot, that don't stop your eyes from looking around and spotting other great details

Great shot!

& still no-one has mentioned the 2nd tie in to the Shadow theme....either I'm being far to subtle or the real shadow is very effective

I noticed it the the writing in the book did sort of mention it.

Lovely colour in glow not sure which one i prefer

Hi Lynne,
#2 for glow gets my vote, as Neil said a more balanced composition.
The subtle colour tones work really well, its a very accomplished landscape scene, with foreground, mid ground and background interest.
Although you weren't rewarded with a sunrise for your early morning efforts, you still must be chuffed with these? I think they work really well, lovely light, still conditions good work Missus ;)

2 nice pics there Lynne, I slightly prefer the 1st one for its wider view, I find my self wanting to see a little more to the left of the bridge. Lovely colours though and well worth braving the temperature!

'ello...looked again at Shadow and saw the 2nd Shadow....:bonk:

It's Glow #1 for me, mainly because the boats are in a nice line. Tighter crop, maybe (sorry!). Lovely colours and lovin' your dedication

Cheers.

Wow it was cold when we were there so can only imagine how cold it was when but totally worth it. Did the ducks keep you company?

Love the sky tones and such a crisp shot

I like number 1 best Lynne. I think on the other one the shoreline and the boats break it up too much.

Lovely colours :)

Both are nice but #2 would be my preference. You may not have got a sunrise but you've captured some gorgeous golden hour colours. I could see that as a print on a wall. Lovely shot.

Hi Lynne, sorry I did comment last week but my rubbish internet failed to post it:razz:

Colour, I think the HDR is subtle enough to bring out the detail without screaming HDR! The colours are lovely for me :)

Colour 2, nice idea I think everyone has said everything about it. I like the matching signature:thumbs:
I do prefer the reshoot though.

Abstract reshoot, that's an interesting angle and really works for me.

Shadow is very clever, I like the double it with the text too, although I am trying to keep reading each line :bonk:

Glow, Ladybower is an AMAZING place and you got what we missed, some amazing reflections  Number two does it for me, the colour, reflections and glow are more pronounced and those boats on the water really draw the eye

Round, I've seen it on Flickr can I comment as it's not on here yet? What the hell! Yay it's very Christmassy :) I love the red and green with the splash of gold. Some crazy settings going on there, is this a rather small bauble? If I was to be REALLY picky I would have cloned out some of the tiny specs of fluff or whatever it is on it, but I am looking closely:coat:

Not long left now until you do it all again

Hi Lynne
Glow - lovely serene feeling. Reminds me of a Tuscan landscape - but i don't suppose that was your feeling at 630 on a winter's morning. I think that the shots that you have got are better than a more trad sunrise. Like the comp of #1 but better colour and detail in #2

Hi Lynne, I prefer #1 of the wider shot. It's a lovely place to visit but I've not been there at 6.30 in the morning! The lighting is lovely with a great glow in the sky! We must have a meet there sometime!!:):)

yay Ladybower, recognised it straight away - I been there *dances* - absolutely love the images, well worth -4, no. 2 has the best reflection though. And fits the theme perfectly, probably better than a full on sunrise imho

Prefer the 2nd Lynne, the reflections are more balanced, the reflection in #1 is too dark for me.
Possibly a levels tweak with a grad filter applied in PP may help.

Cheers Neil...agree about the shadows , tried lifting them a bit but didn't work to well & I ain't progressed as far as grad filters in pp yet

I really like the second shot - the boats in the water are a great point of interest in the shot, that don't stop your eyes from looking around and spotting other great details

Great shot!

Thanks Dan

Thanks Alan....glad someone spotted the 2nd link...& then I go and miss that you spotted it...DOH!

Thanks Iain....think I'm just miffed I didn't get the sunrise I wanted....& I hate early mornings ! I prefer #1 ,simply cos #2 is playing tricks on my eyes & looks slightly on the squiff..even though it's not :)

"6:30am saw me sat at the side of Ladybower res in -4 degree's"

Now THAT is what I call dedication!
Well worth the effort IMHO - lovely pics

I call it insanity , it was bloomin freezing

Thanks Michael...yup ,think I agree with you on #2

you n your flipping crop's......maybe next year I'll get the hang of it

Hi Alex...think the ducks were hibernating ....

I like number 1 best Lynne. I think on the other one the shoreline and the boats break it up too much.

Lovely colours :)

cheers Mark

Thanks for the mega catch up Marsha...don't ask about the settings for Round...mega senior moment

hi Summer....I'de be up for a meet out at Lady Bower ....wanting to visit when we have snow

yay Ladybower, recognised it straight away - I been there *dances* - absolutely love the images, well worth -4, no. 2 has the best reflection though. And fits the theme perfectly, probably better than a full on sunrise imho

Thanks Summer ,glad you like

& so we come to week 50...Round

Knew what I wanted to do but couldn't be a***d to get the tripod out of the car on a trip to Castleton so failed. Back up plan in to action at home.....don't even go there about the settings...have no idea why I used them , think I twiddled the wrong wheel on the camera

so here ya go :

Round by llj666, on Flickr

think my original plan involved a much shallower DOF to blur the tree.....

can't belive we only have 2 weeks left

'Ello, Round is on theme and the colours/eposure look great. It does lack something, maybe, as you state a shallower DOF.

Is that you in your avatar? If sol I do wonder why so reticent to post a proper SP

Cheers.

round is bang on theme but it does need a little something else not sure what though

Hi Lynne, round, nice and seasonal subject, good colours, looks like it needs a bit if a contrast boost.

Thanks Michael...tried boosting the contrast a smidge but it went all yucky...probably due to the silly settings I used:bonk:

round is bang on theme but it does need a little something else not sure what though

Cheers mister.....I agree

Thought I'd get in quick this week , not my 1st idea & if I have a semi sensible week might try something else , but for now....some more Negative Space....

negative by llj666, on Flickr

Not shot the moon for a long while & never a crescent moon , quite pleased with the results , took a while to figure out the settings . Almost full reach with the 150-500 so not the sharpest of sharp things. & because it's me.....got all set up , found the key to unlock the window, tripod wedged & camera/lens balancing precariously ....neighbours going to their car did a double take & then the cloud covered the moon
