weekly Blondies 2012 52 wk52 BUSY - Finished !

Nice. I wanted one from underneath....but when I saw yours, I thought, well done....

Symmetry is spot on and it's well exposed.

Cheers.

Hi Lynne

Abstract - Liking the no:2 myself, really like the jagged line of colour change, a great image

Symmetry - Spot on, a nice shot taken from a good angle, seeing it big on black background on flickr really shows the detail captured & a nicely exposed sky, Nice One

Looks straight to me :)

I like it a lot. I've tried to get nice pylon pictures in the past (why?), but failed mostly. Yours works very very well, probably helped by the clouds, and is bang on theme.

looks straight to me Lynne, its amazing what is out there thats symetrical when you look

Cheers Alex...no worries , more a trial , learning & trying stuff I wouldn't normally do :)

Its great to have a good play and if you are anything like me, its quite exciting to see where you end up  I rarely have a plan!!

Symmetry - I think its straight...I think! I like it, good angle and nice sky as the background.

Comment catch up time for me Lynne :D

Symmetry is bang on theme, I too tried a beneath a pylon photograph but never quite hit the mark, yours has

A relatively simple subject but the tighter crop filling the frame accentuates the symmetry against the blue sky. Hope we get some weather like that for the end of the week :)

It's miles off :lol::lol::lol:

One thing I've learnt on this theme is how hard it is to get images symmetrical - whether they be natural shots or mirrored. You've done a great job with this one but I am partial to a pylon or two.

Cheers Peter...symmetry sounds easy but when you start really looking it's incredibly hard...

I think the angle of view is tricking me, looks like it needs to be rotated to the left a little. Nice pic that, like the composition and the sky is nice!

Michael.....:bat: :p

Like it! It's my interpretation of the theme in the sense that you can either look for symmetry and capture it as in this shot, or create a symmetrical image as other 52ers have done. Both ways are valid but I think I prefer the first.

Cheers

Cheers mister

Thanks DK...I'm quite partial to #2 Abstract , like you the jagged egesd quite appeal & I do like the colors , glad you like Symmetry too

Thanks Mark...this challenge sure leads you to photograph stuff you'd never normally go near....can't help looking at pylons now....I need help

Cheers Liz....& likewise stuff you thought was symmetrical but on closer inspection you see it isn't quite ....I hate this photography lark sometimes

Well done and spotted Lynne. The exposure is bang on which can't of been easy shooting into the sky!!:)

Thanks Sarah , the shot was taken quite late in the day so think that helped with exposure plus getting to grips with Exp Comp is helping big time

Thanks Alex....problem I have is everything seems to get addicitive...so many things to shoot & nowhere near enough time :D

Nice and straight and excellent exposure

Cheers AJ , glad you like

& so to Moody...should've done a selfie

Not my ideal ideal image , I managed to miss all the great dark n moody clouds so settled for this 1...2 versions as not really sure which , if either, work better ? Got another shot that I really wanna do , gonna give it a try wednesday afternoon...instead of packing & shopping !

Moody a by llj666, on Flickr

What I'm happy with....the verticals appear good ( were horrendous in camera )the sky works fairly well & it's in focus
What I'm not happy with....wanted a better sky , my mono conversions are getting better ( I think?)

over to you guy's to shoot me down & I'll hopefully manage to get my wanted shot & post before northumberland...though I have a feeling several opportunities may occur up there

ps...gonna try for a reshoot of something but probably not till after the meet...just not enough time

#2 for me. I'm not quite getting the whole desaturated thing yet.

Never easy photographing in grave yards. Trees/clipped tomb stones,

I'm liking the sky though.

Cheers.

No 1 for me nothing really stands out in the black and white version

Number 1 for me Lynne, I like the desaturated look, with just that little bit of colour it works very well. Sky is good. The b+w conversion is very nicely done. Hope you enjoy the meet!

Thanks Michael, B&W is one of my many weak points so glad this one appears ok

Thanks Andy, the desturated style is a bit marmite but I'm really liking them....maybe the style will grow on you  At least this church didn't have tree's in front of it ,bit irritating that the tomb stones never seem to fit but hey ho :)

#1 for me, I like the touch of colour in it. It also makes the detail pop a bit more on the church itself. I like it and churches make for good moody shots I think.

Cheers Alex , a church was the 1st thought that came to mind

Hi Lynne

Moody - Defo no:1 for me, the subtle tones work really well, love the angle the shot is taken at, and the clouds seem to be just in the right place - Great One !!!

much appreciated DK

I'll also go with the first, although if the b&w was a little darker .....

Thanks Bob...hmmmm...might give darker a go on the B&W

No 1 for me nothing really stands out in the black and white version

Thanks AJ , really wanted a more dramatic sky but faffed about too long & missed it :(

Right , having got out of work nearly 3 hours later than planned I whizzed to SMC to get my wanted Moody shot . Only a 3 bikers around so made a quick decision - he's the one ! "hi , I'm doing a photography project , need a model , would you be so kind as to help me please ?" I say , "I ain't no model " he says.." you're just what I'm looking for " I say & blast him with my best smile  2mins later he's moved his bike to roughly where I wanted it & is standing where I pointed, looking vaguely bemused .
TOP BLOKE

Moody Biker by llj666, on Flickr

Big thanks to John for helping me out .Not 100% what I was after but pleased anyway . Was shooting almost straight in to the sun which was annoying but didn't want to push my luck & ask him to move the bike round the corner .
No time to do a reshoot for this week , maybe after the meet , as really need to pack & shoop....TTFN

Hi Lynne :)

I really like your church shot, especially the colour version. Deffinately moody with that sky and your PP.

The biker is a nice shot, but it doesn't say moody to me. Maybe it needs to be a bit closer?

Hi Lynne

Symmetry - good shot of the pylon and the sky is a nice contrast. . Bang on theme and symmetrical. But really you should have lay down in the nettles :D

Moody - The colour version of the church is very moody and for me is the best.
Good shot of the biker and very gutsy to approach him but not really moody for me, altho I think that your idea had merit.

Hi Lynne!

Moody #1 is absolutely divine. (...geddit?) Love the treatment, the colours, the sky... the lot. The B&W looks good too, but not as good as #1 - I think the sky loses something without the colours.

The bike shot makes me think of a book cover, maybe some kind of biography - the negative space at top left is almost screaming for some kind of title to be added. At least, it is in my head :)

I prefer the 2nd church as the tower is a bit too dark at the top of the 1st one

Hi Lynne, sorry I've been a bit busy with work these last few weeks!

Symmetry, looks perfectly symmetrical to me! Lovely lighting and colour in the sky. I'm always dabbling with exposure compensation, it's a useful tool.
I remember someone shooting a pylon straight up through it for industry! Now who was it?

Moody, number one for me. I like the hint of colour.

Mind you, that's one moody looking biker! I would maybe crop some of the sky, it looks a little bright! Your brave approaching strangers though, something I've yet been brave enough to try!!!

Hi, Moody...get rid of the bike (sorry :D) and wall...he is a superb model for moody. That face.....had great character and is moody in spades.

Cheers and where's your Joy :rules:

The colour version of the church says moody to me. The sky has worked well.

The biker was a not 100% how I wanted it but always time to try again :)

I googled Moody Biker & saw an Image I liked but didn't quite manage to pull it off ..I still quite like it though & am gonna give it another go when I have more time

Week 26...Joy

Not for me....no people to take shots of ( when I do they generally don't work) so yet another weak entry for me....

I spent a good hour watching Gull's flying at the base of Dunstanburgh Castle at the 52's meet....some juvenilles as well as adults & it was wonderful . Overjoyed when I up loaded the images thats I'd managed to get a few in focus

These 2 are my favorites , may not say Joy to everyone but hey , thats life :)

Well done Lynne, they certainly say joy to me ... disregarding your joy at the outcome, the birds are evidently enjoying the freedom of flight ... and they are two particularly good captures

Hi Lynne,

That first joy shot is beautiful. Really, really like that a lot.
Just the right amount of DoF so that the background is recognisable but not distracting and a lovely sharp, clean capture of the bird.

Not so keen on the second.
Let down for me a bit by the harsh shadow on the body and the b/g isn't quite as appealing . . .

. . . but that first one

Hiya Lynne, just having a look at these on my phone. The Kittiwake in the 1st picture is really nice. The 2nd bird is a Fulmar, one of my favourite seabird. Apart from the shadow I like the look of it. Will have a proper look later on the laptop.

joy was a cop out for me too, funnily enough I also had a gull flying across the sea as one of my options lol, so I can't fault yours

Number 1 of the bif's for me, lovely ..

Many many thanks Sarah.....quite pleased with #1 myself . I kinda like #2 as well...thought it may be a juvenile & hoped the sea would suit the shot...maybe not

Thanks for popping in Michael & for the id's...the only Gull I recognise is the blackheaded one...& thats easy

Joy of wildlife! Lovely shots Lynne.

Thanks Alex

Thanks for popping in Martin , appreciate it

Think last week we had a reshoot card...or was it the week before  I know we had one recently so here goes ....

Reshoot of Short....still not convinced & think it could also work as Small....make of it what you will
Now my favorite tipple....yum yum

Short Reshoot by llj666, on Flickr

Week 27 Small ...gotta get this in quick cos next week's looking like being another mare !

Small...was gonna go for a macro of a flower centre but couldn't get it right so opted for a small rose bud...just about to burst in to flower....could also be a reshoot for Pride - I've never managed to grow roses before so I'm quite proud that I've got 3 bushes in the garden all starting to bloom :D

Small 2 by llj666, on Flickr

Right , now I've managed to shoot & upload I can concentrate on catching up with everyone else's threads over the next week...TTFN
