weekly Blondies 2012 52 wk52 BUSY - Finished !

Hi Lynne, that is just lovely! You have made the right choice in using b+w too. Shooting a wedding is certainly daunting, I have only ever done one, a good few years back, when I was using film cameras! They had a main tog, I just did the extra bit's he couldn't get. Are you able to put your images on here to view?

Cheers Michael ,glad at least one person likes it  Just uploading to flickr , nothing sparkling & certainly not up to the standard of the pro guy's on here....might pop a couple in to the portraits/people section & see how loudly I get laughed at

This is a smashing photo and fits the theme well. Only thing worth a mention is the sun catching an object in girls left hand, arm looks chopped. Beyond your control obviously. Don't know if toning down would make what she is carrying clearer. Still does not detract from a lovely shot.

she's holding her dress up at the front, but I agree that the sun has made it look all weird

I do like this shot though - at least it wasn't the bride doing a runaway

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Nice one. I'd be shaking that much it would have been blurred :D

1/6400...that's a fast shutter speed.

Overall, I like it. It has a hi-key feel to it and there is implied movement in there.

I guess holding hands was out of the question.

My only main crit is the crop...perhaps you could get away with some off the top to get rid of the BG distractions

Cheers and mahhhoooosssivveee well done for surviving your first (or many :D) wedding shoots.

Lynne this shot is LOVELY! If they were my kids I'd be well impressed! I certainly can't fault your choice of image and conversion to B&W as I have posted the exact same idea:thumbs:

Great minds and all that:clap:

Oh and I'd never be brave enough to do a wedding! You have this lovely and sharp, definitely one for the wedding album:clap: I always miss the magical shot, I'll be looking your other shots over when I get a chance.

Thanks Marsha , wasn't even thinking about the theme when I took the shot but thought it worked well , the color version works also but thought B&W the better option....glad you like & thanks for the positive comments , much appreciated

If anyone ever hears me mention doing another wedding please send rounds the heavy mob & have me shot ....never ever ever again , not for all the tea in china...though if someone offered me a nice shiny new lens as payment I may possibly reconsider

Cheers Andy ,bright sunlight coming through tree's , walking whilst taking the shot & a silly huge f2 to try n blur the BG....1/6400 doesn't surprise me , thats it's in focus really does surprise me ! Loving this fity of your's by the way
Holding hands....just want want want with you...

As for the crop , dunnon , wanted the road going in to the distance & the other crops I tried ended up either losing the tops of the stone pillars or having 1/2 a car in them so choose this one .
As for another wedding , part of me would love try again so I could try out what I learnt & do some stuff differently....but really not up for the stress again !Unless payment was in the form of a really nice prime lens or 2 of course....

Hi Lynne

Good shot on theme. Mono treatment works well.. The b/g is hard to dispose of I think as to get rid of the cars and buildings would compromise the gate posts which I think are essential to the theme - otherewise it becomes a cute couple of children walking in the sunshine. overall I think a nice shot - nice atmosphere, nice feeling of movement. well done

excellent pic though maybe a bit of a crop might be helpful but best leave shot I have seen up to now:)

'Authority' - Nice image of a GSD in front of police vehicle, your choice of depth of field works nicely. My left wrist still bears the scars where one of the MoD dogs lunged at me whilst I was rewinding a film once whilst standing next to the beast and chatting with his handler. Not only did it hurt there was quite a bit of blood and there's always an audience about laughing when you don't want one.

I'm glad you can relax again after the wedding. That's a lovely capture of the little boy and girl and really works in monochrome. I'm glad it went well for you.

Hi Blondie,

Best leave shot I've seen thus far...mono works really well:)

Lovely shot Lynne, very much on theme. Perfect in mono too.

Thanks AJ ,glad you like the image , I'm still struggling with crops :bonk:

Ouch...that sounds nasty Nick :'( Glad you like the image though

Hi Blondie,

Best leave shot I've seen thus far...mono works really well:)

awww....got me blushing now ,many thanks :)

Hi Lynne

Leave - What a great shot, really well spotted and caught, nice dof and the B&W looks real good for the image

thanks DK
Lovely shot Lynne, very much on theme. Perfect in mono too.

That's a great image. I bet the parents love it. You've handled the lighting well and created a lovely picture which fits the theme spot on.

Lovely work Lynne, it really tells a story.
The B&W conversion really suits the subject. Iain

Leave is a lovely lovely shot, can't fault it.

Where did they go on Honeymoon? I notice he's got the hang of married life already, and is dutifully following her lead!

Subtle tweek but helps I think

Really good photo. I like it a lot. Another mono shot that suits. Well done.

Lynne, great take on Leave!

Thanks loads for the positive feedbacks & crit which led to me editing the highlight...much appreciated & so glad you all the shot :)

Week 21 & Random.....what a theme !
1st I wanna apologise for being absent this week , still cream crackered from weekend at Brands....fanbloomintastic but very tiring...I will catch up with comments over the weekend on all the shots I've missed .
Having seen the theme I decided to just have fun & not worry too much about it . My 1st & only thought was Random things I'd see at the track , things that caught my eye or made me smile , not my best week but hey...it's about having fun too :)

3 to offer , prepared to be slated but no realt time to dedicate to the theme in doing a set up shot this week....

#1...maybe not random order but really like this image...fins on the Scirocco R in the VW race series of the same name :

Random 1 by llj666, on Flickr

#2...just made me grin , a racing pedal bike next to mahooosive race car wheels...couldn't get a wider view for clutter & people

Random 2 by llj666, on Flickr

#3....wandering past the Euronascar race pits & saw this body in the engine bay....random sight for sure & made me laugh...

Random 3 by llj666, on Flickr

So ,thats me for this week , Farne Island trip next so the weekend will be spent sorting more images & catching up on here

Cheers to all for your contimued support , well done to the brave souls still hanging on in here....

Hiya Lynne, out of the 3, I will go for number 3, random indeed, I wonder if he got stuck in there. Number 1, I think would have worked better taking a step to your left, as if you were looking straight down the line of the spoilers. Number 2, I would prefer a wider crop.

Enjoy the farne islands!

Hi Lynne

Sounds like you had a great weekend !!!

Random 1 - I guess it's random for not being random, but see why you like it, I love the symmetry and colours

Random 2 - Nice shot, very random but would prefer the railings oof... not that I'm fussy

Random 3 - The top shot for me, How blinking random is that !!!!!

Cheers michael and DK. The bike shot isn't cropped ,couldn't stand further back for people n stuff in the way :-( glad so$m$eone else likes the fin's shot though, think it's my fave. I will catch up over the weekend with all your posts ,it's far too much like hard work doing this on my phone ! TTFN

Wow, you get about a bit, don't you...:D

#3 for me. Very random and I can almost see him grinning:thinking: I like the muted B&W, more correctly, the light and dark grey.

Enjoy the Farne Island trip

Cheers.

I don't know that any of them scream random to me, though I can see where you're coming from, but yeah, number 3 for me too; lovely shot, and the B&W works perfectly :)

Number 1 I love too, but not as much as 3. I can't work out whether I agree with Michael or not; I think even more diagonal would be an equally good composition.

Number 2 is hilarious! It's not that brilliant a photo, but it's one of those cases where just capturing what you saw that made you laugh is enough.

some good shots but for me only no. 3 is on theme, and nicely shot

Thanks Andy...still not qute got the hang of B&W conversions but there were so many colors on that car I had to go that route :)

Cheers SD....yup , #2 made me chuckle but not as much as #3..looked very odd indeed

some good shots but for me only no. 3 is on theme, and nicely shot

Cheers Summer , bit of a fun week for the theme , not really concentrating on theme as so much to do & see

& so to week 22

Got another idea that I may try tomorrow but settled for this tonight....trying really hard not to set fire to the kitchen or melt my lens  & found that warm whisky ( only cheap stuff I might add ) burns way better than Brandy !

Temperature by llj666, on Flickr

Was a bit tricky trying to get the focus somewhere near right on the flames as they kept jumping about , this was the best of about 35 shots

cheers for everyone's continued support , started my catch up tonight on other's threads & will finish tomorrow...or as it's tomorrow now I';; finish later today

Hi Lynne, random shots are all good to me. Nice colour and composition in number one, two made me chuckle and number three is just hilarious! The conversion to B&W suits it and I can see a smirk on his face top!

Temperature is a very simple but cracking shot, great composition and the blue really says hot! I think even if you were a big pro tog it would still take them a lot of shots to nail the focus, some things just ain't easy!

Keep up the good work and well done for getting this far. Oh and your thread title still says week 21!

+1 for the shot, though a bit soft for the reasons you stated, but -1 for burning whisky ... sacrilege :D

Random - I really like your number 1 shot of the wind deflector and the bold colours looks like you had a fantastic day too :D bang on theme and nice capture.

Temperature - Don't set fire to your cheap whiskey, box it up and send it to me instead lol.

I think this works well for the theme and like the blueish tones from the flames, nice black background and good 1/3 positioning. Yup it works for me. I'll check back later and see what you second idea is ! I'm glad this weeks theme isn't entitled 'Explosive'

Nick

I love your random pictures. I was going to try a shot of cars in a car park for my random shot, that didn't happen. The 3 are all great shots.

Temperature. Great colour. I like it a lot.

Hi Lynne, so you're a firestarter too are you?! It really is good fun not knowing whether or not the house will survive isn't it!!

I like this shot. Nice colours and composition, and you got the focus just right. In a perfect world I'd have liked to see the stand burned out, but it takes a while to see it anyway so that's minor :)

Lovin' it!
