weekly Blondies 2012 52 wk52 BUSY - Finished !

Good work on Flight Missus, you've been busy on your work output.

I like the montage, it really tells a story from the day. Like Nick, I particularly like the plane exhaust manifold, I think that could easily work well on its own.

I like the owl image too, its well lit and exposed with some great detail in there from the birds wing spread.

And, like Mark above, I think the flight simulator image is the third place from the three images you've posted. Iain

Hi Lynne

Short - Liking both shots you have done, nice sharp eyes, I like the lighting & good catch-Lights !!!

Flight - What a selection :D

Looks like you had a good day at the museum... love the montage !!!

The Owl is a cracking shot, very well caught, The light coming through the feathers is great, and the flying into the pic composition is spot on for me - A good excuse for an old shot, well worth seeing

Cracking montage Lynne, the layout has worked very well. Lovely Barn Owl too.

Thanks Michael :)

Brilliant montage Lynne, it's something I'll have to have a go at sometime!!

I wouldn't worry about the owl being an old photo, if I'd taken such a good shot I'd have put it in as well!!:)

Cheers Sarah...twas a great day at Hamerton Zoo & a good course , learnt plenty....need to put it to practice now :)

Blimey Lynne where do you find all the time? Cant remember the last time I flew FSX.
Very good montage maybe spoilt slightly by the Flight sim. Cant you ask Cheesy to give you a spin and get a real cockpit view? Very good take on the theme.
The owl is a brilliant addition.
Time....no hubby , no kids...works a treat  Now what is FSX ? The flight simulator shot was just for fun though quite pleased it actually turned out ok . As for asking Cheesy for a real flight...I'm brave but not that forward...well , maybe....

I like the second Short picture and really like the montage of Flight. Good work.

Cheers Robert :)

Hi Lynne.

Short I think your second tree one is lovely. Of the two short hair ones, the second is best, and a great idea. The first one looks cut out and pasted a bit. BTW, merging the layers won't make any difference to how they look; it's just a way of reducing the clutter in the layers palette once you know you'll deffinately not need to keep the layers separate anymore. The image gets flattened (layers merged) anyway when you export it as a jpeg :)

Flight, wow! The only one I'd reject there is the flight sim screen, as I think shots of computer screens a) are cheating (:)), and b) very rarely work! The other shots are superb, and it's almost impossible to choose between them. If forced id go for your montage because I like the story told.

Cheers for the feedback...the flight sim was just for a bit of fun...was lousy weather & wanted a bit of light heartedness...also proved I could never fly a plane...crashed n burned more than once

I'm another one liking your montage shot. As Nick I like the exhaust outlets. They almost feel 3D.

Hi ya Peter , yeah , quite pleased with those exhausts.....I wasn't sure anyone would know what they were so put it in the mmontage rather than a stand alone image

Like the Aviation Museum group and love the owl ... very well captured.

Thanks Gramps..glad you liked the Owl :)

Hi Blondie....as all have said, montage, really good. will have to try that myself..

like ya owl shot aswell, focus is spot on:)

Cheers mister.... I like montages but struggle with framing a lot of the time...something else I need to learn:bonk:

Owl, cracker. Great composition and I'm really liking the light and detail in the wings

South Yorkshire Aviation Museum, might have to nip over there sometime. The montage is nice, but I can't help thinking there are a few too many in there.

Sad as it is, it's the top centre exhaust pipes that I really like.

Cheers.

Thanks Andy.....glad you have'nt beaten me up over using an older image :D
What is it about those exhausts ??....used your 50 for that shot...can see I'm gonna end up buying one ! The museum is quite interesting , good place to spend a couple of hours...they have some outdoor exhibits but it really wasn't the weather for them last weekend...

Hi Lynne. I think your owl shot is superb:clap: The montage really works well too.

The cockpit shot looks like it needs a little straighten and a crop to remove the darker area/ shadow top left. Nice idea though.

Cheers Marsha...I have no idea how old that cockpit was but the top area was more than a touch battered...didn't want to crop too much cos I'd lose some of the dials .Widest lens I have is 18-270 & it was very cramped in there so got the best I could...was shot at an angle to try and avoid my leg being in shot

Thanks for the feedback Iain....the flight sim as just for fun , closest I'll ever get to flying a plane...

Glad to get anothe vote for the owl as well

hi Lynne, I really like your montage shots. It's a good way of showing the story of flight!!

Cheers Sarah....the very old wooden contraption was fascinating...can't image having the b***s to strap that on & jump off a high ledge....

Hello Lynne, you did a cracking job with the montage, thats the sort of thing i really must practice

Crikey , week 19 already...almost 1/2 way through

Had a couple of ideas for this one , 1st one fell flat so reverted to plan b which was my original plan ! All I needed was motorway patrol car :D Bingo , one in a layby near chesterfield this morning , quick about turn & pulled in behind them....morning officers , would you mind if I take a couple of pic's of your car please ? Might just add that both of them were gorgeous & I looked like I'd been dragged through a muddy hedge backwards :bang: Anyhow , the shot didn't turn out quite how I wanted :(

Never one to be detered I went down to the local Police station , had a chat with the sargent & grabbed my kit before he changed my mind...apparently I don't look like a terrorist  Then the nice female dog handler offered me her dog....excellent...better than I'd hoped for....the only slight downside was I'd only got my macro lens which kinda meant being the other side of the carpark to get the whole of the car side in so settled for this , focal blur added in picasa & I'm chuffed with the result...police cars & dog's def say authority to me anyway.....

Authority by llj666, on Flickr

Great option Lynne ... and you escaped with your kit :D

Doesn't the dog look sweet...probably rip my arm off if I tried to stroke it :D

I like the angle and low POV. It's quite bright.

You and your men in uniform :naughty:

Cheers.

Nice one Lynne, good on you for asking permission, "if you don't ask, you don't get"
I like the processing on this Lynne, it concentrates the viewers eye on your lovely model :D. The dog is maybe a wee bit too central but thats a minor crit. Iain

Andy.....bright ? Blame the sunshine...we had loads today  & don't mention men in uniform , I'll get all un-necessary :D

Hi Lynne, that is an excellent picture. Wouldn't change a thing. Well done!

Thanks Michael

Cheers Iain , I'm on quite good terms with the local force , think word gets around that there's a dippy blonde bint who likes taking photo's of police dogs & ( given half a chance ) policemen  .Thought that asking the handler to re-position the dog may be pushing my luck a bit

The only thing that draws my eye a little is the markings on the dogs fur.
The dark areas make it look like its got little arms, like a kangaroo

Oh just remembered as well, could you pm me your bank details Lynne and I will transfer the trip money over straight away?

Lynne, we need to have words! You have your camera and approach two gorgeous men in uniform and then ask to photograph their CAR? Are you bonkers? Now go and find them and try again!

Lovely dog though, really stands out against the car:clap: Well done for asking to take photos too.

I thought this too!

I'm up in Barnsley on the 17th May, I don't suppose you're free on the 18th if you fancied meeting up? I've asked on Liz's thread too.

Authority is a goodun. Just the right amount of blur makes this image. As already said, the dog looks like it has arms lol

Great shot for authority. The dark marks on the dogs fur did confuse me at first, but I love the concept and execution.

Now, more importantly:

- Are you certain those traffic cops were genuine Policemen? sound more like stripograms to me!

- What did the dog handler look like? Women in uniform.......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :love::love::love:

- Have I understood this right? You went to a police station, chatted the sergeant up, found a dog handler and police car, set the shot up, then found you only had your macro lens with you? You're not blonde by any chance are you?

Hi Lynne, thought i should pop by.

Short - out of the 2 garden shots has to be #2. Like the idea behind the short hair also number 2 for me as i think the first shot gets lost in the background - black on black

Flight - just love the owl shot. very well captured

authority - 2 very nice shots, and some even better PP. Nice work

Darren

I'll mention that to the dog when I see him again......

Details on the way in a short while

I know ,I'm hopeless sometimes...tried to find them today but no luck :D
Working during the day on the 18th till 6pm but may be able to meet up after that if you're still around

Cheers , as above I'll tell the dog when I see him again

Authority - super shot - I love the bold colours.
But the focus blur really does look false to me. At first I thought the dog must have been added with Photoshop then I read your text and the picture made sense.

Hi ya , yup the blur was meant to focus the eye on the dog & the writing on the car....wouldn't now where to start with adding something to an image

:lol: female handle was petite , long dark hair ,I'll mention your name when I see her again :D Blondie606...why d'ya think I got the name

Hi ya Dareen , glad to see you still popping in , thanks for commenting

Very good for this week Lynne, I love dogs so it was bound to win me over. ;)

thanks alby

Hi Lynne,

Good idea for pride, I like the shape of the flag in no 2 and the colour of the sky.

Short:- short hair, hee, hee great idea. I much prefer the second shot against the lighter background. Not got a scooby about how you did it.... pp definately isn't my strength but it looks good to me!

Flight:- I do like your montage very much, but the owl in flight is such an excellent shot that it gets my vote. The light, colour, composition all spot on!

Authority:- Well I'm not going to mess with that dog! I wouldn't change anything about this shot I love it!

Carol

I ain't been round these parts in a while, good to see you're still at it. Loving yourlatest shots.
Pride, yours are betterthan Andy's (sorry Andy!) 2nd one in particular, the first would work better for me if it was a little more to the right.

Flight! Remind me never to get in a plane with you - cockpit check at mach 3 while in turn at a few thousand feet, I fear the check was a little late! Montage is good though.

I love your nerv, chatting up the nice police men claiming to be needing a picture of a police car! And then going in to a station! Last years 52 it was a fire station, is it paramedics next year, you'll need them for three 52's in a row! As for the image I love it, the blur works very well bringing your eye to the dog and police sign on the car.

Keep up the good work.

wow you have nice police persons - I work with the police and they turned me down when I wanted a pic of the sundial on their front lawn!

I am going to be a bit different tho and say I would have preferred either the dog or the car, I think the pic looks overdone with them together (sorry) but either way I love the car and/or the dog :)

Great shot - best I've seen for the theme so far (sorry everyone else). Loving the dog (even with his/her short arms) and the background has been thrown out of focus nicely to take the eye to where it needs to go. Well done.

Hi Lynne

Short - sorry but the small shrubs don't do anything for me. The head shots are good, imaginative. Prefer #2 because of the contrast between subject and background.

Flight - good montage which really reflects the theme. Owl is very well captured and who cares if it is an old photo. Merely thinking ahead weren't you:D

Authority - well negotiated! Good shot, like the colours throughout. Methinks that the dog was weighing you up by his expression.

Hi Lynne

Authority - Well done for asking on 2 occasions for pics... at first I thought the shot had a kangaroo in it ... Nice dof created with your macro, real nice bright colours and soooo on theme

Cheers DK.....I'm on quite good terms with our local force as I deal with quite a few of them at work , DOF was created with somehelp from picasa just to pull the eye to the dog & writing :)

Cheers Carol ....I also have no idea how I got the white background , kept pressing loads of buttons & it appeared:lol:

Glad you like the Owl & Police shot

Hi ya matey , thanks for popping in  Paramdeics.....not thought of that one but sure I'll find a way to get them into an image

Thanks for your kind comments on Pride & the others , much appreciated though think Andy may disagree on the Pride shot :D

Thanks...yup , our local force are always helpful...or maybe they just feel sorry for me  The original plan was just the car but couldn't resist putting the dog in ....

Awww chucks , you've got me blushing now Peter , thanks for such a wonderful comment

i like the focus and that the dog stands out

Hi ya , thanks for popping in

Cheers Alan , Short was one of my...yuk don't like this weeks theme , not entirely happy with any of them but it's all practice :)

Forward thinking indeed with the owl & the dog was way to cute to want me for dinner :D

Hi Lynne, I've started a thread in the meeting place about the 18th, there's a link in my signature if you care to drop by:)

Oh boy , snuck a quick look at TP this morning before I embarked on the most nerve racking , terrifying 2 hours of my life.........I was doing wedding photo's for a friend of a friend  Thankfully a lot of others had P&S's so hopefully they'll have got some good shots ...never ever again :'(

This was a grab shot before they turned round , or sat down , or started pulling each others other hair out  I don't do kids !

But think it works well for the theme...............

Lets Leave Together by llj666, on Flickr

I may well post something else as well , my 1st thought was Leave's....as in trees......

Hi Lynne, that is just lovely! You have made the right choice in using b+w too. Shooting a wedding is certainly daunting, I have only ever done one, a good few years back, when I was using film cameras! They had a main tog, I just did the extra bit's he couldn't get. Are you able to put your images on here to view?
