weekly Blondies 2012 52 wk52 BUSY - Finished !

Pretty much anything i could say has been said, a great shot. Love the reflections and the lighting is spot on.

Hold high hope for the coming weeks, no pressure

I love the reflection on the table because it's such a sharp reflection.

Nice one:)

Somebody please remond me why in heavens name I decided to do this again this year :bonk:

Because it's addictive... this is my third year (although I skipped last year)...

Direction : I really like the holes... I think they're great... hard to choose between them, although I think the second shows the direction better. As for the third one... Portrait would works nicely (you could always just crop it that way, wouldn't be the first time I've done that ;)).

Fear : An understandable fear indeed.. The flame does look a bit overexposed, but it's nicely composed and fits the theme.

Are you becoming the new Dawn in terms of thread hits?

Like the fear shot, reflections, take on the theme and the flame, all good.
Does it need a little rotation right? The lighter verticals don't look vertical, but it could be the angle?

Only 50 weeks left :)

Great entries so far!

Cheers all....Neil....it's the angle ....been staring & staring & staring...then stared some more....it's the angle :p

During 2011's 52 there was the odd couple of weeks that left me feeling decidedly un-inspired.....but SIGH has to take 1st place....I feel like the winner of the least inspired person in the 52 challenge competition

I've been peeking at the various threads & have seen some great interpretations...the only vague idea I had was running out of milk for my cuppa...but thats more anger than sigh for me & someone else did the shot !

So a bit of a cop out for me on this theme...in so far as I've used an old shot...but had a play with PP ( quite a lot of a play actually as this was in the grass originally )...not too unhappy with the result...but well prepared to be ragged to death over it

Sigh by llj666, on Flickr

for gods sake don't view it large...yuk yuk yuk !

The idea evolved from the Theme song to that classic 80's sitcom...Butterflies , with Wendy Craig ....have'nt been able to get it out of my head for a week now :bang::bang:

& moving swiftly on to Sweet :D

I think my inspiration is still in Cumbria.....

A customer gave me these sweet little tins of mints as thank you , I belive they're only available in the States & I new they'd come in handy for something...one day !

Sweet by llj666, on Flickr

Still not too clued up on this composition malarky....& before anyone mentions highlights on the lips...thats exactly how the tins are :p

Right....now I've caught up on 2 weeks I've got most of next week to scoot round the 100+ threads & say HI to all you busy creative people

Oh, hell, not easy commenting on someone you know...

Sigh, I quite like the poem, but the butterfly looks a tad washed out on my laptop, the text could do with standing out a bit more and possibly a subtle border?

Sweet, fits the theme. Now, for sweet, 'Sweet lips' would have been a good one....but it would be a self portrait.....are you brave enough...nothing tacky.

Now, you can do ssoo much better that this....I wonder if they were rushed

Possibly the most critical I've been and it would have been easy for me to just not say anything.

Bounce back and kick my but with week 5

Cheers.

No worries Andy.....as I said , quite prepared for a drubbing...inspiration still lurking in Cumbria

Not a chance in hell of a self portrait either :p....butterfly colors are my favorite....pastels , but thats about the only thing I'm happy with ! Decided against a border as it makes it difficult to put on a photobook....as I found out with the one I've just done for last year :bang:

Been out most of the day watching some Husky racing so yeah...possibly a little rushed , but this year I'm more chilled about this 52 challenge...not gonna get wound up about it....accept the bad with the good & move on...maybe I'll be more creative during the week & think of something else for sweet......depending on how many hours I spend commenting on others work !

My other excuse for doing such a carp job with these last 2 weeks.....been sorting my POTY entry....now that did take some work !

Appreciate your honesty mister...always the best way....& besides...I may just wanna borrow your nifty fifty for a wedding in May

Hi Lynne - just seen this pop up on the forum so thought I'd drop by and see what a fellow 2011 POTYer was doing for their 52.

Really like the plug hole pics; I think the first one gets my vote; colours look great on my iPad.

Good efforts on the other three themes; Fear is certainly the stronger of the arrangements. Like the sweet one too although I might have been inclined to arrange the mints to look like the lips too.

All the best for the year; have subscribed now so can keep tuning in.

Spooks

Sigh, it fits the theme, and the PP seems to have worked well... I have to agree the butterfly looks a little washed out.

Sweet, a good idea, it's worked and fulfil's the theme. The black background was a good idea.

Hi Lynne, sigh what a difficult week. Good effort for actually getting something posted. Not sure if I like the background on this one, although I do love butterflies so I can't be too harsh. I know somebody who would pay money to have that image on a fridge magnet :)

As for your sweet shot, I need to find me some of those they look tasty!!! A Well lit image and focus is spot on, although the composition is a little simple for me.

Like the lippy-mints, wonder if the positioning of the actual mints could be improved

I will skip over the butterfly shot ;).

Liking the mints shot, the combination of the 2 colourful tins and the mints against the black background works very well....

I might have been tempted to try a low dof shot at an angle rather than top down as this type of shot would be new for me and adds interest etc....

Just a thought as I like your one anyway :)

Not so keen on sigh I'm afraid, but that's probably because I have an aversion to captions on photos (you watch, next week I'll be unable to think of anything other than captioned photos!).

Sweet is great! The only thing I'd say is that the sweets look more like pills than sweets, but then that's not your fault; you didn't design the sweets!

Will agree that the sweets look like pills but the tin lids look great works well, well done

Hi Lynne

sigh was a killer and you can pat yourself on the back that you managed a shot at all.

Sweet - i like it, the tins are bright against the background and nice and sharp, have to agree if the mints had been lip shaped as well, it would have been cracking

I like the bold colours of the mint tins against the black background.

I just wonder if there is a different layout over the direct down shot?

Look forward to seeing your next photo.

Hi Lynne, another good couple of weeks from you :)

Like the butterfly, maybe a little washed out but still like it.Certainly meets the theme.

Like the way the colours pop on the mint tins, lovely and sharp too :)

Hi Lynne, I like both sigh and sweet pics.

The black background helps to make the punchie colours stand out!

Oh and I now have the theme tune Butterflies going around in my head!!:lol:

Great effort on the sweet theme Lynne, nice sharp image with great colours. I think a more natural composition of the sweets would of been nice.

Sweet - Nifty little tins... Pouty sweet lips, it's nice and sharp & I like the use if the black background, good choice

Cheers DK :)

Really intrigued about mango mints, may have to trawl the web for them!

Nice clear, sharp shot.

Hi Alex , thanks for popping in....Mango mints are lovely but think they maybe only available in the States :'(

LOL someone beat you too it....linky

Thats a great image

Hi Phil, thanks for commenting....yup , simple, thats me  the BG for the butterfly started off as a field of grass....amazing this pp stuff

2 good pics not much to say as I think it has all been said!

Cheers for stopping by
Like the lippy-mints, wonder if the positioning of the actual mints could be improved

Yup , quite probably...but then I have a huge lack of imagination at times:lol:

love the colours in this one

Thanks

Hi ya , thanks for popping in .....don't blame you for ignoring my weak Sigh !

Thought about a lower angle but wanted to get all the lips & the writing in...still, always time for a reshoot

I like the lippy images, good choice Lynne and fits the theme

Cheers Nick :)

Many thanks DrR...daresay a reshoot is on the cards

Dammed annoying that tune ain't it !

Great effort on the sweet theme Lynne, nice sharp image with great colours. I think a more natural composition of the sweets would of been nice.

Hi, just dropping in for the first time. Apologies but I'll start with sweet.

I love those tins, the colours are amazing they look almost 3d. The mints do look like pills, not sure if there's a way around that, maybe have one of the tins open with the mints in it?

Hi Lynne,

I'm going to go straight to your sweet shot......it's brilliant..I love it just the way it is!
Direction, not seen a plughole quite like that before...what a great take on the theme.
Fear, like this one alot, very well shot.
Sigh, I'm singing that song now...sigh!

I'll be popping back to see what you do in week 5.

All the best

Carol

Hiya Lynne, apologies, I missed your sigh and sweet pics! Right, sweet first, I like this! Only thing I would do is to actually move the right hand tin a little further to the right, just to separate the sweets and the tin. A great effoert and well done!

Sigh, I like this and a good bit of pp work, I clicked large and to be honest it didn't seem to bad. The composition of the shot works very well for me and I the added text works ok with your chosen colour. It was certainly a tough theme to do.

Week 5 tomorrow!!

God I'm so glad I'm not doing this years 52, pencils are so much easier.
Sigh is a tough one, but this is not a poetry forum :D
Now is the poem yours or is it off a late 70's/ early 80's sit com that I cannot remember the name of. Apologies if the answer is somewhere in the thread, I've not read them all!

Sweet, yes the composition needs some work.
Possibly the tin lid slightly a jar on one of them showing sweets in the tin?
Did your customer tell you what the before and after sweets for for, ie before and after what  from the direction my mind has gone I can only think it would be better than smoking!

I hope today is a good theme.

Hi Lynne
Just passing by trying to get some comments done on other 52ers. Liking your take on Direction, plenty of swirl.
The Sign is a nice idea but could do with a bit of colour increase as looks a tad dull unless its my screen.
Idea for Sweet, loving the tins, very good colour. Can only echo thoughts of others on pills and composition.
Its all going well though

Hi, sorry I've not been here earlier, but here is my 2d worth,

Direction: My favorite is no. 1. Lovely composition, nice colours and great idea for the theme.

Fear: I'd be frightened just standing by whilst you took that shot. I like the flame as it is, and love the glossy base and reflections.

Sigh: That bloody song is in my head now! Is that a butterfly? I don't think I've seen one like that. A nice image but I'm not keen on the text if I'm honest.

Sweet: Love it. Maybe a little colour in the mints would be good but the colour of the tins is fantastic. The lips look almost 3d. One question though; before and after what?

I like your take on the sweet theme a lot Lynne. The vibrant colours, sharp focus and high contrast all make for a cracking photograph. As someone said above, it has a 3D feel about it. All round good work. Iain
