weekly Blondie606's 52 in 2014 Wk 52 Support-THE END :-)

Hi, I love the linked photo and your reshoot - both cracking ideas.
Linked - It's nice to see a few pictures linked together as a submission - it works well

Nice. Shame we can't zoom in to the individual pics, I would love to see the middle one enlarged.

I like the frame too.

Can see I'm going to have to watch you as I'm a bit of a Gavin Hoey fan at the moment as well. May have to be quick of the mark on some themes ;)

Three great shots there and like the framing (y)

Brilliant set Lynne, love the one of the leaping bikes focus is spot on (y)(y)

Thanks Judi :)

I like it Lynne. The layout works well. Nice sky in the last one. Is this chap on youtube?

Cheers Michael...yup Gavin Hoey is on youtube ,loads of different tutorials...also on Adorama TV on you tube....

Linked - brilliant idea for the theme, and great use off pp work love the image of the 2 bikes in the air great stuff.
Thanks MAndy....was great to be out shooting bikes again...those guys are seriously nuts as well !

I knew someone would do this, I had considered it too.

Nice thinking.

Thanks David.....never really managed a trytich properly before so pleased with this one

Great idea for linked Lynne, three good images (y) only thing for me is, in the middle image, the two bikes could have done with being more top right, loosing a bit of sky and gaining more ground to the bottom left, ( would that be a smidge  :D, ) My thinking being, it would give them more room to land into :)

Thanks Phil...yeah....agree with you...I did consider having a word with the riders about their positioning..... :D Majority of the shots of that jump had someone landing so difficult to include more ground at the bottom...I'll try again tomorrow & see what I can get (y)

Super idea Lynne...love the 'flying bikes in the centre....it looks scary to me....I also like the end one, it's like plunging into the unknown, a very original idea for the theme.

Cheers Susie.....the riders had a quite a hill to climb to the finish line so I suspect from their position it really was like flying in to the unknown ...nutters the lot of them :)

I saw this and liked it on Flickr before I saw it here, didn't realise it was your entry for this week.

So yeah, obviously I like it. Does the first image (the start grid?) have numbers or anything on? It would have been nice to see it from that angle maybe? Second image is great, really sharp and a good action shot. Third image is nice and contrasty love that moody sky!

For me I'm not keen on the border, well, the colour and thickness of it anyway... sorry  :$ I would have liked to have seen a white or black border - but that of course is just my opinion! (y)

Overall it's a good image and obviously on theme :)

Thanks Simon.......the start line did have numbers on it but not very good or big ones ...back there again tomorrow so will try to get a shot including them . The border was always going to be marmite...just me trying another tutorail....I'm posting a version with a plain border further down at your suggestion :)

We WILL suffer your attempts... so that you WILL teach us when you have perfected them :D

Your doing a great job so far, i'm enjoying the ride (y)

You could be in for a long wait....for perfection :D

A great explanation to your reasoning behind the 3 images... a good triptych

Before reading your comments I was going to say about the empty finish line, and still will but for a different reason, for me it's the weak one compositionally of the three, I know it's a nice moody Sky, but with the land level being the same as the middle image I feel it should be higher up the frame (as it can't go much lowewr :)

I really like the sequence you have gone with, the start line, in race and finish line, and for me the middle shot steal the show by far, a fantastic capture of the action, I'm looking forward to seeing your next attempt with more riders, quite a hefty learning curve on these with the speed involved I should think (y)

Cheers Dean....never spotted the level of the land...will try for a slightly lower POV tomorrow...cheers for pointing it out (y)
I still struggle when more than 2 riders do the jump at the same time...one in focus & the rest out normally ...still ,back there again tomorrow for more practice:)

think the individual shots are all fab in their own way and do work as a tripthing to tell the story of the day. Cracking processing on the sky in #3.... LOVE that!

agree with Dean about the land / sky line being too similar in 2 and 3, and also find the background behind the images distracting... think it should complimnent rather than comete with the images. partic the bits top and bottom of #1. either 2 or three look like they could have worked. maybe even being stretched across to have one image as the BG rather than all three?

And how can anyone not like Mr Hoey!

Thanks Graham.....oddly enough that sky is actually pretty much sooc...it was wicked....several minutes later the hail storm arrived

Agree with comments on the border...just trying stuff out....I'm posting a more normal white bordered version further down :)

Time - great idea, very well pp'd. Works a treat.

Swirl - that's just brilliant. I've no idea how you did that but it's an excellent result and I really like it.

Linked - again a good idea and well shot. Not sure that border effect adds much to it though.

Thanks M....comments duly noted re the border...see below for a more normal image.....

Nice idea to have a start, middle and finish line. It certainly links the race but I have to say as much as I like Gavin Hoey I'm not a fan of this border. I don't feel it matches the style of the images you've included.

Cheers Peter.....yup , agree on the border...but I have to try things out .....normal one posted further down.....:)

Hi Lynne
Time reshoot is top quality. Clean , clear, well lit, very crisp and uncluttered.(y)
Swirl - good effect and well handled . It really fits the bill
Linked - i like the idea but as you have said, some flaws. I am not keen on #1 as it is too hard for a non-aficionado to realise that it is the starting grid. Agree about the improvement that would accrue fro the introduction of bikers in all 3 shots. The frame looks ok in part but a bit messy in others and the LHS does not match the other 3 'bars' which seem to have a curved surface.

Thanks Alan...I'm back at the Moto x parc tomorrow & will try to get some shots with riders in them......hopefully we won't have hailstorms to contend with this time! & yup , frame comments noted , agreed with & acted upon........below :)

Fatigue and Photoshop don't work well together :)

You've well with the PSery. There are faults which looks like you are are of.

I like the drop shadow but would like to see it with a white BG. It's a pity the lighting didn't remain even for all the photographs.

The perspective really works well for each photograph and this adds to the sence of drama.

Good show.

Cheers.

Cheers Andy.....see below for a more normal border..... as for the lighting....pah ! We had strong sunshine , weak sunshine, clouds & hail storms...not a prayer of getting simlar shots as the lighting changed roughly every 5 mins......played havoc with me settings :-)

Motorbikes

Motorbikes

I love motorbikes :)

Really like the middle picture a wonderful action shot

Oh yes....we love motorbikes.....

Can see I'm going to have to watch you as I'm a bit of a Gavin Hoey fan at the moment as well. May have to be quick of the mark on some themes ;)

Three great shots there and like the framing (y)

Thanks , I'm in love with Mr Hoey....he makes everything so easy to understand :-)

Hey ho......comments re the border on the Linked shot prompted me to re-do it with a more normal border....

took me bloomin ages to figure out the drop shadows behind each shot!

& who the bloomin hell has been messing with Flickr....logged onlast night & it said I had to create a login through Yahoo instead of FB....managed that & all was normal....just gone back in to up load this shot & it's gone all new style pants rubbish ....not liking it at all !!!!

Very nice, great moody sky at the finish line.

You've done a good job on the ps ery ;) it is a nice frame with a nice drop shadow.

Hi Lynne, I think the idea is great it does tell a story but not liking the frame in the first one, sorry as you seem to have put a lot of work into it
the second one is much better, drop shadows are really good so time well spent there.
I have been away for a few days come back and flickr is crazy

Cheers Mark..... I'm learning albeit very slowly !

That's much better IMO. Nice and clean and your drop shadows are really coming along.

Cheers.

Thanks Andy...yeah , simple frame works much better....but I gotta try these things

No worries Alan.....1st frame was to busy for sure but I gotta try stuff out...got an image in mind that should suit it better !

Flickr Pro now cancelled....after it wouldn't let me login , moved the layout again & forced me to create a Yahoo address...jeez , 4 flippin email addy's now ! Not paying for something I don't like.....free is better even if I don't like it :D

& finally I've managed to sort my Step Shot.......

I really didn't want to shot Steps , don't know of any nice spiral ones round here so I had a fall back idea . I suspect it will be very much marmite......A bit of a play on the phrase...Step In To The Light.....

Another chance to listen & learn from Gavin Hoey :
took the 3 shots , edited the bulb in RAW using adjustment brush (another new discovery) , copied, pasted ,rotated & transformed the bottom of the bulb till it fitted somewhere near right, increased canvas size , duplicate layer, flip vertical, apply gaussain blur, brush out lower section & reduced opacity to hopefully create a slight reflection to ground the image .
Took the Woody shot, copied & pasted it on to the bulb image, duplicate layer, flipped vertical, moved to position, applied gaussian blur, brushed some away, decreased opacity & merged.
Had a cup of tea :D
Selected the Woody image , pulled in to position , tweaked using warp & rotate , merged all layers , tweaked levels a smidge , cropped , sharpened , & hey presto.....
Had another cup of tea :D

What I'm not happy with......the light on the bulb ,tried a couple of differing shots but couldn't get it as perfect as Mr Hoey !
The bulb was a mare....cleaned several times but it's seen better days so spent ages cloning bits out !
Not sure about the space to the rhs.........
Woody is just not bendable enough sometimes...I couldn't get his arm in a position that looked like he was really shielding his eye's from the light
My brain refused to co-operate ( more tea needed maybe ?) in trying to figure out which bits of the bulb outline should be missing ?

Whats I'm pleased with.....contrary to all the above , I'm actually rather pleased with the outcome !
Creating the bulb without wires was easier than I expected and I think has turned out quite well
The reflection was a last minute idea to give the image a base
I managed to create the reflection of Woody without following the tutorial
The lighting works as intended I think

So , better late than never....feel free to pull it apart folks (y)

Yeah, no real crit for me. God clean BG, well composed and a well produced composite.

Crit, well....pity the left have could not have the palm outwards. But as you said nor flexible enough.

I like the gap in the bulb, but at first sight thought your forgot to add the gap for the hand, but is suspect the had isn't going into the bulb. Perhaps have it slightly away from the bulb so it doesn't cover it.

Good show, and Mr Hoey has some cracking tutorials....had any more luck with smoke :exit:

Cheers.

Nice clean image with a nice amount of reflection.

It could maybe do with a bit of the empty space moving to the other side as it looks a tiny, and I do mean tiny, bit out of balance.

You've done a cracking job on the lighting.

Another super job Lynne. Really well lit image. The re are no tell tales as to the composite work here. Reflections are great to

Have to agree with mark that it would be improved by shoving it all across to the right hand side of the frame. But that's easy to do.

Wow very creative Lynne excellent work, I am impressed. I love every bit off it and as I am not clever enough to do stuff like this, I am not even going to begin picking fault with it.:clap::clap::clap::)

Thanks Mandy...I'm not clever...I'm just finding Gavin Hoey's tutorials fairly simple to follow...give them a try....you never know :)

fully agree with Mandy brilliant stuff (y)(y)

Cheers Judi:)

I was starting to like you...till you mentioned SMOKE :punch:

Thanks Graham.....made a couple of changes , crop & broken glass....see below , hopefully it's a bit better ?

& here's a slightly different version......

added a little more space to the left , shaved a bit of the right & added a couple of bits of glass....

Dunno if it works better but this morning I realised there should be a couple of bits of glass on the floor where Woody put his foot through the bulb !

& a quick Week 14 from me , hopefully I can spend the rest of the week keeping up to date with comments.....

Whizzed up the Sheffield Botannical Gardens as they always have some fab flower displays....I saw whizzed.....1hr 20 mins to do a 25 min journey ,darn roads closed everywhere :rage: By the time I arrived I really wasn't in the right frame of mind at all but got a few I'm sort of happy with . Spent an hour playing with frames n shadows n colors.......overkill again possibly but I'm enjoying myself :p

Can't pic a preferred one so here's 3......

#1 : Thought the color on this was beautiful , had to clip the very end of the lh leaf as it was all mouldy n yucky !

#2 :

#3 Actually...I lied...I'm fairly sure this is my favourite

Thanks for looking , catch up with you all during the week :-)

Nature - brilliant work again, they are all compositionally good and bang on theme.

I have subscribed to Gavin hoey on my YouTube ages ago, but never got round to watching any off his stuff till last night.

I think #3 is fantastic... bright yellow and super focus point.

drop shadow and the sampled coloured BG set it off beautifully.

there a certain something about #2 as well, but the punch of colour in three takes it.

Nice set of photos. I prefer the 3rd as the colours are bold and the dof is nice and shallow but the focus is spot on

Step - I like this. Good PP work as well. Looks like you've followed those tutorials really well.

Nature - #3 is my favourite with the composition and sharpness being spot on but I'll have to apologise for not liking the frames on these at all. Whilst the colours are complimentary to the subject I feel they distract from the flowers.

Hi Lynne
Long time, no comment sorry :(
Step, your processing skills are simply brilliant (y)
but looking beyond them, your photography isn't too shabby either. You've captured the component parts of your image well, I particularly like the lighting on woody, evenly lit picking out all the detail. It couldn't have been easy to photograph the light bulb either. Great work all round Lynne (y)

Nature/natural, i was immediately drawn to #2. Again, wonderful lighting throughout the set but this one really stood out for me. No crit to add Lynne to be honest, great work.

Hi, not keen on#1. It's a bit busy and the flowers isn't as interesting as the others. Not an easy choice but I'm opting for #2. The simplicity works for me. The central composition was right way to go. Not keen on the pink border, though, I removed the colour on Snapseed. I feel pink in the border distracts from the flower, whereas a. Ice clean white doesn't.

Cheers.

 3 great shots Lynne, if I had to pick one I'm drawn to no.2 (y)

Really like No.3 although No.2 is also a close contender, nice and sharp with good DoF. I like the offcentre composition but again I'm not keen on the border, I think it would look just as good if not better with just the image itself.

Nontheless good work as usual :)

Hi Lynne, number three of the flower shots for me, I understand why you are adding borders etc to improve your photoshop skills but I can't say I like them
they are a bit in your face and detract from what is an excellent pic in its own right
Nice PP on step too very clever (y)

... in total agreement with blakester.

Love the yellow flower. Good composition and exposure is rock solid.

Hi Lynne, number 3 is the pick for me, very good lighting, DOF and focus. im afraid im not a fan of the frames but that's just purely personal taste. Another week with some grteat shots!
