weekly Blondie606's 52 2013 Wk 52 Water-The End :-(

beginning - a very clean image, almost too perfect! worth the wait I think :)

Still - really like the composition and the reflection. this is the type of shot I really struggle with, if I had done this the trees would have been black or highlights in the sky blown. personally I would have darkened the shadows and blacks a little because there doesn't seem quite enough contrast in it to me its a tad flat if that makes sense?

Wk 35......site's a little slow tonight ?

So....hadn't a clue what to shoot for this & limited on time again but hopefully a quick loan of the shoehorn has got me covered.......quick check on google dictionary & picked the following adjectives for Whimsical to work with.....Unusual , Odd , Peculiar & Funny.....tired my best with the polariser but couldn't lose all the reflections

2 to chose from...can't decide which backdrop is more peculiar against the funny looking beast.....

Great take on it (well as far as I know :)) - I know the car wasn't PP'd for colour, but was the background? If so great job on that too, I cannot tell.

As to background I think I prefer the country one, sort of seems like an old time juster skipping through the long grass.. lol, I know its late :lol:

I like both shots. Prefer the sky in the first but the brighter colours of the car in the second with the juxtaposition against the buildings. So I think it's a toss up.

The sky on the second one doesn't look bright enough to me though as quite clearly there was some light with the blue sky, but it all looks quite dark.

That is one crazy car, has to be the first one for me,
the car is more prominent the colour on it is better and the BG is superb really nice processing and a good composition

Like them, but #2 works for me with the shiny, new car against the gritty BG. Composition works well and does the low perspective.

Loving the first here too Lynne, great sky, but still lovely and bright on the car and the foreground grasses...

Feeling the car a bit small in the frame in the second, but you can't crop in without loosing the height of the building......
 
Should have shot it with the clowns still in there!

Cheers John.....was a wee HDR image as the sky was fairly bland , did a bit of dodging & burning as well.....love the idea of a jster skipping through the fields :lol:

hi ya....yup , 3 exposures for each ,ran through photomatix then just fiddled in pse 10 till I got what I saw in my mind :thumbs:

I prefer the second shot as I feel the industrial background fits the car and colours better.
 
Beginning is good spot. The water droplets and splitting bud are really nice, and the soft colours work well.

I have no problem with the rock and log, if anything they give me a starting point, then the meandering shoreline pulls me past them. A great sense of stillness from the reflections, and really nice colours.

My vote goes to number two, I like the bright colours against the gritty background.
I like your handling of the hdr too Lynne, it suits the subject/backgrounds.

No crit to add really, both technically very good with a bit of a twist on the weeks theme, certainly very unique.

Quick post from me as it's chucking it down on the isle of man so not conducive to being out on the bike ! Hopefully I can get caught up on comments during this enforced inside time as well :D

Curve......not my original idea but possibly gonna take some more for this theme over the next couple of days ( sunshine has been promised !)
Edited on the netbook in Picasa so no idea if it's any good.....pretty much sooc with a little tweak to bring out the color.....

Just the right amount of dof to show all the detail in the shell.
I like the soft colour tones of the shell, some nice soft lighting in there too, very pleasing on the eye.

Still - serene - excellent reflections which add to the stillness. Prefer#1 as colours are better
whimsical - good shots for the theme which I think is difficult. #2 for me as better colours on the car and good contrast with b/g.

Curve - like the high key, colours and detail in the centre. Nice soft shimmering feel. Just losing a bit of detail top left for me.
 
cool shell, super great detail in the scratches on the sides ofr me, love the lighting and DOF, which cause the top left to fade away, which actually really works for me. Hint of shadow underneath. :thumbs:

Try a horizontal flip on it when you get back home too. ;)

Upper left of the shell looks a tad hot.

I've not commented because I did think that a slight angle to the shell would work better, but looking again, Side on works better.

I did a b&w conversion and works as well.

Thanks Andy....tried several positions but kept losing detail with dof so stuck with the full side on shot :)
 
cute image - nice POV and perspective. steam isn;t really that evident coming from the funnel, so it looks a bit like a cloud, but that's not your fault... (was it slowing down on entry to the station, ready to stop??)..

Funny, if there was a person stood on the platform, I might have suggested cloning them out.... but an empty platform I wonder what it would be like with a person there.. :bonk:, can't win...

Oh, yeah :D, Lots of sharp detail Lynne, and then there's the gnomes - I like gnomes I do - has a kind of lost in time feel (if you ignore the plastic planters). Would make a good postcard. :thumbs:
 
On theme and lovley train. Nice low angle and plenty of leading lines.

Not keen on the LH hutthingy, but I had a few crops - none of which worked.

Wonder if a bit of dodging could bring out the steam more.

Bang on theme for me, again good leading lines, this time highlighting the train towards the viewer :thumbs:
Good choice going with colour, often the temptation is a B&W conversion because the engine is old but I feel this suits colour, the blue sky and vivid greens in the scene work well.

Lovely colours in curve, and nice detail. The harsh background really works with the gentle colours, and the soft shadow grounds it nicely.

Love the low angle in Power, and the tracks and kerbs really pull you towards the train. The colours and shadows give the shot a lovely late summer feel. Nice.

Cheers Graham...I know what you mean about a person on the platform....there was one chap but I couldn't get a wide enough engle to get him in as well as the other side of the track ! Wasn't too happy with the smoke from the funnel , the train wasn't stopping but the driver was slowing slightly as he must have thought I was gonna fall off in to his path :lol:

Ta muchly Iain , strangely I didn't consider a b&w...but it would have been wrong with this one I think cos it's such a cute old train & the weather/colors were just wonderful ( which is quite rare on the IOM :lol: )

Think it may be solitude......

Saw this & thought it fitted quite well , like how the yellow pops against the the whole scene....

But no matter what I did I couldn't lose the slight curve in the sea behind the rocks :bang:

This was my original idea but not 100% happy with it.....where the sand was clean the footprints didn't show particularly well so went with this one...

I like the yellow bucket, it stands out really well and the rocks look great.

I'm not too sure about the footprints though.
