HI,

Hope you can help me. I am having trouble with my wordpress blog. When I try to view my blog I am getting this message:
~
Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to jenmeiklejonblog.com

Try reloading: jenmeiklejonblog*.*com

Additional suggestions:
•Access a cached copy of jenmeiklejonblog*.*com

•Search on Google:
~

Although I can view it on my ipad

I have cleared cache & cookies and my host have confirmed there are no problems at their end. Would anyone know what Im missing here? Everything else works fine but im really stumped with this one! Many thanks in advance

Jen

Could simply be a caching issue, try using your ip address and see if that loads it ( 97.74.144.145 )

Thanks Gramps - do I paste that into my browser? I just tried to and this is what I got:

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 97.74.144.145.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Well that's odd, I suspect that there is a temporary issue with your ISP unless your iPad is on the same connection as your PC - if it is then it has to be an issue with your PC and caching would seem the most likely then.

Try following these instructions if you are unsure Instructions

I have noticed issues in connecting to some sites over the past couple of days so it could also be a network issue if your iPad and PC don't share the same connection.

Thanks Gramps - I tried that but still the same. My ipad is connected to my computer. One thing I just remembered, Virgin media were here last week re-connecting my internet etc would that have caused a glitch or something!?

Assuming that you are able to get onto the Internet and view other sites then that is odd and I am not sure that I can assist further - I suspect a network issue beyond your control but doubt that it was caused by the visit of Virgin Media.
Little comfort but I am also able to view your website so potential customers still can connect.
You could try to reboot your router (switch off for about 10-15 seconds then back on) and your PC, but I'm clutching at straws now ... sorry!

I can get your blog no problem too.

What about stopping any firewall you have on, then try to connect.

Thanks Gramps - Ive tried rebooting and still nothing. Its a much neglected blog but I was hoping resurrect it. I really am stumped with this one.

Mike - Should I disconnect something to do that? I can view everything else and surf around normally except the darn blog :(

Dave, im using firefox and Im sure I upgraded to a new version this last week and wondered if that has altered my settings. Im pretty sure this has something to do with my computer settings as its the same in IE and everyone else is viewing the blog no probs. What would you suggest?

are you using a link saved in your favourites/bookmarks to access the site?

If so delete them and type the address manually into the browser.

And whilst you are at it clear all your temporary internet files and cookies and reboot your computer and try again.

Dave - I disabled Mcafee for a few minutes and I could access my blog. Thank you. Now, how do I go back to be able to view it like I did prior to my FF upgrade? I dont really want to leave my computer unprotected.

Keith - I tried that and with firewall enabled I still don't have access.

It must be a setting in Mcafee I dont know Mcafee so cant help but it may well be in the privacy settings or blocked sites or it may just still work when back on if it does clear the cookies as it will be using the cached version and then try again, see if you can see it or not

Update - Blog and I now re-connected! Netguard needed to be disabled until McAfee Engineers sort out a temporary issue. Thanks again everyone.
