Yesterday went out to Weald Country Park near my town of Brentwood with my Pentax 6x7 Mk II loaded with 2002 dated Fuji Provia 100 I wanted to use up as it had a couple of shots from my last London trip on it. There was some SUN and Autumn Colours -- I used several lenses then saw some Cows grazing for 'Foreground Interest' so set up tripod and just about to click when sun went in -- I looked up -- a BIG BLACK CLOUD as far as i could see -- so came home to a warm coffee and tasty sandwich -- 2 frames left!

yes -- the Battle of Britain all over again -- I hope you went down into your Air-Raid Shelter ---

Well one of those bombs http://bombsight.org/explore/greater-london/barnet/colindale/ took the back of the house out with a near miss while we were sleeping, but it was our lucky day as no one was injured. In that area was a branch of De-Havilands nearby, Hendon aerodrome and a few more miles was Handley Page....all a laugh for me as a baby and giggling although covered in glass etc o_O
My grandfather was lucky in WWI.

Wow, I'm glad no one was hurt there Brian. That's an incredible story, that's for sure.

That is pretty amazing Brian. My granddad was also lucky in WW1, nearly lost a leg but survived and lived to 83.

Thanks.... it's all luck when bomb sites were so inaccurate at the beginning, and the target was missed and all the surrounding houses could be hit (even up to five miles) and just to end my little story:- I bought a house not far away and later on noticed there was a gap where the roof meets the wall, anyway asked my neighbour (who bought his house in about 1938) and he said that's because bombs took out some houses in the next street and the blast lifted the roof  and what's worse the government paid for it to be repaired but the owner just kept the money....cheap skate

Did you mention a while ago he had the choice of amputation or severe problems for the rest of his life, he chose to keep and everything turned out ok?
Did anyone think of a god for luck as it could explain the origins of life, the earth and moon and big brother Jupiter saving us from meteorites etc because of its powerful gravity and so on... makes you think in between taking shots :D

Yes, he was lucky that there was a young American surgeon at the hospital who was trying out a new technique for repairing damaged muscles and ligaments. The procedure was unproven but good old granddad was always willing to try new things so they went ahead with it. He never had a moments trouble with that leg for the rest of his life... the other one was knackered though :D

The answer is 'Keep Looking UP at the CLOUDS ' -- we may be doomed ---
