I need to purchase the above. I usually buy Datawrite DVD's which seem decent quality - rarely get coasters....

I need to buy more now, and have been thinking about getting printable ones....I don't have a printer at the moment, but am hoping to get one in the near future...

Now, whats the difference between getting something like Datawrite printables against the likes of Taiyo Yuden?

Are Taiyo's really THAT much better?

Datawrite Pack of 50 = Approx £8
Taiyo Pack of 50 = Approx £20-25

Are they worth the extra cash?

Aone are probably the best bang for the buck brand imo
Verbatin for premium discs.

I would only use premium if it was something that was very important to archive.

They look to be in the same league/price range as the Datawrite's......

Do you have experience of printing on the Aone's?

As Chaos said I would only use premium quality discs. These will be 100% error free.

Taiyo Yuden and Mitshibishi are both top names to look for. Verbatin is one brand that uses their dye coatings.

Datawrite use various dyes from different sources. You would have to find out which.

Yeah I have used lots of Aones for backups and not had any coasters.

you can get verbs at most pc shops even curries pc worl
Asda been doimg them for ages I think they £20 pr 100 discs been using verbs for ages

I aint talking about the quality of disk itself....My datawrites are brilliant for that....

Mainly for the printable qualities......Would the more expensive ones have benefit over the cheaper ones?

Doh I read it as burning quality, as for actual printing using a printer I have no idea how good they are.

I made that mistake as well, I thought you were after good quality disc's for storage.

I have never printed on a disc so can't really comment on it, I buy the plain tops.

I gather storage quality is secondary to you but I have dud disc's that were perfect only 4 or 5 years ago that are unreadable now.

That's why I choose my disc's more wisely now. You asked about Verbatin, I find you can't go wrong with them. Although I use +R not -R.

Thanks for your input Kelvin....

I've used Datawrite for years now, and never really had a problem with them......

By the looks of things, not alot of people print on DVD's!

I used Ritek G04 or G05 white faced printable disks, great quality on both fronts (printing quality and write quality). G05's are considered some of the better quality disks for keeping your data safe for a long time. :D

Sure are :)

They are what I have used for years, and I still have data on disk from ~8-9 years ago that works fine without errors.

Not a fan of ebuyer personally, scan or aria are my usual choice..

Thanks for all the info Sam...

Any ideas if prints hold up after a while on the disks too?

I'll have a look at the suggested sites.....Ain't bought anything from ebuyer for ages! They charge alot for delivery!!

I have some disks that have been printed (full colour as well) around 5 years ago, and the images still look good.
They are not exposed to direct sunlight where they are stored, and are stored in a cool ventilated area so ideal circumstances for disks to last well..

Very happy with the results :)

Sam

No problem. :) :D
