I use either Verbatim or TY nearly always from SVP.
In my early days backing up the kid's DVDs, I used the cheaper blanks (Datawrite, Datasafe and unbranded) but found that they failed to read after a few months.
So I changed to Verbs and have seen much greater longevity.
However, a little while back I upgraded to a pioneer 110 drive and started encountering occasional 'hangs' when writing to the Verbs 16x DVD-Rs so I switched to TY 8X printables. These have been great and analysis shows very good results in CDSpeed tests.
Given my early experiences, I wouldn't like to trust my photos to the cheaper ones so always pay a little extra to be sure.
