weekly blakester's 52 for 2012, Week 52 "Busy (Beach Party)" Post 1215 FINISHED

Oi, do I hear some negativity creeping in there? All I can say is 'av a word'! This project is personal, for me it's a count down to quitting my job and something to give me focus! Personally I'd be happy to see a 52 project adapted to fit the pebble feet thing because I love them:clap: Default? yes, safe? Always:D

That time thing is always a struggle, but there's always time for a little tipple whilst rearranging pebbles on the beach :D
 
I don't think there's anything wrong with using similar subjects over and over again. In fact there are lots of people on this forum who do just that! The ebb and flow idea works well, it's creative and it tells a story.

I took the positive from it, in that if it passes the (im)famous Lynton high standards of customer service then it is good enough for the general public :lol:

Thanks Marsha, not negativity as such, its just that I always want to put my best work on show and if I can't devote enough time I don't feel happy with it. Sarah (the mod) said way back at the beginning about having a full 52 with pebble feet, that would be a big ask :lol:

Thanks Bob, I must try harder though, I can only use my default option so many times before people get fed up with them (they might have already :lol:)

hi Iain, there is nothing wrong with posting lots of pebble pics (they're great!) I've being doing lots of wine glass shots recently!:)

I know what you mean though I've found it difficult recently to take what I want and have not been happy with some of my results. Don't be so hard on yourself, your pics always fit the theme and are all lovely photos to be proud of!:):)
 
To continue the words of support...... the idea of pebble feet is great and can fit many themes but as you say it would be a big ask to cover all 52 using the same approach. This fits this weeks theme for me because of the bubbly water at the top of the frame. Nice one and keep going.

Late again with this one but only just ;)
Today i paid a visit to one of my favourite places for photography, London, or more specifically Milennium Bridge.
The bridge has a number of padlocks attached to it and below are two which I thought represented love and friendship. C&C welcome as always.

I'm late with this theme too:bonk: I also got some shots today, just not had chance to check them yet!

I think this is superb (again) :clap: Lovely colours on the padlocks, great composition and the cables lead you through the shot :thumbs: A very unusual subject to represent friendship as well!

My only teeny tiny critique, in the bottom RH corner there's a little grey triangular bit that bothers me, I would maybe crop/ clone that out!

God my attempt seems weak now :coat:

Thanks Marsha, I dropped lucky with this as I have photographed padlocks on the bridge before but the Corporation of London come along and crop them off. They don't want any clutter on the bridge :shrug:

The little grey triangular bit is part of the bridge support, I hadn't noticed it to be honest. I thought the colours of the padlocks would hold the viewers eye on them.
 
Well spotted, Iain. Lovely colours and overall exposure. Really nice storyline.

Minor issue, but I'd like to see. Tad more at the top.

Not sure if I have one with more room at the top as my love of the 105mm continues and it makes for some tight framing :D
 
It's a shame they chop them off, they'd be quite an attraction if they were left in their hundreds!

Oh and I work in London now (well the edge of it) I wish I had more confidence to get in and visit these places!

You should try it Marsha, no-one bats an eyelid at you walking around with a camera. Go up in the daytime like I did this afternoon. I spent quite a while on the bridge, speaking to quite a few people wondering why I was taking photographs of padlocks and what was their significance.

London is a surprisingly friendly place for such an obviously large city.

Attend one of the many TP meets often arranged its a lot of fun.

I really like it on so many levels.

One the pink and blue (I may have something else going on about that at the moment)

Very clean and separated from the background...

Lovely composition...

It is a bit of a lottery when visiting the bridge as to how many padlocks are there. The Corporation of London do come along and crop them off. Yesterday there was loads, most not nearly as photogenic as these pair.

Glad Mum and babies are doing well Lynton. That is you sorted for a photography project for the next few years. :D
 
Nice image, there is a row of railing in the Albert dock in Liverpool were there are a few of these I couldn't figure out why at first had to look it up online. great colour and dof to it

As I am away all week again, I thought I'd get this in early.
The idea struck me and Mrs Blakester was my model :D
My thinking behind the photograph is that its a womans perogative to change her mind, in this case the colour of nail polish.
First one is SOOC as discussed, I have posted a pp version below, which was levels, curves and brightness.

Flow....can't crit cos I just love your pebble images....wonderful imagination , right on theme, lovely colors...nuff said ...beautiful :clap:

I like the angle & the polish colors , very strong but not overpowering...oh , & I love her thumb ring :)
SOOC version....can't decide if I prefer the skin tones in this as opposed to the edited version :thinking: The towel is very slightly off white but can see more detail in it . The bright line on the edge of her watch is a tad distracting


Edited version : the white towel around the edge of the frame appears blown but is a better color . More detail in her skin but not quite so keen on the color ? Bright line across her watch still draws my eye but lighting anything so shiny is always gonna present a problem


Still pondering why we're doing SOOC :thinking:
 
Very good idea for theme and well handled. Like the composition and the choice of colours. As to skin tone, somewhere between the two would be my preference. Also, I think that I would have dispensed with the watcha nd bracelet and gone just for the rings and nail colours.

Nice composition but I think I would like to see all the finger nails in focus though:thinking:

For your SOOC, is this the RAW converted, or the original JPEG? Isn't it amazing the difference a little PP makes?
 
Flow... well... it might be safe, and everything, but it's a cracker of an image. Nice inclusion of the water/bubbles to incorporate flow.

Friendship, now that's something different, fits the theme perfectly, and very well taken.

Change, an excellent idea and well shot... Not sure on the pp... to me it seems a little bright, but then I'm on a crappy laptop... of course, on my Mac it would be even brighter still :D
 
Friendship - What a great take on the theme. I really like the pp you've done to this one. The tones of the colours really suit.

Change - I must admit to preferring the first one as the colours (particularly the red) aren't too saturated compared with the edit. Are you sure this wasn't a self portrait :lol:

Great and unusual take on the theme. I prefer the skin tones of the SOOC, strange enough, but the overall exposure and colours in the processed.

The watch does draw my eye out of the frame a bit...

:lol: that would be difficult, but definitely challenging! There was a guy who started this 52 trying to include his bike in every shot:bonk:

Change was a bit of a rush job if I am honest. The SOOC camera version was obviously as is but the edited version on looking at it again, I am not happy with the skin tone but hey I've posted it now and have to stand by it.

Thanks Marsha, SOOC is jpeg. As for the pp, I don't like the skin tone in the edited version :( I hear you on the finger nails all being in focus too, it would have made quite the difference on viewing it.

I agree Marsha, it would be difficult, not sure my imagination would be up to that.
 
well a bike is ok, but looking what I've done this year I reckon the theme should be a very small item :lol:
 
I am still on a course for work, going into last week of a 4week residential course. Weekends are at a premium at the moment so I have to get my 52 photograph done and submitted for fear of falling behind with it. It is with this in mind that I have yet again resorted to my default :(
This weeks theme "Natural" really seemed to fit my subject, I couldn't get away from it. I thought, "natural materials" and also a natural relationship "man's best friend"
I promise that when this course is finished I will get back on it and be a bit more imaginative but for the time being here it is. C&C welcome as always.
