Hi Iain,

Dam two more great shots, how lucky to have the perfect subject for this week.

Number one, I agree about the right hand side needing a crop but otherwise I like it as is.

Number two, I had no idea how big this was until I saw this. I think the people are needed to add scale, maybe not the lady posing with her leg up though!

Thanks Marsha, yes I was lucky, not sure how long the model will be there.

I revisited earlier one morning before work and managed to get a few sans people. I am not sure about it to be honest, I think I prefer with people in the frame :thinking:
 
Time - I was after a similar shot but the egg timer I bought wasn't good enough for this. Nice shot although would agree with others about the RHS

Body - Good one. I like the use of the people on the balcony.

Thanks Peter, the RHS is an issue, I may try and get something else in this weeks reshoot.
Body, the one with the balcony is my preference too.

Well , I can't choose between the 2 images you've posted for Body as both are spot on , in focus , sharpness , colors both bright & muted & what an original idea for the theme :clap:

I think , after much pondering , that your 1st image pips it to the post....simply ,& this is being really picky , there is a small blurry area to the RH top of the base on the 2nd image...which reminds me of my attempts at cloning :bang:

#1 was my choice too, #2 was posted more to give viewers a sense of scale/perspective.

Well this is a first for me I think, I am posting my take on the weeks theme on the same day the theme was announced :woot:

I have been wanting to do this set up for a while now and what better reason than for this weeks theme of liquid.

Taken in the back garden on the decking with a fish tank, used my flash remotely and remote trigger to activate the shutter. After a few attempts sorting the focus, I managed to get the shot below. A few tweaks in pp and here it is. C&C welcome as always.

oh absolutely brilliant - it would take me more than a week to get good enough to do drops n stuff so I am going to have to think of something else :lol:

I have never done water drops before but if it can be compared to doing the above, I think its very much a case of trial & error.....and loads of patience. I think the focussing is the main issue. Manual focus on an object in the plane of your subject then snap away until you are happy. Give it a go, I am 100% sure you can achieve it.
 
ummm ok I will give it a try - I have the whole week off so no excuse really - and I have an empty fish tank :lol:

Cheers Andy, you make a very good point there.
My thinking behind the choice of focus was that with the water splash being the foreground object, if it was oof would it not be more distracting :thinking:
I am not sure now, but I've got all week so time to have a further play.
 
I think it looks better with the water in focus, but I will try both :)

:lol: Attempt #3 would ideally be a combination of both I suppose Marsha.
I set this up again this evening for #2 but the light was different. I think the bright sunshine of this morning really helps things. I think the wider shot needs the bright light as I don't think one flash is powerful enough to light everything evenly.
I am away on a TP meet tomorrow but I may have another go on Monday (weather permitting). I am not sure, as maybe I should settle for what I have got, kinda breaks my own rules to go chasing around after the cover all image :thinking:
I will see what Monday brings ;)

number 2 for me it doesn't need so much of the arm as the subject is liquid very creative and superbly executed :clap:
 
Body - bang on theme and nicely done. I like that the people give an idea of size but personally think the image would have more impact without them.

Liquid - I prefer the framing and colour of 1, but the focus on the hand in 2 is better. 2 I find overly contrast-y, which I think looks good on the water but not so good on the hand. The idea is fantastic though and very well done, definitely on theme.

Cheers Allan, I am happier with #2 also. A simple set up which I will do again as there are quite a few photo opportunities with it.

Thanks Vicky, opinion seems to be divided on with/without people. I do have some with no people, I may post them up.
Yes, I am happier with the focus on the hand in #2. The over contrast look is not for everyone I can appreciate. :)

Onto this weeks reshoot, I wanted to redo "time" as I wasn't overly happy with my image for that week. I revisited taking photographs of the sand timer but just couldn't get something I was happy with.
I decided to change subject and came up with below.

I won't spell out what my intentions were with this, but if I were to say:

"The time sponsored by the dandelion clock is 10:10" does this work?

Hi Iain, another fantastic week for you with three excellent shots. I keep going between #1 & #2 and can't decide between them, I would be very pleased with both/either!!

Reshoot - time. I think its 1:55 as well!! A good idea and again well taken!:)
