weekly blakester's 52 for 2012, Week 52 "Busy (Beach Party)" Post 1215 FINISHED

hi Iain

Joy - fits the theme for me. Like the mono, suits very well and the processing is excellent. Very clear, nice centering (is that a word?) and i partic like the raindrops on the bumper.

Thanks Alan , For what was a grab shot (between showers hence the raindrops ;)) I am pleased with the outcome.

Joy??? its just a car :)

Great shot though love the processing

Just a car!! How very dare you Tezz :D
Thanks for looking and commenting.

Moody is just stunning Iain, and fits the style I'm beginning to expect from you; can't fault it.

Joy is a great photo too, but although I understand your explanation, the photo on its own doesn't say joy to me.

Really great picture, powerful and gritty. Definitely joy for those that are that way inclined.

Thanks Alex, I like your description of the photograph, much appreciated. I am inclined that way

I like the PP you've given this. It almost gives it a silvery feel to it.

Thanks Peter, I am pleased with the pp outcome on this. It helped what is/was a relatively boring/straightforward photograph along.

Thanks for your kind comments too Mark, I am pleased to have a style developing.
I 100% agree with you on the fact joy needs an explanation to be on theme but I did find the theme particularly difficult to convey in a photograph, (hence the crowbar :D)

Hi Iain, Once again your pp is spot on and not over the top!:) The detail is great and the raindrops sum up our weather at the moment!:)

Well done I look forward to seeing your next entry!

JOY- love it..

Thanks Sarah, as I mentioned above, the pp was required to lift the shot but I am glad you like it. I think there is always the danger of overdoing pp to try and make something of a so-so image. This was a grab shot between rain showers, so the raindrops were unavoidable

JOY- love it..

Thanks Lynton

Nice processing, brings out the raw metallic element of the motor

Thanks Gramps, I think this was more an exercise in processing than photography for this week. I am pleased wih how this turned out though, back to photography hopefuly this week ;)

Great shot of the viaduct and corridor, both say abstract.
Really like the processing for symmetry and Moody and great subjects.
Joy - Another brilliant shot. Is that rain on the bumper, or left over from cleaning the engine? Adds another dimension to the overall effect

Thanks for your positive comments John, they are much appreciated.

Yes it is rain on the bumper, I managed to catch this shot between rain showers the other day

Hi Iain, I love your moody shot, very dark.

Joy, 3.2litres, yup I would enjoy that too! I think the pp works really well.

Andy having just put £104 in our gas guzzler, your 999cc Lupo has some major appeal:nuts:

Thanks Marsha
i am sure you would enjoy it if you like cars and driving, it is a lot of fun.

Apologies for what I am about to post but my image(s) for SMALL gets me up to date. I know some of you have seen this from me before, it is my default option. I got an idea in my head for what I wanted to do for the theme and couldn't seem to come up with anything else. C&C welcome as always but again not expected as this is just a different take on a tried & tested for me.

Small, Medium or Large?

 Iain! I'm in Hasting this weekend and we went for a walk along Hastings beach on all the pebbles, I don't know why but I couldn't stop thinking about feet!!!!!!!! I was telling my hubby about your foot/ pebble problem!

I prefer number one, lovely lighting and colours in the pebbles.

It may be your default option but it works! Simple, clean and effective shot.

I like both, #1 is a little bright around the toes of the large foot but its good composition.

#2 is really nice, the small foot on the red pebble really draws my eye.

Don't fight it, give in and make pebble feet, you know you want to ;)

Foot/pebble problem? What problem? :suspect:

Thanks Alex, its a bit predictable but it keeps me up to date.

I will have a tinker with the brightness on #1, thanks for looking/commenting.

My husband barely has enough patience to come out with me and my camera, let alone allow me time to sit and play with the pebbles!

To be fair, searching for pebbles isn't everyones choice of a good day out

Hi Iain

#1 for me - good colours and a simple to read composition. I agree with Alex's point re the light but the shadow cast in #2 seems more distracting to my eye

Cheers Alan, I see what you mean about the shadow, one of the rare occasions today when the sun shone :D

Great shooting Iain, can't pick a favourite. Theyre both top photo's.

I know I bang on about it, but your consistent with superb editing that really works well.

Your images are always worth going back to and that says something about your work to me.

Wow! Praise indeed Robert, thank you for your positive comments I am glad that you like my work. :D

Iain
So it's back to your trademark again lol. Only the second shot to view but as always a really great take on theme. Apart from the shadow already mentioned, brilliant

Both very good Iain, but number 1 is excellent, I love the colour in there and I prefer the composition.

Thanks Michael, #1 was my first choice, but thought I'd put #2 up for comparison. I have decided on #1 so taken the second one down now.

:D I'm afraid so John, if in doubt photograph pebbles
Not sure why you aren't seeing #1
I have taken #2 down now as it was second choice anyway.

Thanks for looking and your comments, much appreciated.

Hi, Iain, I do chuckle when I see these...in a good way. Works really well and because you'll soon be making a living off these C&C should be given :D

The shadows on the lower part distracts a tad and I think I'd prefer a cleaner BG, sand maybe

Overall, cracker.

I did a search on 500PX Market of Bestsellers and you have quite a few on there

I read this and had to take a peak too. Who would have thought that photos of little pebble feet would do so well, well done Iain:clap: When you're famous we can all say we know you:D

I don't know about making a living from them, that's a lot of $2 a download to be made. I think a cleaner background would work but I chose the pebble background for continuity in my pebble feet set.
Yes, they are doing quite well on 500px.

Wow - all I can say is your processing has come on loads. Your eye is spot on and subject matter interesting and varied

Thanks Dade, praise indeed from someone as talented as your good self, much appreciated

Thanks Marsha, yes they certainly seem to have caught people's interest. And I you Marsha, I won't forget my 52 family ;)

Fits the theme perfectly and a nice using pebbles. Reminds of the Goldilocks story!

Thanks Bob, much appreciated you looking in and commenting.

Hi Iain

Joy - Nice shot of a great Car, the 3.2 & quattro is such a great combo, and such a scream to drive... back to photography, liking the processing

Small - A cracking shot to add to the pebble collection, I really like what you have created with these, they all have that special feel about them, and this is no exception

Straight - looks up... looks down... *Starts to polish the crown in preparation*

Thanks Dean, of course you have that engine but in a different flavour of Audi :D

Small, thanks for your comments, the pebble collection is pretty much done now, it has run its course. I now need a buyer to come in and buy the collection out so I can retire on the proceeds ;)

There's still time yet for straight

Iain, that's a great idea and works really well for the theme... love the small one on the red stone one. The only thing, the larger rock underneath, I feel, doesn't contrast enough with the lower foot...

Brilliant Iain. Just brilliant!

Thanks John, you've made a good point about the lack of contrast in the larger rock. I am not sure whether anything could be done in PP but think that is beyond my skillset ;)

Brilliant Iain. Just brilliant!

Cheers Mark

Let me leave this here for you... please look after it

 Please see below Dean

Yes a little lastminutedotcom, so I will graciously accept the title this week.

Below is my take on this weeks theme, straight or as I interpreted it as "Look straight down"
It does require a little crowbarring into theme, my apologies but what I will take from this week is that I came up with the idea/interpretation and was able to capture the image today after work. It was taken within the week of the theme so I am drawing a little comfort from that as I have been playing catch up these past few weeks :D

C&C welcome as always
