Thanks Michael, its a wonderful piece of architecture. A passerby commented whilst I was there yesterday how it was amazing that it was all done without the use of lasers, yet it lines up perfectly.

Cynical? Not at all Marsha, there are certainly wonderful structures/buildings being built nowadays but the Chappel Viaduct and other buildings of that era have some real character about them. How many bricks that must have went into its construction :thinking:

I don't know about their bubble being out a tad Dean, I think it is more likely down to me behind the camera :D
I had to climb through some undergrowth to get a decent vantage point, then if the camera wasn't exactly square on or lens distortion I couldn't quite get the image with the verticals vertical and horizontals horizontal. :lol:

there's one like this on the way to Brighton, tis on my 'list'

Have you tried a tighter crop top and bottom? The rotation is a little distracting. I'd go mad with colour HDR and PP if it was mine :lol:

Excellent Iain, I knew what it was, yet the repeating patters really make a good abstract.

Summer, it's at Balcombe... been meaning to get over that way myself, but never have the time.
 
I really like that Iain, but think it could have been even more abstract. I'd like to see an even tighter crop, to include just the centre receding openings.

Great stuff!

First one is the correct way up Marsha, second one on its side as I thought it looked like a corridor towards a doorway :cuckoo::lol:
 
Abstract - I really like your viaduct images and think that the close crop works well. Bang on theme and a very strong image. Great composition and exposure too.

I can't believe your not happy with them, I prefer them to your Felixstowe images. I like the ad-continuum but both look a little unsharp in the foreground.

Cheers Nick, I am happy with the viaduct images, its just that I couldn't get them to be symmetrical (sp). Whichever way I tried to get the perspective right there was always some horizontal or vertical not quite correct. The close crop seems to have alleviated that.
You are quite right about the foreground unsharpness on the Felixstowe images. It was a bit of a compromise on focal point on these, I could crop the images a little to remove some of the foreground. Thanks for your comments and suggestions they are much appreciated.
 
I like the second reshoot for Abstract
not sure about the close crop for the bridge pic seems a bit to close for me

what a fab set of images for Abstract...that viaduct is a super find & great for the theme , love the symetry, prefer the closer crop, slight squiffiness does'nt bother me...lovely , could maybe see it with your light HDR touch to really bring out the tones in the brick work even more :clap:

The 2nd image in your next set simply ..:clap::clap:nuff said :thumbs:

Catching up

Leave - all good shots and you have had plenty of comments. My view is that it might be more on theme if the footprints were further apart, indicating that the person is leaving rather than standing.

Random - super shot/ Colours make for an unreal atmosphere.:thumbs:

Temperature - original idea which may not have come out so well. Not sure how it could be approached which is a pity cos such a good spot. the SLOW doesn't help.

Abstract - l like both of your sets, both with character and good detail and exposure. good colours. Can't work out wher you were standing for the viaduct shot tho. :thinking:

Cheers Allan, I am not too sure about the close crop either but it took away the slight squiffiness as Lynne below so aptly put it :lol:

Thanks Lynne, the viaduct is HDR but it is maybe too subtle :thinking: I tend to under play the HDR as some people round here really seem to hate it.

Cheers to you too Alan, I did make a template for a smaller set of feet but they didn't work so well for me so went with the larger and closer together set.

Temperature....enough said about that the better eh? ;)

Thanks for the comments on abstract, I climbed onto the viaduct towards the end of it where it gave me a better view through the structure.

A wee bit late with Symmetry but I have got there in the end.
This has again become a bit of a slog for me, I will try and keep it going so here is my take on the theme. C&C welcome as always.

I do like your HDR touch , lovely tones & a fascinating structure....ceiling of what ? Great veiwpoint , great processing & spot on for the theme :clap:

Only a few days to go now mister & then 4 days with the camera ...hopefully that'll recharge you...though as you produce images like these when it's a slog , lord knows what you'll come up with when your batteries are recharged :thumbs:

It will certainly recharge me I'm sure.
The photography is not a slog, its the 52 which I feel I lack inspiration for at times but I've came this far and it would be a shame to give it up :thinking:

Thanks Mike, it is virtually all genuine symmetry except for a little bit of cloning. It is more or less as shot with obviously some processing but what you see is what you get.
