Thanks for looking in again Nick.
This theme just 'clicked' for me, so I am very pleased with how things turned out. I am sure all other 52ers will have have weeks like this when the theme is just right up their street. I look forward to seeing those.
On that note, this weeks theme 'vice' I can certainly say will not click for me  I do have an idea of a take on the theme but exactly how I will convey that idea  is an entirely different matter.

My thinking when this weeks theme was posted was towards "Vice Versa" but couldn't initially come up with an idea to put that in a photograph.
After looking at the definition for vice versa the idea struck me of a reflection, a mirror image that could be taken either way.

adverb
1.with the order reversed; the other way around

I captured the image below, where as a further nod towards the theme, there is a bloke smoking . Your C&C welcome as always.

Very smart, maybe turn one side B&W just for an effect. ;) I like it though, well done.

Thanks Alby, one side B&W is a good idea, never thought of that but wouldn't know how to even if I did

Hi, I'm liking your take on vice.

I had a quick edit....though the guy was a bit lost. I'll remove, if you want.

PS: ignore the colours...I really must get my screen calibrated!
Cheers

Not mine by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

Thanks Andy, no need to remove it, I enjoy others ideas.

Hi Iain

a great shot for the theme.... & works on all counts for Vice....well spotted...really like it

thanks Lynne :)
On reflection (no pun intended) I am glad the guy was sitting there smoking, it may have been a bit more of a crowbar into the theme without him.

Reminds me of Harry Worth (oldies only I think will remember what I am talking about) - I like the image very much, a nice angle on the theme and definitely a keeper

Thanks Gramps
I dont know about the Harry Worth reference but glad you like it.

Harry Worth :D

The penny's dropped Gramps, got you now

Really good idea! Vice versa had not even entered my head. Nice picture, Andys edit is good too.

Nice colours, good focus and good spot to take such a picture.

Thanks Alex, I had found the location when I worked around the area and intended to revisit with my camera. As I say, the guy sitting smoking was a bonus for this theme.

No worries Lynne, leave it up. As I mentioned to Andy, I enjoy others ideas. Your exercise in PP gets 10/10 from me ;)

very nice shot Iain,

Bit late catching up this week so I’d better make a start

I had the same idea but I was the same as you I couldn’t think how to pull the shot off I was more thinking all the colours should be different i.e. black to white and vice versa.
I don’t think this works to be honest as really it’s just a reflection. Sorry

Fair enough Trevor, can't please everyone.

What an unusual idea Iain !!!

As sharp as ever, such a clean reflection, great colours - Really like that

Cheers Dean

I like it too, in fact I like all 3 versions!!

Thanks Paul, glad you like them.

Vice - Good interpretation of this weeks theme, the relative surface look really shiny and clean for a the street, great shot - Nick

Vice
Well done Iain, great shot.
did something i couldn't, i also thought about using vice versa but had no idea hot to go about it.
you managed it, and with a great shot.

Cheers Darren, it perhaps needs a wee bit of a crowbar for it to fit the theme but hey ho!

Thanks Nick, much appreciated.

Iain I like that idea. It's always good seeing everyone's interpretation of the theme!

How did you do the reflection as the left side is a tad blurry? Or was that deliberate?

Thanks to you too Marsha.
The left side is the window of the building which I would guess the glass isnt perfect so giving that effect.

Hi Iain,

Vice - intelligent idea carried out well. Must admit that it would never have occurred to me. I like all of the versions too but I think that the fine blue sky gives the better shot.

Thanks Alan
Intelligent  thats a first for me!
Seriously, I had the idea to use vice versa but thought at first it would be too much of an ask to put it into a photograph. I know it needs a little explaining but I am pleased with the result. Thanks again Alan, much appreciated.

Hi Iain, that is a great take on vice, the person smoking is a great bonus. Well done.

Thanks Michael
Yes the bloke smoking was a bonus as i didnt want to take too literal a view on the theme. This weeks theme will be more of an ask not to go literal :)

Very good Iain, extra points for creativity, and a great image to boot.

Morning Iain.

Magical - cracking set of pictures, can't fault any of them at all, love the processing on them too.

Vice - again another wonderful shot and bang on theme too. Also like the one with the mono split.

Nice shot for vice! I like your original best, though I get what Andy and Lynne were trying to do.

Could also have worked well with a bit of split toning I think, to give it an old world film feel? Maybe I'll give that a go and this can turn into the "edit Iain's pictures" thread!!!

Definitely works best with the guy there; you're right, it might have been pushing the theme a touch too far without!!

Cheers John, I get the impression I was pushing it a bit with the theme ;) but whats a bit of a crowbar between friends :D

Cheers Mark, crack on with an edit if you wish, as said previously I enjoy seeing others thoughts in how they would have done the photograph. Edit Iain's pictures thread  like it!

As I said to John above, whats a little crowbar into theme between friends ;)

Week 14, I have taken a more literal view on this weeks theme.
This was taken at one of my favourite photography locations, Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast. Your C&C welcome as always.

excellent pic i take it the colour is what you were aiming for

Thanks Allan. Yes i processed it to look like this, it was what i was aiming for.

I like this. The colour doesn't put me off at all. I think it adds to the drama of the image.

Thanks Peter, I wanted a contrasty, slightly darker image as I think it suits the building.

I've just realised I missed your vice shot.

I like your take on this. I have to put my thumbs up to Andy's edit as it draws the eye to the subject more.
