weekly blakester's 52 for 2012, Week 52 "Busy (Beach Party)" Post 1215 FINISHED

Hi Iain,

Yep definately on theme, nice strong colours I quite like it.

Carol

Thanks Carol, I had the colours stronger but they've been toned down a little. I do like strong colour in a photograph.

Nice win shot Iain
Bang on theme as always, this is another one i think would benifit from SC, do like the crop

Thanks Darren, never done a SC photograph might be worth a little play on this one to see if I can, cheers

Hi Iain, I've said before that even though people have the same idea the photos can be so different! This is the third connect four I've seen and a very different shot to the others.

I like the colours, it's on theme and nice and sharp:thumbs:

Thanks Marsha, its quite difficult to be original with these themes, I tend not to look at others before I enter my own. This does make for playing catch up with the comments on other threads as these past few weeks I have been posting very late in the week.

hi Iain..

good shot for win, I took some pics for connect 4 but went for something else in the end..

Oh I look at everyone's regardless! Never for ideas or inspiration, just because it's nice to see what everyone is up to!

I do have a peek sometimes Marsha but try not to in the main. You are quite correct though it is nice to see what everyone is up to. I am constantly amazed at people who seem to get the idea straight away, get a good photograph and post it Saturday morning

Thanks Neil, I will be popping over to have a look, catching up with my comments.

Playing catch up BIG Time :)

Money - Nice shot Iain, nice original take... but i'm certain you called 'Heads' ;)

Win - Nice and Bold, I like the colours, a great idea well lit

Cheers Dean, much appreciated

Hi Iain, like that, the same subject as mine! I like how it fills the frame and the colours are good too.

Thanks Michael

Good shot for win, but given that you've cropped it and so had spare tokens left over, could you not have used all red for the background, and yellow for the line, or at least swapped right column, middle two tokens, to isolate the winning line? I find it a little difficult to immediately spot it's a winning line of four.

Hi, on theme, but unless it's the miniature travel version :D, I'd like to see the whole game. It's just too small.

I'd like to see some shadows in the MB and surrounding circles.

Cheers and looking forwards to your Shiny...

Cheers Mark, I can see where you are coming from with your suggestion, your edit works well thanks:thumbs:

Great use of colours

Thanks Mandy

Thanks for looking and commenting Andy.
I tried various lighting but settled for this. This was a crop from a shot of the whole game. My thinking was that it was a bit abstract rather than a record shot of the whole game.

Iain, great idea, and it works well, fitting the theme perfectly.

Hi Iain

now why didn't I think of Connect 4....got one up in the loft...next to the Monopoly box :bonk:

Nothing to add to whats been said so  from me

Thanks John, not an original idea by any means but it keeps me in this 52.....just :)

Thanks Lynne, your comments are always very welcome.

Another play with the Connect4. Definitely shows the win even if yellow cheated by having one too many goes or far too few in Southdown's version

As seems to be the norm for my 52 this year.......lastminute dot com.
Below is an image from perhaps my favourite area of London for photography, around St Pauls Cathedral. This is my take on the theme of "SHINY". C&C welcome as always.

Wow Iain that's a cracking shiny shot:thumbs: Lovely blue sky really adds to it, nothing else to say really.

Thanks Marsha, I really lucked in with the weather, it was a cracking day to be out taking photographs.

Win: Ian I love this! I didn't see the original more saturated version, but this is spot on. I did spot the winning line (you get canny when you play this with a strategic-thinking determined-to-win 7 year old!!) and like that it's not the obvious up-down orientation, which I think would have sliced the picture into sections.

Shiny: Well spotted and very well executed. Definitely on theme. It's the sort of image you would see in a tourist brochure, suggesting interesting places to explore - a bit Alice in Wonderland-ish.

Jean

Niiiice shot for shiny :) is that you on the steps with a long lens? If not, how did you keep yourself out of the shot?

Thanks Jean, the original was a wee bit saturated once I had uploaded it, I just toned it down a little. Yes I have fond memories playing connect four with my two girls when they were wee, its such a simple game but the girls were very competitive.
Thanks too for your kind comments on shiny, as said it is a bit of a favourite area for me.

Shiny - What a great shot love the reflection and you PoV.

Thanks Darren, glad you like it.

Cheers Mark, yes that is me sitting on the steps trying to make myself as small as possible. I thought about cloning myself out but decided not to in the end.

Shiny is fantastic - great photograph

Thanks Richard, it is a great peice of street furniture with a lot of photographic potential.

Hi Iain, playing catch up again :bang:

Love the colours on your WIN shot, bang on theme and nice and sharp too, and loving your SHINY shot too, and you fell really lucky with our wonderful British weather too

Hi Iain

Shiny - really good shot. Excellent composition with the oof monotone background contrasting with the shiny ball and the soft colours of the buildings -with St Pauls standing out aginst the blue sky.

Flash of yellow on left (daffodils?) and the way that the reflection of the tall modern building wraps around the ball and frames the inner picture.

Thoroughly good:thumbs:

No worries about playing catch up Simon, I find it difficult to find the time to get around everyones threads.

Thanks for looking and your kind comments.
Yes I did fall really lucky with the weather for this one, the blue sky really worked in my favour.

Thanks Alan, you are quite correct it is daffodils in a planter beside the shiny ball. Cheers

really liking your shiny photo. Lovely colours in the reflection.

Thanks Michael

Really nice shiny shot, nice clear reflection and looks to be a lovely day. Says shiny to me :)

Thanks Alex, it was a lovely day, I landed lucky with the weather, especially as it was a rare opportunity to find time for photography during the week.

Well I have really surprised myself this week in getting my photograph for this weeks theme "Magical". When the theme was announced an idea sprung to mind quite quickly. I spent most of yesterday creating my props.

Below is my take on Magical.

A few extras for good measure.

Sitting Pretty

Captured

NB. No fairies were harmed in the making of these photographs. The captured one was released after.:D

Iain i have to admire your crativity, i love captured its brill the DOF and reflections off the glass really make it

What a cracking set of images:thumbs:

Number one has a very mystical feel to it. Number two is my favourite, I prefer the DOF and composition.

Number three is quite clever.

Now did you make these three characters for this theme?

Thanks Marsha, I am glad you like them :)
Yes all the figures were made by my own fair hands yesterday. It took me about 5 hours to make them.

Thanks Liz, I enjoyed making the figures almost as much as photographing them this afternoon.

What a great series of on theme photos - really well done
