weekly blakester's 52 for 2012, Week 52 "Busy (Beach Party)" Post 1215 FINISHED

Brilliant shot, love it! The lighting is wonderful; any chance of a bit of a clue what you did; lighting is definitely where I have most to learn?

What theme did you use that little chap for in 2010?

Hi Iain,

What a great shot, the lighting, compostion, subject all spot on, I love it.
Now the wire man is out of the box, is he going to have some more adventures?

Carol

Thanks Carol
I will wait and see which themes he would work with. You never know ;)

Great image. I like the composition and lighting.

Thanks Peter, it was quite a simple set up but I am happy with it.

That little guy is awesome. You should do a 52 based around him. Great shot.

Thanks Phil, a 52 around the figure  that would certainly test my creativity.

As mentioned above, it was a simple set up. It was lit from above by the room light, I had off camera flash, camera right. The flash was not quite bounced, I had the flash head tilted around 45 deg with the little bounce card raised. I played around with different flash positions, it was sat on the table beside the box/figure.
For my 2010 52, the figure made an appearance for "Transform"

Hi Iain

thats a great little figure & spot on for the theme....like the lighting , the reflection...yup like it all

What a cracking shot, perfect composition and lighting, I love it.

All my questions have been answered already:thumbs:

Thanks Marsha, glad you like it and also you've had your questions answered :D

Really like handmade. Good shot and nice composition.

Will also look out for glass at Ikea too!

Thanks Alex. It was a while ago I got the glass but I am sure they will still stock it.

This is posted a bit late in the day  but going to work in the dark and returning in the dark gets in the way of my photography

The idea for this photograph came to me during the week. The thinking behind it is the phrase
"See a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck"

I had intended my daughter to be the model but a teenager out of bed at 8 o'clock on a Saturday morning :cuckoo:

C&C welcome as always.

Hi Iain, a very good take on the theme that. The 1p stands out fairly well against the bg. Like it.

Thanks Michael, it was a bit last minute but I am happy with the result.

I am confused. You're Scottish and were quite happy to leave the penny there until after you'd taken pics of it?????????

Great idea for money.

Only thing for me, and I know you could do anything otherwise the penny would be too small, is have a bit more of the legs in, if you know what I mean.

Cheers.

Lynton, Lynton, Lynton..... such stereotyping

Thanks Andy, I agree but had to compromise on scale.

It might have took some time, but I think it was worth it.
Very good idea, thinking out of the box for that one Iain

Cheers Darren
It will probably be the same this week also, why does work get in the way of our hobby  :D

I like that. It looks grainy, but I think that's the texture of the ground and the mottling on your shoes, not actual grain.

The bright blue of the jeans is perhaps a bit distracting; I'd possibly have toned that down a little, but it's bang on theme and very creative :)

Thanks for looking Mark. I appreciate your comments/critique.

Great idea. I like that picture.

Cheers Robert, glad you like it.

A great idea for money Iain and nicely implemented. One way you could have gotten more leg would have been to use a larger penny... one of the old ones would have worked for both aspects.

Iain - really nice idea for money, can't believe its week 10 already

Hi Iain...

very creative image for Money...why don't I get these sort of idea's :'(

The penny may be small but my eye's were drawn to it as soon as I saw the shot , so yeah...like it  Now , hate to crit & it maybe my eye's / monitor ,but there appears to be something strange going on with the feet...the left shoe & coin & floor all seem perfectly in focus but the right shoe seems soft ??

Thanks John. Thats a great idea on the old penny, I wouldnt know where to get one from though :D

A nice take on the theme, good job.

Thanks Phil, much appreciated.

Iain - nice take on the Money theme - and I presume you ensured good luck all day by picking it up!!!

It made me smile - well done for getting a shot you're happy with when you didn't have much time.

Jean

Thanks Jean, not sure about the luck all day
I am happy with it for what was a grab shot. When I last did the 52, I was in a different job with regular hours. Nowadays, I hardly know what I will be doing from one day to the next and it is tough finding photography time.

Iain - really nice idea for money, can't believe its week 10 already

Thanks Liz, yes the weeks have flown by haven't they?

Yes you are quite correct, it is soft. I am not sure whether this is as a result of my image being HDR with 3 exposures, and something funny going on in the stacking.

Can't be properly Scottish or he'd have been hit on the back of the head with the coin as he bent down to pick it up (old Billy Connolly joke)

I like the take on the theme. Good thinking.

Hi Iain,

Another good week for you, great idea nicely shot.

Carol

Last minute dot com for adding this weeks photograph for WIN.
I hope this doesn't need any explaining and it fits the brief. C&C welcome as always.

 Bang on theme that.

I'm not sure though about the colours on this, they seem too saturated and I physically feel a headache starting if I look too long at it? I wouldn't mind if I'd been drinking last night :bonk:

Thanks Paul

I have edited the original photograph and brought the saturation down a little to save you a headache ;)
I didnt want to post both versions so this is just to clarify your comments were on the original (if that makes sense :cuckoo:)

Hi Iain,

Yep definately on theme, nice strong colours I quite like it.
