weekly blakester's 52 for 2012, Week 52 "Busy (Beach Party)" Post 1215 FINISHED

Ahh.. I like it. The light trails are fantastic as they are, the starbursts add to the mood of the pic. A good take on a tricky theme.

Thanks Stephen, I am happy with the image. I would have liked to stay a wee bit longer to really nail it but we still had another 100miles to go and had to crack on.

Hi Iain

First time I've dropped in on this thread. All great work so far. But I do love your pebble shots so #1 for me

My son and I were at Southwold a couple of weeks after we met you at the TP meet. Sat on top of a breakwater post was a shell, a couple of pebbles and a starfish.... though of you!

Nice shot, well exposed and composed and a great take on the theme.

thanks for dropping by Barbara, much appreciated.

 Not my doing but funny that I sprung to mind.

Root - A very original take on the theme that, loving the star bursts and trails. Good composition :)

Thanks Roly, I am pleased with the outcome but would have liked a little more time to have had a few more goes at it.

Wonderful starbursts Iain, didnt get the connection until I saw 'back to my' roots - clever :)

Thanks Dade:thumbs: it did take a little explaining on the theme :D

A clever take on the theme. I like the way the trails lead your eyes into the picture and the Scotland roadsign just finishes off the story!:)

Thanks to you too Sarah, your comments are much appreciated.

Another great image from you Iain, I like it alot. The road signs add interest to the light trails and nicely emphasise the theme, I like the way you've done the border too.

Carol

Industry - Really liking #1

Root - This one doesn't say root to me although I understand your thoughts on this. I do like the image though. The lighting has been well handled.

Well I finally got around to capturing my week 8 photograph. This is a figure I made for my 52 of 2010 and it hadn't seen the light of day since then. I thought I'd give it another outing as I felt it fitted this weeks theme. C&C welcome as always.

Works for me!!

Happy birthday btw.....guess we'll have to give you the bumps next time we have a meet.....asuming our backs, arms and legs can handle that many!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes too, you can give the bumps a miss, maybe have a whip round instead and buy me a nice wide angle lens ;)

Nice sharp, contrasty image - like the reflection on the table, might be interesting to see more reflection.

+1 really like this shot Iain, great composition and lighting. Would be even better if you got some motion blur on that box lid, would look like it's jumping out..:)
Like the unusual pattern on the box and the colours.

Stunning image that, another fantastic week :)

Thanks Gramps, I was limited for more reflection, it is actually on a sheet of glass on top of a wooden table. I had to place the box on the long side of the glass which limited the reflection. I would have preferred more reflection too but not to be.

Hi Iain

Handmade - Good composition, focus, lighting and on theme. a nice balance of colours and patterns. To be very picky, the highlights on the edges of the lid of the box are distracting from an excellent shot.

Thanks Alan, to be honest I never noticed the highlights on the edges but can see your point.

Handmade - Great, focus, lighting and on theme. Like the shadows you have captured on the box. excellent shot.

Cheers Darren much appreciated.

Iain, cracking shot, bang on theme and personally can't fault this shot, love it

Wow, thanks to you too Simon for your kind comments.

Thanks Roly, movement on the box lid  now that would have taken some doing but a good idea, cheers

From a Yorkshireman to a Scotsman.....you know that ain't going to happen!! :D
be the first to put into the whip round :D

Hey Damien, you could break the stereotype mould and

This is a great shot Iain. Good lighting and I love the colours!

I was going to ask what you used for the base but you have answered that already. I use glass for some of mine as well but think I need to invest in a larger piece sometime soon!

Thanks for your comments Sarah.

I bought the glass in ikea. I got a few various sizes, the largest being about 1m x 500cm. I believe they are for table/unit tops, so are toughened, and quite practical for photography platforms.

Excellent Iain

Love the reflection on the table and overall lighting and shadows of the box but just think it needs a little more room on the right
