Week 27 of 52, my take on this week's theme of Art,
Well 4 images in actual fact, couldn't quite decide which one I favoured.
C&C welcome as always.

Not sure whats happened with #3 so can't comment on that.
Out of the other 3 I prefer the 2 with the white background.
For me #1 seems slightly better lit and the angle helps it for #1 is the winner for me.

Thanks Darren, not quite sure what you mean by #3, it is showing for me:shrug:. I am not sure which one I prefer, probably leaning towards the ones with the darker backgrounds. Cheers again for looking,

How strange #3 has the flickr box saying photo currently unavailable

Hi Iain, they are all showing for me and it's a clever take on the theme.

I understand why you cannot make up your mind because they are all good. I think I prefer 1 and 2, and I am leaning towards number one as favourite, mainly because it lacks the distraction of the background. The lighting is great and I really like the little shadow at the bottom.

Jenny

Iain, I think that's a great idea... It's tricky to decide between them... I think the simplicity of the first 2 work better for me. Of those, I prefer the second... it has more of a feel of being in an art studio. Don't get me wrong, the first is very well lit... just prefer the feel of the second.

all showing for me too.

Which do I prefer .. hard to choose .. #2 I find the background a bit distracting at the bottom left. I do prefer the slightly darker backgound of #4 but prefer the simpler drawing of #1 !

#1 for me. Great idea and good use of the props.

Thanks Jenny, the background distraction was intentional, I was trying to add interest by having some oof pattern, needs a bit more work eh?

Cheers John, I think I too prefer the coloured background images as opposed to the highkey type images.

Thanks for looking Justlooking, ;)

Great idea and top marks for the art work, i think i like nr 1 more than the rest, i like the higher key and prefer the way the model's pose is reflected in the drawing.

Cheers Chris, I see you went for the multiple choice option too this week.:D

 I love these Iain !!!!

Really great take on the theme - are they your sketches too? (if so, it's a double well done from me)

Personally, I'm most drawn to no.3.
I prefer the pose with the horizontal pad and I also prefer the darker b/g to the plain white.
The lighting seems to have worked better in this one too . . . I like the way that the colours and tones of the wood have come out and I really like the spotlight effect. (Not sure if you added a vignette in PP or if this was due to the lighting - whichever way you did it, it works for me)

My only reservation is that the sketchpad is slightly too busy in this version. Would have preferred just one or two drawings on it, similar to what you did in 1 and 2.

Iain great take on the art theme, and i am drawn to Number 2 myself with the colour oof bg. And if them sketches are yours they get a thumbs up also. if not the artist who sketched them also gets a thumbs up.

A brilliant idea that you have carried out really well. It is fun to see the different versions and how they appeal to different people. Personally I prefer the white backgrounds, and probably #1 over #3 for its greater simplicity, but it's a close call.

Thanks for your comments Sarah. Yes the sketches are mine too, drawn especially for the theme. this idea immediately sprung to mind when the theme was drawn. I prefer the horizontal sketch pad and I agree the page is a little busy. Definitely worth revisiting, must get more sketches done:D.
The vignette was not added in PP, I think it is caused by using my 70-200 lens at the long end and wide open . I do like the vignette effect, as can be seen from my most recent posts for metal, grunge and beginnings.
Thanks again Sarah, your comments and views are much appreciated.

Thanks David, as said above, this is all my own work, artist and photographer :D. I am still not set on one particular image, so I am going to leave them all up, making it more of a 104 than a 52. Cheers

Thank-you too Tracer for your positive comments, I am glad these appeal to others.

Exercise to me is "Relaxation". Below is my take on this weeks theme, C&C welcome as always.

The composition in this is completely brilliant Iain. Instantly recognisable but still leaves you looking around the frame at the detail.

Thumbs up from me

Andy

Lovely sharp shot and brilliant use of reflection. Really like the direction you've gone for this weeks theme.

Like the reflextion, I only have a small monitor and preferend the image when I couldn't see the light grey bit at the bottom !

Two great shots since I last looked in Iain. I like the first art picture. Well done for the sketch too. You are obviously artistic. The relaxation shot is really special. Its beautifully composed and so sharp. The reflection is what makes it special. Well done. I think it is your best shot so far.
Sue

That looks more like hard work than relaxation to me! ;)

Absolutely brilliant idea though. Love the composition and the reflection is a great touch. There's plenty there to really draw me into the shot and hold my attention.

I am finding the lines of the helmet showing through the lenses a little (and I really do mean a little) distracting though.
I wonder if a little piece of black card just behind the lens would have given you a cleaner reflection????

Nonetheless still a big  from me.

Very clever indeed and works very well

My only small niggle is that I would like to see the pale grey bit at the bottom darkened a little, as at the moment it is drawing my eye away. But otherwise great composition and colours.

When I first looked at it I read the helmet badge as "Hell"

Iain,

A quick catchup, (My get up and go, got up and went)

Love "art" - who was the artist?????

Relaxation is also a cool sot, though cycling is not relaxing (especially if lycra and oakleys involved) - ask Sir Lance of Armstrong!

Good couple of weeks, I am finding that I am playing catchup but already have the pic for this week, "Grace" - it's a belter (im my humble opinion)

Darren thankyou too

I can see what you mean about that, I am away from home at the moment but will look at that on my return. Cheers

Wow thankyou Sue for your kind comments, I am glad you like my images.

Love the picture for relaxation. Very clever indeed :clap:

Sarah, I noticed these lines once I had the images on computer and would rather it was a full reflection  This was a bit of a rush job on Sunday afternoon as I am working away from home at the moment and wanted to get my image in on time. I do have other images and I will look to see if the reflection is any better in those. Thankyou once again for taking the time to look and comment.

Thanks Tracer, the pale grey bit is part of the saddle, I am going to have a look at that when I get home.

Lynton  how the devil are you? :D
I am the artist in art  just a few sketches that I had worked on especially for the theme.
I am glad you like the images, thanks for looking.
I look forward to your belter (even though you do say so yourself) for "Grace"
I am still in my "ideas" phase for this weeks theme:thinking:

Catching up! All four are shots are great - my favourite is the third. I think the wooden tones of the poser work better against a muted background. I slightly prefer the positioning of the pencils in number 4, but that's being unnecessarily picky!

Relaxation is an excellent idea well executed. I like the way you 'find out' what the photo is about as your eye travels the frame and looks in the reflection - great photo!

Phil

Relaxation, excellent idea, and so well implemented. Superb. I've looked at it for a while yet and keep seeing new things.

Thanks Phil, I like your comments about relaxation, I appreciate you taking the time over the image.

Thanks John, its pleasing that others see the image in different ways. Your comments and opinions are much appreciated.

Love the "Oakleys"

Cheers Nicki

The idea for an image for this weeks theme came to me mid week whilst i was working away from home. On my return, today was a rare day off during the week so thought I'd get it in early for a change. My daughter was my (willingish) model. This is one of her dance moves :D. C&C welcome as always.

She must be an aspiring ballerina to be able to stand on point( I think thats what they call it) so gracefully. Beautiful soft colours. The pink is brought out by the flowers in the background..

Thanks Sue, Lisa, my daughter is an aspiring dancer, she will be attending dance academy (sixth form) after the summer. I think she gets her grace and coordination from me  don't listen to what anyone else says. I enjoyed taking the image, its quite satisfying catching an image that is of one's family and of something that they are passionate about and personal to them.

wicked shot, perfectly on theme Iain, nice pastel colours which work well. My only crit would be the flowers just missing a bit.

Cheers Chris, yes I noticed I clipped the flowers but as mentioned in the original post, my model was willingish. Lisa was on pointe for a while and was getting a bit fed up..pffft models eh? they can get a bit precocious at times:lol:

A stonking shot - softly lit, pastel colours, nicely judged depth of field, strong composition.

Phil

Wow, Iain, that is a fantastic shot. Your daughter (and yourself) must be very pleased with it. The colours are fantastic, the flowers are a master stroke and it fits the theme perfectly. You need to print this a large as you can and hang it on the wall.

Best shot this week IMO :clap::clap:

BTW your daughter seems very talented.

Jenny

Simply beautiful Iain.
I so nearly went searching for my old ballet slippers for this week. I'm glad that I didn't know because I don't think the end product would have been a patch on this.

Graceful, elegant and perfectly composed. The DoF is spot on. Absolutely not a thing that I'd change about it

I think it was a brilliant idea to put the flowers in the back ground

Stuart

Thanks Stuart, the flowers were an afterthought. I had taken various shots but needed something to fill the space and give the image some depth.

Thanks Jenny, we are both pleased with the image. through this 52 I have been thinking about which images to eventually print, and this is one of them. Lisa is an aspiring dancer and ballet is one of a range of styles she is learning. she obviously hasn't inherited my two left feet .

That's a lovely shot.

I really like the colours and the flowers add some depth.

Thanks JL, as said above, they were needed to add some depth to the image.

Thanks once again to all for looking and commenting, it is much appreciated. Iain
