Hey guys,

Curious to know what other people think of these,

I'm planning on getting the RS7 with the FastenR-3 buckle for my D5000.

Mostly it'll just be for walkabout shooting and a few events, having read the reviews it does seem a very good strap and i like the method behind leaving it hanging around your waist to bringing it up for some clicky action.

Just wondered if anyone has any better suggestions or horror stories?

Nope, I have two RS-7s and they're

You can buy cheaper copies though, there's a chap selling them, here in the TP Trader Sales section...

Lots of threads on this, and similar sling straps if you search. 99% very positive.

I love my RS-7's so much I gave my Op-Tech to my grandson :D

Little berger still tries stealing the RS-7 when I'm not looking though. Teenagers eh, what do you do with them?

:plusone:
yea, me too. I do loads of walking and it is so handy. Never in the way but never out of reach either.

I had the RS Sport, and as comfy and practical as it was, I just didn't trust that FastenR-3. It came loose a few times and made me paranoid about wearing it.

The secret with the fasten R3 is to wet it before attaching it to the camera. This has the effect of making the "rubber" washer grip tighter. I have been using one with my D200 and battery pack for a couple of years and it has never come loose.

Mine did...even after wetting it. Camera wasn't even close to dropping off or anything, just lost a bit of confidence and found myself continuously checking it through paranoia.

I would also recommend getting the "Brad Strap" as well to go with the RS-7s I didn't think I would need it at first but having used the RS-7s without and with the brad strap I would recommend this also.

I agree whole heartedly with this comment....having used the RS-7 for here or four months I raved about it and spread the 'gospel' as far and wide as I could. Only ever had one nagging thought ....should I have got the Brad Strap at the same time?

Now I have one and believe that the RS-7 should be supplied with one as standard...takes the experience to another level IMO

I have an RS-7 with a BRAD. It's awesome. Only niggle I have is if you wear it with no camera attached and lean forward it always tries to wrap me up like a boa constrictor!

Other than that it's great. I always wet the rubber donut, then tighten it using the clip.

I used a BR RS-7 with my 300/2.8 + converters hundreds of times and it worked brilliantly, In over two years of use the connector has not loosened one iota (wetting the rubber washer helps to screw it in tighter). I have even heard of people using it with a 500/4 lens.

I have a BR RS7 and use it all the time on my 7D, very often with a 70-200 f2.8. Had it about a year and it's never worked lose.

One of the best accessories I've ever bought....

Steve

I have the RS-7 and it's wonderful. However, when I wanted a double strap I decided the BR version was too expensive for something I would only use a few times a year. So I got the Q-Strap version. And it's wonderful.

Thanks for the heads up on the BRAD enhancement. Makes an already great strap even better!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, will take all that into account on wednesday hopefully :D

Any suggestions on getting a Joey? or are they just meh?

Practical Photography have an offer in this months edition (I received mine yesterday). If you subscribe for 12 months you get a free Black Rapid strap - not sure which strap they are giving away though. The mag is at home at the minute, but I can provide more info later if you would like? Think it's £58 ish for the 12 months.

Amazing offer, thats nearly the price of a new blackrapid strap from a high street retailer anyway! Means you would be getting the 12 month subscription for just a few ££s

i wonder how many they have to give away. if you read it they can exchange it for something else or an extra 3 issues if they run out of stock. which wouldnt be suprising once the word gets out.

I have the Joey (1 I think it's called. The small one) use it to keep my phone in...iPhone 4 so should pretty well fit most.

I have Q Straps, they are great if not better quality than the black rapid straps.

The also come with a plate to fit to the camera stll allowing tripod use without removal!

I buy the from a site called best offer buy, its so cheap!

Any chance of a link Charles....

I have the RS-7 and love it, comfortable and convenient with my gripped 7D. My only complaints being:

- swings your camera forward when you bend over.
- very expensive for what you get. The materials/build don't quite justify the £45 price tag I recently paid

Oh and the RS-7 is shaped for right-handers, just in case you're a leftie :)

The Q strap looks interesting, especially with the attachment that allows you to use a tripod, I wonder if they sell them on their own?
