I'm going to Blackpool on Thursday overnight and I'm hoping the weather conditions will be good enough for me to have a go at the illuminations and/or tower - I'm also going to the zoo in the daytime :D

Has anyone got any good advice on attempting to get a decent pic?

I've got a tripod and a cable release...

One problem I had tonight in the rain was the car headlights, they created to much glare. Don't think I managed a decent shot all night.

I'd say don't wait until it's completely dark before you start taking pictures of the illuminations, otherwise you'll end up with either the illuminations burnt out to white, or you'll have the colours but against an almost black background.

you could always try a long exposure light trail type of shot
if you get it right i think it would look quite impressive

or you go for a very long exposure where moving objects ( cars n people ) would not be in the frame long enough to be exposed but you would probably need a ND filter to get the exposure long enough for that to happen and hope the air is still so the illuminations arn't being moved by the wind

i think i would try the first idea

head down Gynn square, as the best stuff is down that way.

and if you really head out a lot further you should be able to get a good overview of all the lights.

Not sure a long exposure will work as quite a few of the lights move about in the wind unless its dead calm which is unlike blackpool lol

the weather up here is awful so good look with your photos
