 Mmm saw these for 169 today and must say was quite tempted..anyone here use one ? if so how do you rate it?

:D Well bit the bullet and got one, very impressed for the price!

I thought that they are pointless without a compatible blackberry phone. Is that true?

And considering a BB on BIS can't do proper imap email I find them rather useless unless you like you email out of sync on various devices. Or have they finally fixed that for the "ultimate" email machine ;)

cheers dave ;). Yep there is no native email but you can go online to retrieve tbem.Tbh i only got it for browsing web, youtube, facebook etc and the odd game. for this its very good, sleek interface, better cameras than ipad with 1080p output.Size is fine once your used to it and browser is very good plus it supports flash. For 169 I cant fault it. If it was same price as ipad2 then yes i would go for the ipad but at this price its a steal! I believe there is a software update in feb that gives you instant email and access to android apps as well.

It does currently need a BB phone to access email and BBM but email will be fixed in Feb and if you use the OS 2.0 beta then you can use the Android Mail client fine.

It does many other things that don't need a Blackberry.........

yep aside from the email and calender it does pretty much everything other tablets do. For 20 quid more than an 8 gb ipod its great value.

I have a BB phone, but I'm going to wait and see if RIM survive the next 6 - 12 months before I invest any more money in their products.

Yeah I think a lot of folk are really waiting to see what the new phones look like, i have no doubt RIM will be around in 12 months

Put like that it does sound a bargain. Enjoy!

:DIt is and I am enjoying it ,cheers mate. Just put some movies on there which played fine and just converting some mkv files to try out too.
Photos look amazing even on a slightly smaller screen.Very crisp and punchy colour.

MKV files work natively using the OS 2.0 beta if it helps!

think i will see if they bring it out in feb if not then I will probably install the beta version.

My Daughter got one for christmas from her mother, Ive had a little play and liked it! I must have a proper play with it!

Where did you get yours from Stuart?

I hope so. Quite happy with BB - I don't need/want the range of apps you can get for Android phones and iPhones - but my contract is up in about 6 months and RIM are taking strain.

Mine too, I'd think that by May (if not earlier) we'll at least have seen the new phone and something tells me that some networks might see the phones sooner than Q3 2012 anyway, theres been some speculation in the States that the non 3G/LTE networks might get them earlier.

Very tempted but Im thinking my monitor is about to die and will need to replace that first! If they stay at £169 I will have one :)

Not sure if price is staying that low,I did hear it would be going up again but not sure it will.

They (Currys) have the 32GB model for £199 in stock (it was this morning).
I've had one since it was released in the US, it is a great little tablet, the screen is gorgeous but the one thing that lets it down is the lack of apps.

An android emulator was supposed to be out 4 months ago but it is now due in Feb 2012 so that should help (it will be bundled in with OS2.0).

If you are in the market for a tablet, you could do a lot worse than one of these and again, the screen is amazing and even the lack of native email client shouldn't stop you from getting one.

:( gutted I couldnt get the 32gb anywhere when I got mine but not to worry.

 Yep great for showcasing images etc especially on a big hd screen. I had a problem with the charger on mine, had to wiggle it for it to charge,so returned it for a refund and managed to source a 32gb version.Hardly any 32gbs in store though and apparently the sale price on them in currys ends today.Wether it will or not elsewhere I dont know. Still very pleased with it and cannot fault it,superb piece of kit.

:D May even tempt me to get a blackberry phone lol

Well price did go up a bit..16gb gone up to 250, the 32gb is 260 but they dropped the price of 64gb to 270!..

For those of you that have Playbooks, can you view RAW files on it or is there an App available so you can?

I'm asking as at the current prices it is very tempting to get the 64Gb version

Nick software have an app that lets you edit RAW files.
Its called snapseed.
Currently only available on iPad, its release to android is due soon.
If you run the BB play on android then you will get it that way.
