How safe is the black rapid fastnr 3 for carrying the camera when using the optech utility sling? I've read different reviews good and bad. Anybody had a mishap using one?
 
Not sure tbh, but suppose it'll depend what lens you have attached.

You could always fasten the other op-tech connector to the camera too, for peace of mind just for waliking around?
 
This is how I carry mine. So far so good. The only issue I can see is as the connector rubs against the Fastnr that it could wear out over time. So I check mine occasionally and so far it hasn't done at all.

That said thinking about it, you could say the same about the Optech connector rubbing against the camera strap mounting point.

The connectors are very sturdy.

Thanks gents. Im going to lengthen to second connector to give me the freedom of movement and backup. Ta.
 
Good find but I don't think i'd use the hook. It doesn't have screw lock on it and I ended up dropping my lens last time because I hadn't locked mine and when leaning over to reach something, the hook opened slightly and the lens worked loose. I now religiously lock the hooks using the little screw.

The screw fastener itself looks reasonably priced though.
