I'm sure I've seen this on here but my searches can't find it. I'm not inclined to pay what WEX are asking for the safety tether so wondered if anyone on here can please point me to what I need to make my own version
TIA
I did exactly that. I used the original camera strap, a couple of o-rings, and some other bits and bobs from Home Depot. I also bought some paracord and googled paracord Mad Max bracelet. The paracord was used to tie the bits and bobs together. If I have some time I'll get a photo together to show you.
That's the way to do it as you can see if it works for you for not.If you put 'black rapid safety tether' into google images, there are dozens of DIY examples.
That's exactly what I used initially, but then changed the cord for a couple of optech quick release clips which meant removal of the strap wasn't such a PITA. Have since swapped to the peak design slide so no need for a tether nowThis may give you an idea of a simple solution.

Wow that sounds like a complete hobby on its own [emoji3]I've been making wrist straps/safety tethers from paracord and 150lb/68kg oval split rings or 66lb/30kg swivel snaps (the ring/snap is the "weak link"). The cost isn't very high if you buy in bulk, but you do need some specialized tools (fids) for splicing the paracord (double locking brummel splices).
But probably the cheapest/easiest way to make a nice one would be from a length of 3/8 nylon webbing and a couple of tri-glides.
