Which border do you think suits the shot better....Black or White??

Black for me.

Thanks for posting.

Have to confess that I am also pulled more to the black border....not sure why though.....perhaps it makes the shot "pop" more

It's a capture of my good lady running a race this past weekend....Not a fantastic shot but in comparison to the "Pro Tog" shots of her online, it's far better.

She hasn't seen it yet so going to print it A3 for her as a surprise and mount in one of those "frameless" frames.

Both borders are far too big for me so neither works.

Mmm ok, I didn't think they were too large tbh but now I'm finding myself taking another look :p

Regardless of border thickness, which colour would you believe works best?

Ok guys, thanks for your imput......much appreciated.

I'm going to print both off as 10 x 15cm proofs and see which colour appeals more on paper.

I have had a play around with border thickness in PS and yes, I have to agree that a narrower one will look better.

I think it would look best with a white boarder overlaying the black. At this size a one pixel border either right at the inner edge or about a quarter of the way out over the black

Now we're getting creative :D

Might look quite cool actually....if you want to have a play/edit, then feel free...I'm open to all suggestions ;)

Maybe try a Grey border with a thin black edge??

Just to be different

A few pixels of white around the image then a suitable coloured border, more like a mount than a solid border?

:plusone: for this.
I'd have a play and post an example up, but I'm on the work laptop and haven't got any editing software on here :(

I also think black and thinner.

I printed off a couple of proofs onto paper and without doubt black looks better than white but still not sure although I do agree with the comments about the border being narrower than in my original posting.

Not sure about that Les, I can't say i've ever tried grey. It is different....I'll have another look at it after i've slept!:D

I'd like to see what others come up with as well.

I'm going to have to experiment some more I think.....all these different ideas are welcome though.

It's unlikely I'll get the print done this week now and to keep it a surprise I'll have to wait until monday to print it off ( when mrs asha is out at work!), so if you want a play in the meantime, feel free to dabble.

I know it's not a C&C thread but IMO, the shot needs to lose the bottom right corner's pink blob!

Here is another option for both...

Interesting how the left version gives an impression of "her" receeding into the image whereas in the right version, "she" appears to pop out more.

I think it was the arm/hand of another runner pasing by......clone it out I guess ??

Think you may have a tough time cloning that out....you wont be able to put the guys foot/leg back in....maybe place your logo there?

I find that with alot of photos...most people won't notice any little problems with them if they are of themselves or a loved one...they are too busy looking at the main focus of the picture and enjoying it for what it is.

Neil.

I quite like the white border here but as opposed to a solid black border around the photo I'd probably use a deep glow border instead with an angle on it. (sorry not sure what the PS technical term is off hand). I'd also lose the thin edge black edge too :)

Thanks you all for your help with this....In the end i opted to print very similar to the left option shown here with a very thin white border around the image and a broad black border on matt finish A3 paper.

It has gone down very well with the runner.....she is delighted!
