Black, grey cars, etc...

Cobra was making the assumptions,
I said *maybe* in the first comment but omitted to use it in the second, (which was in error) it was a comment not an assumption.

But of course by making the comment in the first place you assumed that people could afford to buy a "knock about" car

And that's so terrible because??

Most people actually can. If anyone can't, then they'll probably not be taking my advice. No big deal. Why you making such a fuss about it? Seems they can have cars they care enough about to moan about the scratches they're getting in car parks though, so can't be as poor as you're suggesting. LOL

I'm not making a fuss about it, you re-quoted me after I considered that line of discussion done and dusted.

A warning has been issued for this post, which has resulted a suspension
FFS.... like dealing with kids who have to have the last ****ing word.

How does such a k******d get to moderate this gaff?

I guess you missed all the politeness warnings that have been posted recently?
( just so we are clear we don't moderate threads we are involved in, it was another Mod decided you were out of order)

FFS, youre doing exactly what youre wrongly accusing a Mod of doing,
**Sorry Gary, can't let that last bit stand ;) **

I bought my Merc because it was a bargain but I will never buy a black car again, ever!

Someone needs a holiday.
Someone is now on holiday ;)
Anyhow as your were
I do seem to have ended up with quite a few red cars over the years,
and very few black ones, Although I would chose black if there were two identical cars, one was black as wasn't

Blimey...I only went to Asda...how long was I gone???

I seem to have alternated between blue and silver over the years

1993 - Allegro (blue)
1994 - Metro (red - the only exception)
1997 - Clio (blue)
2002 - Civic (silver)
2006 - Scenic (blue)
2009 - Focus (silver)
2012 - Focus (blue)

Will be choosing my next car next month so logic dictates it will be silver but, as it's likely to be an Astra, it's going to be black as I think it suits it.

I think they also look good in silver, but can't argue with your choice of black either

I've owned all sorts of coloured cars, though several have been various shades of green for some reason (Rover, Daewoo, Nissan and Audi)
Never owned a red or white car.
Reminiscing about it....one of my faves is/was still the MG Maestro.
The first car I ever bought myself.

My favourite black car was my Astra Coupe. I really did like that car, and was not impressed when I was sideswiped by a French trucker on the M20...writing it off. :rage:

The only red car I've owned was a Vauxhall Firenza (not a droopsnoot, just the slab fronted one) which was unfinished in red primer! Went like poo of a polished spade (so to speak!) Can't remember any white ones.

I had a red Lancia integrale( lowered and handled like a go kart), a red 105 Alfa Guilia Coupe (1750 twin dellortos, great noise) and another old V8 Italian sporty thing. Fast Italian cars should all be red.

I owned 2 Montegos, super reliable cars

The Firenza was a Vauxhall so English rather than Italian despite its name. Basically a Viva HC Coupé with a 2.3l slant four motor in it. On very skinny tyres, it didn't exactly set the world on fire in the handling stakes but was a hoot to drive! One of too many cars I killed, although I blame a previous owner for the shoddy mods as much as myself for failing to debodge the crappy radiator mount he'd cobbled together (which failed and dropped the bottom hose onto a pulley, resulting in almost instantaneous coolant loss and the inevitable overheating and seizure.)

My current "new" car is a 2008 Hinda Accord diesel, it is a sort of pearlescent dark blue metallic colour. Bet it is a bitch to paint match if needed.

Hinda?......WTF is a Hinda............

Google suggests
Hinda may refer to: ... Hinda Wassau (1906-1980), striptease and burlesque star;
:D

I had a silver Rolls Canardly.

It rolls down the 'ill and can 'ardly get up the other side.

I hate black with a passion, looks terrible the day after a wash, i bought this colour (ginger ale) purely because it was £1500 cheaper than a black, white, grey etc, etc, it simply doesnt show dirt at all

I really like this ford colour. I won't it on a ford transit custom.

Me too for some obscure reason! But then I did own this Celica, painted in an Alfa Romeo colour:

The previous one was grey with black wheels so fits in rather well with the thread!

This shape was so much nicer than the generation after.

Yep, so good I had 3 of them! I'm still keeping my eyes peeled for a Gen 4 GT4. Love the sheer 80s-ness of them!

I always wanted the gt4 in this shape.first gen celica is my favourite though. I love old jap sports cars. I used to have a VTEC dohc crx.

My wife just bought a black BMW Z4. The black wheels on it make it look a lot less 'hairdresserish'

I agree, most cars are on personal finance plans these days. Everyone you talk to doesn't own their car just makes monthly payments

I can't bring myself to take out one of these deals either. I can't see why you would pay for something that never belongs to you.

I view it slightly different. I would never pay outright for a car, because, why plough your hard earned cash into something that was guaranteed to lose money. The way I view it is that I can afford to save x pounds a month , so my savings stays my savings earning interest and the xx pounds a month pays for the car. If the car value drops like a stone, not my problem, my savings are still intact. But then again I am biased on these things ;)

I must have terrible taste - I've had Red, Silver, White, Black, Green (yes, sorry), Blue and Brown cars. Even a Red and White striped one!
As for the company car angle, whenever I've had one, the paint job is always extra, and adds to the P11D Value, so I avoid anything that costs extra money other than the ludicrously expensive gadgets you can throw inside - my last company car was the absolute base model but loaded with every bloody gadget you could throw at it in the inside :-)
