I've been asked by my client to smooth out right shoulder of jacket on this shot, and left side of tie knot smoothed out.

Usully I would filter/liquify to do this but with the pattern on his tie, I'm struggling to keep it looking real.

Has anyone got a suggestion/how to for this? Feel free to have a go....your workflow would be appreciated if you do.

He has also asked for a 'sun kissed complexion' on the shots. Is there a better way to do this than just adjusting the colour balance?

Thanks all! :)

Have you tried the push tool in liquify .... either push up or pull down and it alters the area slowly without distorting

wow, that looks great!

I've never used the push feature - can you give me an idea of settings to work with, or any other tips?

Much appreciated!

Typical - he turns up looking like he slept in the suit and wants you to sort it out!

To sort the tie out the elegant way is to freehand select a similar portion of the tie from below the crease where the pattern matches the bit you want to replace. Copy and paste it back into the image as a new layer, rotate it to match the slant of the edge of the knot and flatten the image. Take out the kink in the knots shadow with the clone tool.

The collar is tricky, but Simon has the right idea - I used a combiation of a similar push tool (in PSP) and the clone tool to try to smooth out the area, and darked the collar selectively to conceal it a bit better. You can also seelctively add a little noise to the area, but don't overdo the noise size. It could be better to be honest, it's a bit of a tedious job and I lost the will to live.:D

That hard shadow under his nose and chin would need more sorting out if it's an issue at all?

Thank you CT! :) LOL, tedious indeed!

(They were lit like that at the clients request...personally, I don't like it for formal headshots, but it's wha they wanted...hey ho.)

Try using a warming filter for the tan.

Just select the skin area's copy as a layer then apply the filter to taste.

I have to laugh at this though, some one is that vain that they want these changes in PP but slob enough to not bother sorting himself out properly for the shoot lol

Hi Wobbler

I used liquify, clone & patch tool for all the lumps bumps and shadows much the same as everyone else, I couldn't get the lapel right though CT done a great job on that. Also I took the colour back on the overall image using the red channel on the channel mixer, then for the tango look use a Hue Saturation adjustment layer, select reds, then using the add dropper select an area on the face and slide saturation up until you get the colour you want, then mask of any other areas that you didn't want changing, in this case his tie went too bright and he's eyes were a little red.
