You must have far to much time on your hands....do some work lol

Ps......I want one !!!!!!! And your only down the road :)

On a serious note, if you made some more simple designs, could be a market for it! You could probably get away with some thinner steel too.

Looks pretty cool! You must be really busy in work! ;-)

Yeah loads to do at the moment ;)

Send me a PM if you can pick up I can make another.

I think it needs the weight to stand up, its not that heavy :) its bigger brother will weigh a fair amount more when I get around to making it (12mm 1/2" steel & 3.5ft tall).

Very nice. For sale?

It is a possibility, I have a rough figure in mind if I was to make some more.

There is someone over here who makes very similar things in wood.

Steve.

Cool stuff Morgan, out of interest, are you cutting out the shapes with a Laser/Plasma cutter?

The bigger brother will need wheels for feet so you can move it! ;-).

i so want one - awesome!

I feel a side line being started here ;-). What are the other designs in the pipeline?

If your serious :) throw me a PM, I did sit and ponder a way of shipping them last night, if I should be able to find a box big enough then just jam it full of packing peanuts (everyone loves packing peanuts).

Triceratops, fly, spider, wasp, dragon.

That's so cool, everyone loves a t-Rex right (I have my "if you're happy and you know it" t shirt on today :D )

On a serious note though might be worth dropping the mods a note before you start selling them on here, you'll probably need to become a trader. :)

I think like a lot of people the T-rex is my favourite, he has a hard life with those small arms, never able to eat a subway or get cash out of an ATM lol or Do push ups to get buff :p.

I will find a mod and send a pm across see what they make of it.

Triceratops, stegosauras or ankylosaurus would be very cool

I like big, beefy, defensive tank dinosaurs :)

I just had to google ankylosaurus never heard of him, that is a big beast lol.

I'm assuming they could be painted too?

I can get them painted if you would like, best bet would be powder as its got the best chance of getting into all the little corners etc...

Lots of ifs coming up, but if you get the go ahead to sell them and you can provide them at a decent price, post up the options.

I'm thinking garden ornaments......is that a little old and boring sounding?

Are you able to mill something from ali/steel or whatever?

I've been looking for somebody to make me a little something, i have the cad design already.

I dont think so but I think you'd need to secure it down well, otherwise some scrote would have it away almost certainly.

I will say this, I don't make gnomes lol, that is where I was going to put mine, something nice in the garden rather then your usual gnome or hedghog etc...

as its more of a custom piece, I don't want to turn this into a shop I can list so many options as I do at work anyway, you can have it painted wet or powder, nickel plated, acid etched, chromed, galvanised, zinc plated, phosphate coated etc....

Or just let it go rusty :).

£120 for a large T-rex 750mm*435mm in size as pictured.
Postage at a guess £20??

We can yes, I'll pm you my work email.

That does look impressive! I'm also surprised that you can get a laser strong enough to cut through metal. The future is here.

That is pure talent. :)

Thank you kind sir :)

it can cut through 25mm thick Steel as if it was butter :), saw the other day the US military shoot down a drone with a laser, the terminator is coming.

The future has been here a while. We've had a laser cutter at work for at least 10yrs, it's out of date and hard to get spares for to repair.
What I find really impressive is cutting metal with water.

The waterjet company we use they can cut upto 250mm thick steel, ali, stainless, its impressive but not as clean or accurate as laser but its getting better.

I think I've got the plywood version of this somewhere! Could be interested in the steel one in kit form, along with others. Look forward to the posts in the classifieds! Personally, I would like the things supplied as kits/puzzles like the little wood ones - easier to package too!

You got your own MIG welding machine Nod?
Or were you just thinking of using Evostick/UHU/Superglue/Araldite?

Looking at Morgan's pics, I can't see any welds.

I don't (yet!) have a MIG welder but do have an old arc welder (and know how to use it, although I'm not certificated) so it could (if necessary) be stuck together.

TBH, my problem would be more with space! Our already not massive back garden has been eaten into by the conservatory and a herd/menagerie of steel dino skeletons could get a bit crowded! Thinking about it though, just a couple of the bigger ones, welded up would be a bitch for people to lift from the front garden - double the linear dimensions and the mass increases by a factor of 8 (if the material thickness is doubled) and even if the thickness is kept at 6mm, the mass will be quadrupled. Then again, if the current mass is only 6kg, a big'un would "only" be 24kg, an easyish lift (unless welded to a ground anchor!)

Why would you need a certificate?

He is indeed welded together but just with small 3-4mm stitches, hidden out of sight most are on the back of the joints or underside so you can't see them, if you don't weld it then the 2 halfs fall apart at the middle it does stay together but a slight knock and it topples over, where as welded its solid, it could be welded to a base plate to increase the stability.

as you mention the bigger they get the more weight but there isn't alot of material mass as all the parts are quite thin there was probably 4or5 times the weight in scrap from all the cut outs.

Oh yes, can't wait to see your next project..you have wet the appetites of a few people here, I fancy the idea of kit form (but I have a welder), you mentioned a price in your mind...try sharing it, get feed back see what poeple think. You will then know if its worth your while.

I fancy a big wasp for my rockery lol...Good Luck

Upkeep might be a tad expensive however.

This is what I would need to sell them at the moment but obviously if I get more people interested I can look at reducing costs due to higher quantity's.

If you want to weld that's fine small tack on the back is all it needs or glue the pieces together they are rather snug I think you could get away with a decent quality epoxy glue.

Kit form would be £80 + Postage
Postage as a kit though would be easier its way smaller in a pile on the desk lol :P.

So feedback :)

Yes please! As a kit would be my choice, ideally with some instructions... I would almost certainly try the epoxy method before digging out the welder but could weld it if necessary. Hell, IIRC (from the wood ones) there are only a couple of joins that aren't gravity assisted anyway (not that I'd take the risk of it collapsing!)

Let me know if/when you decide to produce them and I'll pop a cheque in the post to you.

Morgan, this is great, ever consider setting something up online to sell them?

If you get them tig welded there is no weld to see as such.

That's the way I do mine :)
