Bit of an odd one

Does anyone know how much a length of 6mm steel plate would cost its 3m long and about 3" depth, the reason I ask is my garage was targetted by the local thieving scumbags last night, but luckily for me they didnt get in but where they tried to jemmy it open is now vunerable so to protect it I need the steel strip so prevent them getting a jemmy bar under it

Shouldn't be too expensive - unless you buy from a diy place.

Steel stockholders might not deal with you for such a small quantity - might be worth ringing a couple from yellow pages though.

Otherwise try local small engineering firms/blacksmiths.

We bought a load of steel rod and box section last year and I was surprised how cheap it was - but it was direct from the stockholders.

chip up to an engineering firm they will probs sell it cheap also will probably drill it for you

also you can get string pull shotgun cartridge firers, could put a blank in it or a smoke cartridge and tie the string to the door, will freak them out

I assume it's an up and over door. If so, get a couple of these babies and drill them into the garage floor at either side of the door.
