Just think how much better your'll feel when its out though![]()
My birthday today, but not a happy day. Tomorrow I go into hospital to have a kidney stone that is lodged in my bladder removed. Not looking forward to it at all.
I vaguely recall, many many many moons ago, there was an item on the BBC series "Tomorrow's World" that surgery to remove kidney stones would soon be a thing of the past. Instead they would be blasted with ultrasound to pulverise item and thereby allow them to be passed harmlessly.
Perhaps that little project went the same way as some of the other fantasies in that series.
No, not at all. That is still an option but in my case the Consultant will decide which option to go for. My heart medication buggers things up a bit tho because I bleed for hours if I'm cut and both surgery and ultrasound cause bleeding and from the colour of my urine the last time I had an attack, the movement of the stones causes it as well. Happy days. Growing old(er) is a b@stard, thank Christ I've never grown up![]()
Perfectwe will get you a breakfast and then you can go home".
Update on Kidney stone,
As instructed arrived at the urology Centre at Nottm. City Hospital ta 7.30 am. Went through all the paperwork checks, saw one of the doc's and the anaesthetist, got gowned up and sat outside the operating theatre, one of the surgeons came talking to me and said was I having any pain so I said no not since the stone passed into my bladder. He said "I think we will do another xray, so off I went to xray. Just got back and the lady surgeon calls over to me to go and speak with her. She said" I have good news for you, we cannot find any stone in your bladder, so you must have passed it or it has dissolved". Well I think I would have known if I had passed a 7mm stone so it must have dissolved, did not know that they would dissolve.
Her next words were music to the ears " we will get you a breakfast and then you can go home".
So with great joy off I went.

That'll be like giving birth through the dishonourable member!
Jammy b****rI fear I'm not gonna be quite so lucky. My biggest one is 10mm another at 5mm and a handful of smaller ones. Bummer!!!!
Yup, hence I think I likely get a general anesthetic for the op. Depends on the consultant of course.
