26th March, My Birthday :D 17!

Sooo hopefully (little more convincing the parents needed) ill be getting a D-SLR as all i have atm is a little compact camera

Just wondered if anyone could advise me which one to get as there seems to be so many!
Budget id say is £500-£600

Thanks

I say I'll be getting something for my bday a little before you :P
25th March :)

But I would suggest something like a Canon 400D/450D if you fancy the Canon side of things.

But no-one can tell you what YOU want, go in somewhere like Jessops and have a feel for all the different brands and which u feel more comfortable holding, etc.

Canon 450d iv had my eye on that :) but mostly because that is the only one iv really seen and had a play with thanks for the advice ill have to go take a look at some more.

Any more suggestions Welcome :D

450D.

sony alpha 300! awesome piece of kit.

Yes looked at that on Jessops website whats the real differences between the two ?

This is what i can find...
.Alpha 300 is noticebly cheaper
but
450d
.slightly more Mpx

so save some money or get the best out of my budget ?

You'll only regret not getting the 450D if you don't!

If you think the 450D is too expensive go for the 1000D or the 400D. In every review I've seen Sony are still struggling to equal the image quality of Canon and Nikon. (I have no references for that I can link you to, so I advise you Google around for comparisons.)

remember its not all about mpx. i was in the same position getting either camera but i got the sony because its different and sony are new to SLR so they could do with me lol, i do not regret not getting the 450d and the live view is awesome on the a300

you must go to your local camera shop and try out the different manufacturer's offerings. a bargain not a bargain if you don't like what you've bought.

You could probably even get a Nikon D80 in that price range which means you'll have the access of auto focusing in the body.
