The soap opera continues

IMHO, this annual event gets more and more like a TV awards ceremony as a significant highlighted minority are just a sad reflection of what is considered important today with the required ego boost that these celebs constantly need.

As each year goes by are most of the awards given deserved or appropriate and as such is it at all relevant today?

over a 1,000 people in the list

............
over a 1,000 people in the list

And by far the vast majority are people you've never heard of, being awarded honours for their work/charity/community endeavours, who don't need and probably would shy away from publicity
.
I've no problem with it

That's what I indicated it you read my posting

you always seem to have a problem understanding postings or even the point of a statement - I never said as you put it I 'by far the vast majority are people you've never heard of, being awarded honours for their work/charity/community endeavours, who don't need and probably would shy away from publicity" ..... do not deserve to be recognised ...................... indeed by highlighting the "celebs" that are being recognised and promoted publically I am indeed bringing attention to those who are not and deserve the awards

Can you read, or more importantly understand?

"I've no problem with it" as you say ......... does that mean you are happy with all the awards given and the prominence given to certain individuals by the media

Jesus Bill...take a pill.

I have no problem with it means just that....I don't care about celebrities being awarded and of course the media will give prominence to the reporting of that.

Those individuals who are awarded through their everyday works will, I'm sure, sleep soundly at night without you expressing your indignance on their behalf, and will simply be proud to have their efforts recognised by those that matter.

If my posts vex you so much....there's a button for that.

ROFLMAO We've got another drama queen :) Blimey @BillN_33 got out of bed the wrong side this morning?

I do love the hypocrisy about this, what that arse of a GMB bloke called, Sir Paul Kenny ;) Always so called fighting against the establishment, getting very rich and well remunerated (over six figures) on the back of union members...And now it is Sir Paul....Ed nominated his little union mate...I'm sure the £7M in donations had nothing at all to do with it.

I've got no problem with these kind of awards, I just wished that those that are so against it would then not accept it and be true to their word. Practise what you preach and I'll have some respect for it...

Paul Kenny's salary was £81,000 plus benefits in 2009, rose to £127,000 in 2013 a good bit of which I paid as a GMB member. If he thinks it's ok to take a lordship I want my money back!

These honours for the most part are well deserved but the crony system in use where Milliband can get his financial supporters knighted makes my blood boil.

And I bet that during that period you were subjected to a pay freeze.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't my political belief anyway, however I have a lot of respect for people who stand for what they belief. Sir and Lady Kenny that is just hilarious.

apologises - mid morning rant ...............it is just that some of the awards really depress me (about who is recommending and approving them) and they get worst every year, IMHO ...... rant over

It does make you want to vomit, however it makes me feel even worse if I cast my mind back and realise scumbags like Jimmy Saville,Cyril Smith,Rolf Harris and quite a few other w****rs have been on the honours list. ( although it bothers me not as to who nominated them).

You say that, it does make me now wonder who did nominate them. And for what. Always follow the money trail.
