Birmingham cars could be banned from driving through city centre

No I was confirming your extreme bias. What I also confirmed is what are the most popular car models people buy.
I'll make it easy for you. The UK's top selling car for 10 consecutive years is the Fiesta. The base models are the Style and Trend, the most popular models sold are Zetec S, ST- Line, ST and Titanium. If I told you to go out a spot 10 of the more popular models, I reckon it would take you less than 1hr. If I told you to go out and spot just one Trend or Style variant and stay out until you find one, i would advise you to take some money, food, a sleeping bag, a phone to keep in touch with family, if you work, book all of this years holiday, possibly next years too if to add on top if they will let you, even be prepared to resign unless they don't mind you taking a year or so out, make sure you have some family photos too, because believe me, you will have forgotten what they looked like before you are able to return home.
You need to think a bit more too. See you in ten years on the thread?

Why would it be a bad thing?
The car industry overall is probably the biggest employer in the UK and lots of other countries too. It includes manufacturing, sales, servicing, repairs, testing, development, insurance, finance etc. etc.
You, more thinking needed. Try to see through your bias.

You may have found a Fiesta Trend or Style by then.

Yet more confirmation of your bias. You should start thinking and try fighting back against the nodding dog urges.

(Sorry about bringing up an aftermarket accessory there)

What has bias got to do with it. You are obviously way out of your depth on a subject you know sweet fa about and so you just post inane drivel.

Nope - it's definitely the other way round - people who have no interest in cars don't see the pleasure others get from ownership. Car dealerships will often only stock one base model so they can advertise a price as 'starting from £xxxx'; this 'lures people in' with the cheap option but they will invariable add to the trim level.

When was the last time you got into a car with no onboard entertainment, no headrests, steel wheels etc (although I do wonder if you have anything to do with those sinful objects?) over the years the manufacturers have continued to expand the options range.

Further to this when they 'extend' the model life of a car they produce higher spec models with upgraded trim to assist sales - maybe you should tell them they've got it all wrong?

Then look at TV programmes like Top Gear - massive viewing figures on prime time TV - all because people are interested in going from A-B?

Are cars getting slower over the years? Of course they aren't - manufacturers know improved performance sells cars - 'Race cars on a Sunday sell them on the Monday' is a very old addage and why manufacturers spend billions on racing.

Apart from the odd Prius driver most can name an F1 star and a leading F1 manufacturer.

Probably as accurate as your assertion that "the developed world refuses to assist in mining [Fossil] fuels" in Africa...
IE, not at all....

LOOK!!!! IT’S GOT SHINY WHEEL NUTS!!!!!!

You are taking your small, knowledgable, view of some of the subject and making the classic error of thinking that you know it all.

Think wider, beyond your bias. Much wider.

I think you are a troll, hows that for you?
How about you enlighten us all on the wider picture that I am so obviously missing.
The only narrow minded view come to light so far is your own.

You need to think a bit more too. See you in ten years on the thread?

Already discussed early and you came up with s ridiculous reply to all the predictions I quoted that were wrong (post# 105) so no point going over old ground again.

Are you Greta Thunberg's dad by any chance?

Think you need to take one of your 'cold showers' buddy!

I see the nilagin/DK602 Tag Team has responded as expected.

Come on guys, think beyond your existing horizons, go on, try it.

If thinking beyond my own horizons (Whatever that riddle may mean) makes me as negative and as doom ridden as yourself then I'd rather not bother :(

It's rather pleasant not to suffer from socialist brainwashing TBH.

More drivel as you still have nothing of worth to say.

Watching two performance car enthusiasts gurn away when they are asked to think a bit wider shows just how entrenched their views are.

When accusations of trolling and similar are thrown about, it is obvious that they really have been challenged.

The world is being horribly damaged because of human activity. (This is a given, contrary to the loony conspiracy theory stuff that can be found on the internet). Private transport is a significant contributor to that damage. Something is being done about it.

Welcome to the new world: it brings a bit of hope but gets performance car enthusiasts and similar gurning and frothing.

Seems like you should really broaden your horizons and do some research.
http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/co2-emissions-by-country/
The UK alone has approximately 10 million more cars on the road than China, yet the UK's CO2 emissions are way below that of China.
America has more than 10 times as many cars as China, yet China's Carbon emissions are more than double of America's, intact you could add the number of cars in America and the UK to give a figure approaching 13 times those in China and American and UK carbon emissions combined is still half of China's carbon emissions.

Then if we take pollution as a whole, neither the UK or America fall into the top 10 worst countries, and if you look at those 10 countries, none of them are renowned for personal car ownership or use.

Sorry, more predictable, narrow-minded, privileged Westerner stuff from you.

Like you keep saying, comeback in 10yrs, because it is going to take you that long to even think of something worthwhile to say, instead of all the pointless ramblings.

You fall perfectly into this category that I posted earlier:

There will be a disproportionately influential group of doomsters predicting that the future–and the present–never looked so bleak.” In other words, the hype, hysteria and spectacularly wrong apocalyptic predictions will continue, promoted by the virtue signalling “environmental grievance hustlers” like AOC.

I see the Tag Team is liking itself. Well done guys! (y)

I like the idea of banning cars from city/town centres; it makes my hobby of sitting drinking coffee & people watching far more interesting and much more pleasant for me to walk around.

I get no enjoyment out of driving a car in a city centre.

Generally I try to avoid a car for A-B journeys.

They wouldn't be able to ban cars on our town centre, it would put two petrol garages and a car dealership/garage out of business. They are just about the only businesses left in our town that aren't a coffee shop, a takeaway or charity shop.

I enjoy driving no matter where I am, it doesn't matter if it's a B road, country lane, motorway, even in London, whenever I go to gigs in London with my sons, I always drive. Plus it's great fun, terrorising Uber and black cab drivers. ;)

History is littered with industries and businesses that have had their time.

This is what is so comical about the tree hugging brigade!

Maybe, just maybe rather than posting on a social internet forum at all times of the day purely for pleasure you maybe want to look beyond your own horizons and realise how this increases your own carbon footprint?

Further to this to improve matters for everyone; why do you have these 'luxury items' like computers and cameras that have been produced by a manufacturer increasing your carbon footprint still further!

Why DO YOU need luxury items when you are stating we need to take cold showers?

You are just the same as someone who thinks they are religious because they go to church on a Sunday.

Such a hypocrite - take everyone else's hobbies from them as long as I'm not interested in them but I'll continue as I want............mmmmmmmmmm

A big difference between going out of business by natural progression and being forced out of business. May as well close a couple of undertakers, the local church and crematorium as well as hearse would have to be banned too.

“Natural Progression”

Could you explain what you mean by that?

My my.

Maybe in the morning you’ll read what you have just posted here. You may even be able to explain it, which would be nice.

In the meantime, please feel free to carry on “posting on a social internet forum at all times of the day purely for pleasure”.

I'm not the one trying to save the planet from a catastrophe that thinks it will happen in ten years - that's you and as usual when the truth faces you you can't give an answer :)

Surely you realise the production of luxury goods produces a carbon footprint as does the use of them?

Have a little think about it, see if you can work it out.

Garages closing because of changing demand patterns, that’s natural progression.

Comical whataboutery....

Particular like the line "...posting on a social internet forum at all times of the day purely for pleasure....".
Checks time of post - 1257 AM
Checks location of post - a social media photography forum
Checks hypocrisy - unambiguously present

It seems that you are the one that may need to wipe your keyboard once you finished your post...! But hey, who am i do argue that you should not have such pleasures in your life.

Is this the carbon footprint of China, the one that the Chinese should sort out?

Come on Phil - keep up; it's @Pound Coin who thinks we are doomed within 10 years - not me!

(The post refers to HIS habits)

Exactly, see you can make sensible posts if you really try.
So garages closing because of changes of usage patterns is natural progression. That’s good that you accept that.

Pass the blame again - how hypocritical!
You are missing the point. You need to look up thread where a point was made about carbon footprints.

I've asked that the Tag Team returns to the thread in ten years. You’ve made up the bit above, because it suits your polemic.

The Tag Team seem to be unwilling to commit to returning in ten years. Can’t see why...

Being forced out of business because the ability for their customers to gain access to their business is not natural progression though and because your views are so narrow minded, you can't accept that.

So do tell us what you feel will be different in 10yrs time. You keep wanting to return to the thread in 10yrs, but to what end? Stop your silly obtuse remarks and actually make a statement.
I would like to think I would still be a member of this forum in 10yrs time, but I can't commit to it let alone being committed to return to a thread on a forum which may not even exist in 10yrs time. I may not even exist in 10yrs time.
