Birding near Exeter

Dawlish Warren is quite good for various waders, Gulls of all sorts and the odd peregrine on the hunt.

Elm Grove rd in Topsham has a couple of platforms/bird hides to the east of the road overlooking the mudflats.

Also you can park off of Bridge rd on Exeter bypass, turn left just before the swingbridge coming from Exeter, where it says SWW, then park on the right by the boat huts? There is then a footpath that goes both sides of the SWW works, past a DWT reserve and continues between the canal and river.
Water fowl, cormorants, little egrets etc.

Mill on the Exe Pub on Bonhay rd normally has gulls, cormorants and ducks on rocks, occasionally herons, little egrets and sand pipers.

The church in Haldon rd has peregrines (I've not seen them nesting for the last 2 years though).

Kingfishers are found on all the little streams in/around Exeter, Alphin Brook, river Clyst near Sandygate, the stream beside Ludwell lane. I've seen them on the Exe as well but they have too good a field of view to get close to.

Even the flood channels around the quay/Haven rd area can be good in winter.

Just got back from Devon.

The River Otter at Otterton has kingfishers. The notices at Otterton Mill (good cafe) suggest you will see them upstream of the mill. So up we went and didn't see any. Continued our walk downstream of the mill and was told by another walker that there was a kingfisher on a post on the opposite bank. Despite being perched there for 10 mins I couldn't get a clear shot. Needed a better focal length and was struggling with focus.

Worth a vist.

Is the reserve still at the end of Dawlish Warren?
