A tip I was told about is get a little bit of polythene or a kids old plastic sand pit put some soil and water make some mud for house martins swallows swifts and the like

Sounds like a good plan. Although I've never seen any swallows or swifts in the back garden, I suppose other birds would make use of it?

We've got a very sandy flower bed under out seed feeders we get about 20 birds at a time queuing up to bathe themselves.

You'll get some brilliant shots if you wait long enough and you live in the right area
