I'm looking for nature/bird reserves with decent hides for taking photos of woodland birds, within a couple of hours drive of Nottingham.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

you can get to blacktoft sands in 1.5 hrs
theres ogston res,carsington res,and attenborough

Thanks for the replies.
I've never heard of blacktoft sands but after reading about it it sounds good so I'll definitely go there. I'm a regular visitor to Attenborough but there's only a couple of hides there.

I went to Brandon Marsh yesterday for the first time, I thought it was good but I was a bit disappointed that there were no woodland based hides because there were a lot of woodland birds around but it made it much harder to get photos.

Pennington Flash, Martin Mere and Fairburn Ings are also ones I'm going to try

Potteric Carr at Doncaster (junction 3 on the M18) is probably less than an hours drive.

I went there today, nice place but I didn't think much to it from a photography point of view. I'll make another visit at some point.
I went on to Blacktoft Sands which I enjoyed but I could have done with some extra length :(
