Well after chasing noncompliant butterflies around the garden with my macro lens this morning. I decided to give up & do a bit of gardening.
Came strolling out with the loppers to be greeted by the sight of this bird of prey having lunch on the lawn. Dashed back & grabbed the compact, & managed to snap this before it flew off. I knew the pic was going to be crap but I just wanted to know what it is.
Anyone?

Male of the species with what looks like a juvenile Starling ... and exceedingly well caught ... :thumbs:

I missed the same shot yesterday of a female on my lawn ... flew off BEFORE I got to the camera ... :(

Yup , male sparrowhawk , stunning birds :)

Was fortunate to have a female sparrowhawk in my garden a few months back that didn't mind me watching from 15ft away while it ate a dove .

I did take one or two photos ;)
 
Yep very stunning birds, i got some pictures of one devouring a collared dove in my ex's back garden a couple years ago, was taken with video camera so very poor quality !

Im having some issues with Birds of Prey myself at the moment and trying to find a 600mm plus lens to get decent pics of them ! lol
