Yes
I'm trying to find some bird hides in either Northamptonshire, Warwickshire or Worcestershire where I can take my camera to practice taking photos of birds. If anyone could recommend any hides suitable for bird photography (I only have a 55-300mm lens) it would be much appreciated.

Just one thread on the same subject thanks.
I've deleted the rest.

Sorry. I looked how to delete them but couldn't find it anywhere.

Its a "staff" tool :)
If you make a mistake just RTM it with a brief explanation,
and we'll take it from there

Where in Northants are you? 300mm limit will be quite frustrating tbh.

I just visit various family there so I can go anywhere really. I was hoping to photograph birds from a hide so that I can practise but 300mm is my limit.

Last year I went to Fineshade woods a good few times, between Corby and Stamford, where you can get some practice and learn to appreciate some of the advice other threads will offer. It's mainly tits of the blue, great, coal and marsh variety, chaffinch, as well as the odd jay, woodpecker and sparrowhawk ... and obviously you'll see red kites in the surrounding villages.

There's a few of my efforts HERE

All taken with 70-300mm and cropped ... no where near the standard of many posters, but gives an idea of what you can get with your lens

There's a few hides at Summer Leys nature reserve. I think three are looking out over the water, but one is for small birds and is great if you don't mind shooting them on feeders. This link should give you an idea where it is (the green arrow :) ).

Wow....if I could get photos anything like yours I'd be delighted! I'll look the place up. Thanks a lot.

Thanks Andy. Looks like Summer Leyes is not too far from my mother-in-law so I could easily get there. It's birds on feeders I quite like to photograph. Many thanks.

I've been a couple of times and there's always loads of finch's and tits down there. Best bit is, they are so used to it the nearest feeder is only a couple of yards away.

Brilliant Andy, that's just what I need. I've set feeders up in my garden but the birds are too nervous to stay long enough for me to photograph.

Oh thanks Sue. I've been to Hillers but only for lunch! I'll take my camera next time. Great.

Thank you Mike. These are just the sort of places I've been looking for.

Do, it is a great little hide with loads of birds and deer. You can only stay in an hour at a time, but I just go and have a warming cup of tea and bun in the cafe then go back to the hide. It is very civilised!

Just to demonstrate what you get there and at what close quarters - these were taken with a 100-400, but I took a friend there with a 70-200 before Christmas and even she got some cracking shots:
