I've got two on my bookshelf, both of which I would recommend:

The Bang-Bang Club: Snapshots from a Hidden War by Greg Marinovich and Joao Silva. This looks at a loose group of four or so photographers covering the last years of apartheid in South Africa.
Unreasonable Behaviour: An Autobiography by Don McCullin. Don tells his story from growing up in London through his days as an acclaimed photojournalist.

Another one that was met with positive coverage when it was published last year but which I've yet to read is It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War by Lynsey Addario.

Any suggestions/recommendations for other ones we should check out? Any by non-war photographers?

Found another looking at a war photojournalist: Here I am: The Story of Tim Hetherington, War Photographer by Alan Huffman. Having seen on the documentary about his life and death, I've added this on to my list.

Nobody got any they want to comment on?

Came across another one when I was browsing in Waterstone ; The Darkroom Boy by Roger Allen, about his 40 years working for fleet street. Seems to have positive feedback on goodreads.

Hi Paul! I'd very much like to read the Don McCullin one:)! The 'Sunday Times' mag (not my choice of newspaper) did a good article on him recently.

I tend not to read books anymore....watched The Bang Bang Club movie and enjoyed it. Kevin Carter part was somewhat distressing.

Cheers.

One I forgot to mention is The Shark and The Albatross by John Aitchison. Strictly speaking it's film making rather than photography, but it should be of interest to anyone who is in to wildlife - each chapter is dedicated to a different period pent trying to record a particular nature event.
