Hi guys, hope this is the right section for this?

I would like to buy my father some binoculars for christmas.

he has started to become a bit of a twitcher now he has retired and has set up birt feeders in the garden.

problem is i know nothing about binoculars! i would like to get him a half decent set of fairly compact ones. not tiny but happily pocketable.
i have a top budget of about £50. anyone know anything on the subjest or have any :shrug:suggestions?

anyone?

I have 5 sets of binoculars, don't ask, 7x35, 10x25 roof prism, 10x50 bressers, 12x50 celestron and 15x70 celestron. The 15x70's are great for astronomy, but too heavy for long usage without a mount of some sort. However, the 10x50 bressers (I think they are made by Meade) are lightweight, clear, and provide bright views. You can get them for £25 from here. I've not done any form of comparative analysis between the bressers and more expensive equipment, as I don't have access, but I like them and find them easy to use. I'm also not an expert on Bino's by any stretch of the imagination.

Thanks John
