I believe in the past the Americans have stormed the wrong house and even bombed the wrong country so with their record is hitting the right man in the right country a first for them?

:lol::lol:

Wonder if Elton John will write an OBL memorial song "Sandals in the bin".

I thought the whole point of 'our boys & girls' involvement was to improve the world, not bring everyone else down to a lower level. :shake:

Edit to add: I don't care who it is, I will never even privately rejoice in another human's death, let alone publicly.

I spent 25 years serving this country & am happy to say I did it with pride, you are entitled to your opinion as am I. However, people like him & all other misguided fools deserve to rot in hell.

There will always be bullies in this world & I for one am happy to say I helped stand up to the bullies.
The IRA, Bosnian conflict, Sadam etc.
I’ve seen & heard first hand, what some of these so called “humans” did to their own countrymen, so in my opinion they are not worthy of the term “human”.
We often call bad people animals, strange really as they kill almost exclusively for food, unlike some misguided idiots who kill because they are either too stupid to form their own opinion, or they simply enjoy it!

Mick

When they caught saddam they paraded him.
When they killed his sons they paraded them
When they killed Zarkawi they paraded him
When they killed Bin Laden they religiously threw his body into sea with no witnesses, video or pictoral evidence other than their word???

Well said mate

I'm fed up of all the do gooders in this country who havnt got the first idea what talking about. I havnt got the experience you've had (only 9 yrs) but I'm proud of what I do and so is my family!!

At least the Americans actually appreciate their armed forces and don't look upon them as second class citizens like people in my home country do. Does the Islamic protest in Luton ring any bells?

I wonder how many times this joke or variations of it will appear in this thread. So far it's 3, so I'm going to guess at 11.

I feel quality over quantity makes my effort stand out :P

sorry folks, I did search for it before posting honest.

Sorry but you are completely misinformed. According to Islamic teachings, the highest honor to be bestowed on the dead is giving the deceased a swift burial, preferably before sunset. Those who die while traveling at sea can have their bodies committed to the bottom of the ocean if they are far off the coast, according to Islamic tradition.

http://www.mail.com/int/news/world/387202-islamic-scholars-question-bin-ladens-sea-burial.html

They have not actually given him an islamic burial. In fact they did the opposite. This i think was a big mistake as it will just fuel the consipiracy theorists with more ammo :)

I stand corrected

Does this mean he's now a has bin:exit:

He's done a lot of bad things in the name of religion and he's now a holy man... Well, there's now another two holy's in his head

The world's a better place for this man being dead, but seeing celebrations of anyone dead is a touch... macabre at best.

I watched the whitehouse presser a couple of hours ago...couple of updates...

He could never stand trial due to the security fears from both sides (those trying to free and those trying to kill) He is dead, but nothing has changed. The media playing up the reprise attacks as a reason why troops will still be out there for years to come.

The US special forces were prepared to capture him alive if that was an option, however they weren't expecting that scenario to play out. As it was, there was a firefight, and at one point bin laden was holding a weapon. The press guy said he 'wasn't sure if bin laden had a chance to fire'.

funny how the US dont appear to have taken any photos etc to prove it was him before dumping him in the ocean..
There will be photos. Whitehouse is deciding what and if to publish anything, never denied that there were photos.

Whitehouse also alluded that they had been 'live monitoring' the situation remotely, but denied to say by what means, even when pressed. Implication was that they had very good monitoring, ie live video.

Please don't misinterpret what I said to be a criticism of our armed forces, it wasn't meant that way at all. You've done something I could never do and for that you deserve a world of respect. I meant that to see people celebrate his death the way they've celebrated ours is to make us no better than them, and that's not what we're supposed to stand for or what our involvement is meant to have achieved. I hope that's a little clearer :)

Best wishes,

Jamie

I too have some similarities in my background however it IMHO is wise to remember that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.
The battle to be won is that for the hearts and minds of the people

i just looked for the location on google earth and it linked to this review site.... some funny stuff on here

Quite a touch of hunility is required

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
--Martin Luther King, Jr.

I'm sorry but as people have said too many strange choices were taken here. Unless I'm mistaken has he not posted any videos for ages.
Then they find him through a courier what was he ordering from ebay.

What better propaganda could you ask for showing a dead body of the worlds Most wanted man.

Things just don't add up. I really hope he is dead and it was painful. People may class that as sick and twisted but I don't care.its my opinion and I'm allowed it.
Also I don't think Jfk was shot by lee Harvey oswald and the moon landings were faked.

I dont think they are talking about your normal "Citylink" type courier. They are talking about someone that delivers secret messages from and to him. :-)

Imagine the amount of usefull information they would have extracted from him had they kept him alive.

I think they should have captured him but not tell anyone about it and use him to get all sorts of information like people who are funding him, future attack plans etc :(

Apperently they have taken a number of DNA samples for return to the USA. The burial at sea was to make sure there was no single point on earth that people could go to worship.

No, it wasn't. It's because he was buried in accordance with Islamic beliefs; within 24 hours. No country would take him so it had to be the sea.

What? ....... like a pigeon.... ?

This whole thing smells more than a smelly thing in a very smelly place! ..... I for one would love to see the proof.......... can't see it coming though...

What makes you think they didn't ;)

Last thing they are going to do is tell the world they have him alive, every US citizen abroad would be a target for kidnap, to be used as a ransom against exchange for his release.

Far easier to say he is dead, and buried at sea.

you know the rules of this place are we all not breaking them all?? and no this is't the first time i have thought this. but again i amy be wrong.. poltics and all that stuff?

He was shot twice in the head by a Special Forces soldier.

Maybe the reason the officials haven't released the images yet is because he doesn't have a head left to photograph.

Well, if he isn't dead, I'm sure al jazeera will have a photo of him tomorrow. holding a paper with news of his death on it?

I didn't wish to infer that he wasn't dead, rather that he probably has been for some considerable time, however up until now there has been no political gain to be made (and in the case of the previous U.S. administration many billions of dollars to be lost in revenue for Halliburton) if the news of his demise was made public...

The whole episode strikes me as a "Thatcher's Falklands" attempt at boosting Obama's approval rating in time for the next election.

Absolutely fantastic job by the yanks on this - give them the credit due them. Daring operations like this are notorious for going wrong, but they took the gamble on this and it's paid off.

As for the idea that they said "I know - let's just tell everyone we whacked Bin Laden - there's an election coming up." How long do you think it would have been before OBL issued one of his notorious home movies giving the lie to that?

Rest assured you'll see loads of photographic proof over the next few days and weeks in answer to all the conspiracy theorists. :D

My thoughts too.....

I don't really care.

If he is dead, then he can't command and fund his organision.

If he has been captured by the Americans, then he can't command and fund his organision.

He was always going down fighting, so the result he was shot is no surprise.

And with regards the Sadaam comments above - Sadaam was a dictator who ruled behind fear and violence towards others. When he couldn't he hid in a hole like a coward.

Osama was an extremist who used religion to control others to fulfill his desires. When he couldn't he used a woman (possibly his own wife) as a human shieldto continue fighting.

2 completely different mindsets and he was never going to allow himself to be captured and possibly face the fact that someone might torture him and he would have to suffer.

I hope your not trying to suggest that the US President was trying to knock our Wills and Kate off some of the worlds front pages after being shown how to organise a real wedding are you?

Bin Laden spent most of his adult life creating a decentralised terrorist organisation. I don't think it'll make all that much difference that he's no longer around.

Perish the thought, although going by previous form, if one of the American's "Special" Forces had been driving the bridal car he'd have missed Westminster Abbey and dropped Ms Middleton off at Glasgow Cathedral, before running her over whilst attempting a three point turn.....

Terrorists...what a joke. They all claim to be fighting for a cause but inevitably they all boil down to the same thing: drug dealers or common thugs.

Religion always seems to be involved and it's a tough enemy to beat, especially when there are fanatics involved. The problem is that these fruitcakes don't realise that religious wars are no longer fashionable anymore. The new fashion is oil ;)
