Bikers wedding on the weekend

Hey Guys,

Got a wedding to do on the weekend, its my mates wedding, looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time.

The bride is being escorted to the registry office by a fleet of bikes, then off to the local park for photos.

I've never done a wedding before so am rather nervous. I've got all my kit ready, borrowed a spare body just in case, I've got spare lenses so thats ok. They've always loved my photos so hopefully I can do them proud.

So,
Kit ready - Check
Spare lens - Check
Spare Body - Check
Discussion of required pics and an itinery - Check

The plan is to get to their place at 8am, take pics of them all getting ready, the bikes arriving, the escort, the ceremony, the park and then candids all night.

I print canvases too so got that aspect covered as well.

Any tips gratefully recieved :)

spare flash ,,,on the checklist;)

Flash is a canon 550ex, no spare though which bothers me.

Tuned up my motorbike to escape from annoyed bikers when they see the pics - Check ;)
 
As others have said flash does seem to be an omission off your list.
Hopefully the weather will be better than last weekend but do you have a backup plan if the weather turns foul.
Putting the B&G under brollies and getting drenched yourself is OK in light rain but I came out of the church last Saturday with the b&g to be greeted with a torrential downpour. It was impossible to shoot outdoors and so plan B rolled seemlessly into place..... ish.....:D

Get there a day early and have a look at the area/church/park , have a few shots planned beforehand, it helps a lot on the day.
 
I know the areas very well as I've grown up around them and lived around them for most of my life, I do intend to go for a walkabout tomorrow though to plan things.

Most of the group photos are going to done with everyone standing infront of a curve of bikes, I intend to tripod these shots.
The awkward shot they want is of them standing on a bridge that goes infront of a long cascading waterfall. I'm trying to work out where I am going to go to take the shot!

As for a plan B if the weather is bad....... I currently dont have one, I did discuss this yesterday with the B&G, their plan is if the weather is bad they will just go straight to the reception. The problem with that is there is nowhere nice to take wedding shots at the reception as its a workmens style club on the outskirts of town.
 
I've only done a couple of weddings, generally when I've been bullied into it by 'mates'

I did find a cable release handy for those group shots. If folk don't know exactly when you're taking shots, they are more natural, and by watching the group you'll more easily spot the inevitable clown at the back making hand signals.
 
I've got a remote cable but its not the best, has a habit of bursting off lots of shots, may see if I can get a new one before the weekend.
 
you will find most bikers a friendly bunch and willing to muck in and help

try a bride side saddle or facing backwards on the bike pic theres scope for some great alternative happy wedding pics

Hey DitchDigger, Yeah they are a friendly bunch, I've known them all for years, I'm a biker myself.

Once the formals are done I am anticipating lots of people wanting pics on the bikes, especially the non bikers and kids :)
