Bike engined Robin Relaint

Why do people always call them Robin Reliants? Reliant Robin...

Do you know those little boxy vans florists use - Bedford Rascals - people put hyabusa engines in them - check out youtube!

Actually, now I think about it....

Paint it yellow.....

Trotter's Independent Traders on the side and.......

Where the hell did I leave my meds?

A mate had one of the first Reliant Robins with a motor bike engine in.

It was so basic ,you had to lift the bonnet and kick start .
He did this one day and it was in gear.:(

I would have loved to see Him hoping like mad down the back street.:D:D:D

After seeing the in-car (:shrug:) video, I really DO want it - I wonder if he's open to offers :naughty:

It reminds me a little of a mate who used to have a VW Type 3 Fastback with some big Mutha of a Ford Engine in it, taped Steering wheel so he knew what was straight - it wheelied like a gub 'un !

Theres a video on youtube of someone in a porsche on what looks like a reasonably quick lap round spa, he comes into la source and is outbraked by a VW camper, which then pulls away from it :)

In a audio A8 with my brother many moons ago and as we were driving along this wood paneled morris van came screaming past us after a certain amount of chacing we had him at the roundabout (Erith trunk road-I think) then as soon as we were off he came paste again goddam whatever that thing had in it was powerful

I have a friend from Taunton who is well known for his R33 SKYLINE beating Splitty. If you live local, it is matte black and sounds like an f15 jet when it goes past, and trust me, it will go past you, iwas out with him one day when he made some chav in a Scooby nearly cry:eek::lol:

13amp Plug.
Old boy across the road to me has a Robin (sorry 13 amp plug). Every couple of years as the local kids must get to a certain age, He finds it laying on it's side in the road. He picks out all the gravel and stones then gets his paint out and touches up the chips.
About a month ago someone actually took delight in keying it all down one side.:cuckoo: Why:thinking:
Every time he starts it up he has to keep it revving high till it warms up, sounds like he's preparing for take off.

:D:D when I was 17 I had a reliant regal 109E. I saw it advertised in Hotcar Magazine for £70. In fact there were two, one with a good body and one with a good engine.

We switched engines and (remember it was the end of the 70s!!!!!) my mum kitted out the inside with fake black fur :'(:'(:'(:'(

The car did not need a heater since you could wrap your legs around the engine almost and the heat through the thin plastic was lovely in winter and in summer it was nice (Iguess) to have a free sauna.

At that stage I did not realise I was short sighted and so did not wear glasses. I kept mis-judging distances and driving into the back of other cars. Of course this was never a problem as there was never any damage to the other cars, the regal would just fall onto its side and the front bumper would drop off.

People would rush over and push me upright, I would collect the bumper up and my dad and I would glue it back on.

If that sounds made up the next story definately will. On one occassion I was driving around a long bend just outside Ongar and I suddenly realised the Ford Cortina that was coming towards me was in the middle of the road, probably looking to wipe me out!!

I swerved to the left and my car went over at 50mph ( top speed with a tail wind), it slid along on its right side whilst I threw all my weight to the left and like a boat it went back on to 4 / I mean 3 wheels and I carried on. It had slid for long enough for the cortina and 2 other cars to have pulled over and the occupants to have got out and be stood outside their cars. I looked into the mirror and saw their mouths drop open as I carried on.

When I got home my dad and I filled in the hole at the top of the right wing where the road had burned it away.

I turned up to photograph my first proper wedding in the reliant. Again it was in Ongar and I was shooting for National Weddings. The wedding was a high affair and I parked up next to the Porsches and mercedes :D:D:D:D

All the above seems very far fetched but is 100% true...............
