Biggin Hill Air Show. Where to go inside?

Hi, I’m thinking of going to Biggin Hill for the air show and was wondering if a grand stand seat worth having or are there better places to get some good photos from? I’ve never been before or even been to an air show before. Thanks in advance.

We tend to get the grand stand seats and I'd say for the photography it's well worth it. Depending on what way they are taking off and landing you can get some excellent shots of the northern end of the runway. You also don't have the issue of people getting in the way of course.

Can't remember how much the seats were but I know we've always been happy to pay for them. One year we even got them for free as they weren't taking credit card payments and we said that was the only way we could pay so they let us in for free.

Advice would be to take a hat though as it gets pretty hot and there's no shade in the grandstand area unless you are near the bar but then you miss the aircraft.

Thanks for the reply Matt and advice. I think the grandstand tickets are now sold out on the Sunday. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say, as I'm going on my own, but it does look like I will have to find a vantage point myself when I get there.

I am in the extremely fortunate position and own a Breitling......wave at entrance security and in to the hospitality, found that little one by mistake last year .....takes you to the closest point before the runway without actually being on it.....cannot wait to see the Vulcan this year....

Where I am sat right now (watching the Red Arrows with my 3g connection on my netbook), is pretty much where I've sat every year so far. Keep going down the runway, past all the money trap stands and out of the bulk of the crowd. You end up at a point with a view across to the city and a good position of the runway which will do you for a fair amount of take offs and landings.

Take offs and landings were in both directions today so it's pot luck. However, I was where deadkenny was - the south end of the runway (right hand end as you face the runway) and had no complaints. Take some good sunscreen or you'll regret it.

Yep, and once again I messed up on the sunscreen. Covered most stuff up but forgot the arms. Ouch!

Saw a car park outside offering £6 for parking and people sat in the field. Strange though as it's behind a hill with no view of the airfield at all.

Anyway, I'd say £21 is worth it to see the Vulcan alone, but yeah you could see that from outside.

Would say this year's show was perhaps a bit trimmed from previous years though.

Bit late to post this I imagine BUT we went yesterday and every year in the past we've always got grandstand tickets on the day at the event but today they were sold out when we asked at 10.30am. It was so hot!! We stood to the right of the grandstand which was a pretty good location. That Vulcan is impressive to say the least.
