Biggest Full Moon of the Year

I thought it looked big today when I got off the train! Await a plethora of moon images... I may even have a bash myself!

I've not seen it today, and it's hiding behind the clouds at the mo...

Mmm, probably will be thick clouds tonight, knowing my luck

bl**dy hell

wish i had gone ahead and purchased my scope :bonk:

will have to wait .. but just watch we won`t have a clear sky anywhere in the country ..:'(

Sadly, the Geminids are probably going to be washed out by the nearly full moon. assuming it's not cloudy and raining of course.

I'm hoping it's as clear tonight as it was last night, it took my breath away when i walked out of the office, it was beautiful

I have a 200 lens which i find not enough normally to get the detail, but if the moon is going to be 14% bigger than normal, it should be okay, shouldn't it?

Try it and see what happens. I'm normally able to get some nice detail with a 250.

That's a touch one to answer. I use ISO100, lens wide open, and for the full moon probably around 1/400, I also tend to handhold without mirror lockup, everyone uses different settings though.

Thats typical eh!!

Will be hoping to give it ago myself tonight, cloudy at the moment, but was like this yeasterday, and cleard by evening, so hope it will do the same.

crapsticks... and i still only have my 17-55mm lens... the ONE time i NEED a 55-250mm and i can't afford it!

Bah im down at scottish borders got the 70-300vr with me too and no moon yet right next to sea as well what a shot biggest moon over sea and cant get a shot :(

Still cloudy here, think its try too sneek through though.

I haven't done any moon shots for ages - and looking out of the window I won't be starting again tonite :(

Fingers crossed for later on ***

Went to look before, couldnt see anything.

Went to come back in. Slipped on the wet decking and ended up the local infirmary :(:(

Had a bit of fun with this tonight... I was trying out an old Made in Germany tripod, with 40D and 55-250mm attached, when suddenly the head came off the legs and the camera fell off. :gag:

Somehow, I caught it (phew) but it can't have been good for my blood pressure.

Anyway, I screwed the tripod back together and tried to get a moon photo. Unfortunately, the clouds were now rolling in so it wasn't easy.

focussing was the biggest trouble - I was on MF and would try to focus during a break in the cloud, but then didn't get the shot because more cloud came along. It was all rather frustrating :bang:

well done at least getting a shot of it :)
