big step. brown trousers.

get keys next thursday.
new printer is about to be ordered. some of the studio webpages have gone live.
paint has been bought, and you cant move in my house for backdrops, and such.
security cameras n signs have turned up.looking seriously at advertising now too.
were nearly there.hoefully a couple of weeks to get stuff sorted and get some interior promo shots , and we,ll be going.

mark.
any locals (yes your invited notts dave ) who,d like to come to the opening?

A photographers studio from us offered the usual 1 print free over the Christmas period for a family portrait.
We went along realy and really liked his work and spent over £1200.

Then they were really canny with a promotion, for whoever spends over £500 they get a lifelong discount card offering 15% off any future sittings.

We probably would not think of going back, but with this discount, we think about taking Gran for a sitting etc....so they are getting alot of repeat business - Not to mention the word of mouth business where I have told all my friends as the Photos where brilliant anyway!!

Fingers crossed and hoped your opening goes perfectly, and before you know it you are complaining about the amount of work you have in the diary!!

ta grahame
weve sorted out a few good promo ideas along those lines.
the togs that want to rent the studio will be able to buy a "season ticket" to get discounts on regular hire.
we are giving discounts for decent spends, and offering packages for families, groups, etc.bigger spend package with free canvas etc.
and as we should be printing and stretching our own canvas,s. so decent prices on them too.
dvd slideshows will be available too.
plenty of other ideas were looking at too.
models should be available too. were compiling a list of models and portfolio,s at this moment.
may be a little while before the hire side is sorted, but we aim to offer as much as poss, as soon as poss.
summer hols, and family photo sessions are coming up quickly,
thanks for the comments from everyone.

All the best, mate. Let us know where it is when you're done, studios in Nottingham are always useful ;)

Good luck to you in your new business. I went out on my own a few years ago (in a totally different field) and am still pleased that I did so. I agree with PsiFox - business networking is excellent and can prove to be a really good investment if you put effort into it. I myself am a member of BRX, see http://www.brxnet.co.uk/ . Networking groups differ in their style and time that they regularly meet. My advice would be to go along to some as a guest (you will invariably be made very welcome) and then decide which one (or more) is for you. Also try Business Link http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdot...://www.businesslink.gov.uk/&tc=000KW021413519
which is a Governement financed organisation for supporting small businesses. They normally have all kinds of networking opportunities and business support seminars etc. at minimal (if any) cost.
Good luck, scary but a lot of 'fun' too.

i WILL get some pickies this weekend.
were nearly there.ikea tomoro for blinds and a couple of tables n stuff. hoping to get the background system up this weekend too.

Hi, just spotted on the website it should be "their new studio" not "there new studio".

Cheers JimLin.

I've just noticed you're in Mansfield Woodhouse, which is where my housemate is from. Not (that) near Notts though, sadly.

Looking very nice mate, plenty of working space and it has a clean, contemporary feel about it. Exactly what a studio should look like imo.

Well done to both of you.
