I recently posted a question about Creamphoto which has subsequently been locked and now deleted, also I have had my access to CreamPhoto website denied. :thumbsdown:

I know the reason behind the locking of the thread,:rules:, but can a MOD please explain why it has now been deleted, and if they have anything to do with my access denial on the website, there is no way Creamphoto could have known about my IP address without someone on here telling them.:nono:

or maybe the MOD that closed the thread actually works for them?

I would suggest a PM to one of the mods if you're not happy with their actions and they will resolve the issue privately :thumbs:

I tried this with one of my rants, I basically had all my threads locks and basically a sweet F you we are mods we can do what we wants if we dont agree with your opinions

hope you get more luck than I did lol

you can see where someone came from, if there was a link in your thread then it would show up on creamphoto's web statistics, they could also google themselves occasionally and tp is likely to be very high on any list as it is v seo friendly

a possible reason for the deletion is creamphoto communicating with the mods and suggesting that they were hosting slander, I'm assuming the thread was slanderous from the way you posted this one.
 
With all due respect, this forum is owned by a few people,as such, they hold the cat `o` nine tails.

99.99% of the time they are very fair and very tolerant.

Here is an idea,If you don`t like how the forum is run,then leave.................:)

Erm, yes there is...you visited the site, therefore they know your ip address...pretty simple!

Right, I'm going to stop this in the bud before it goes any further.

Basically, we received a complaint from Cream Wedding Photography Ltd, stating that they believed the thread contained libellous material regarding them, their company and its reputation.
We have a duty to investigate all complaints and we do take all complaints seriously, so in the first instance I removed the thread from view.

I then looked through the posts and decided that although I didn't think there was anything libellous in them, (and that Cream Wedding Photography Ltd hadn't specifically pointed out which statements they thought were libellous (even when asked)), I thought it best to remove the thread for now, possibly for editing..... as it didn't reflect our usual forum ethos and good manners.

We generally don't allow comments on non-members photography as we feel it is not fair.

We have offered Cream Wedding Photography Ltd a right to reply, but they have refused.

So the thread is deleted in the meantime.

Robbo, if you could step down off the soapbox please. We only delete threads for good reason. It's actually in our site rules that moderating decisions are not criticised or questioned publically. Contact us privately and we might help. Rant away in a thread and we will just close it ;)

Maybe you should check some facts before spouting off and making spurious allegations.

In response to your points:

  1. The thread was locked and moved following a complaint;
  2. How on earth could we block you from another website? They are more than capable of doing it themselves;
  3. Which mod do you think works for them?
 
As a further note. No we do not work for Cream Wedding Photography Ltd.
They threatened us with legal action over a thread containing criticism about their photographs.

We did not move the thread because it contained libel.
The thread was originally closed (before the complaint) because we felt it didn't reflect our ethos and good manners.
After receiving the complaint, the thread was drawn to our attention again and we decided with it being locked it served no purpose being there, easier all round to remove it.

Also :

I am also unable to access www.creamphoto.co.uk.
I believe my access to the website has been restricted by my current IP address, as I can access it from a different internet connection, or via other methods. (IE any method that doesn't involved my current ISP IP address).

We're not sure why they have taken such action, and cannot begin to guess to.

I was a little perturbed when I saw the original thread locked, but if policy is not to criticise photography if uninvited (at least in this context) then I can't see a problem. As has been pointed out, the vast majority of the time the mods are fair and balanced....like Fox News....no, seriously....

Funnily enough, I was one of the original critics, but I can still access their website....

Given the latitude I showed you only a few days ago, I take that as an extremely personal insult. I suggest you change your attitude pretty quick or you certainly won't have any more cause to worry about moderating decisions on this forum.

I can access the site and watched their youtube gallery. It shows pretty well what they are capable of - far better than any threads. If you watch and book them then keep your mouth shut!
 
BTW Please don't offer any opinions on the quality of their photography as it was critical comments in the other thread that got us threatened. So please, keep critique out of this thread if you wouldn't mind...

Isn't this a private forum though? What right do they have to come here and challenge peoples opinions with threats of legal action?

I could understand if someone made a site that specifically slanders them, or if it was publicized in a newspaper or something of that nature.

Unfortunately those 2 things cancel the other out :thumbs: the staff on here have no intention of fighting relatively pointless battles with only the v limited site funds its dumb to waste them on legal fees

and if the info is freely available then it makes no odds whether its the front page of the sun or a thread with 1 view on here tbh

So I am taking this means there is NO Freedom of Speach in the UK?
I did not see the thread so not know what it was all about.
Can no one now say they do not like something? is this was it was all about?

Matters not whether this is a private/privately owned forum, the owners could still be held to account

Incidentally it would be libel [the written word] and not slander [the spoken word]

Mate, this is not about freedom of speech, I think you will find that Marcel and others leave it right until the last minute before pulling anything - someone must have overstepped the mark on the thread, I tried not to.

If it is freedom of speech you want, go and shout in the street - this is, in effect a private forum !

if something is printed in a paper the paper gets taken to court not the writer, I'm pretty sure the same applies here it's TP that get the heat if someone does something bad

and I like this place so can get behind this measure, besides who cares about that guy, I doubt he's in direct competition with any members on here
